Love can last forever... Graceful swans of never, topple to the earth. Tomorrow's just an excuse, and you... Can make it last, forever you...
33. I'm in tears nearly as I write this. For my partner.

Damn... Ditto. and Ditto. (except I am at work) So many songs. Yep. A couple of songs have. The events of my life have been watermarked permanently by pumpkins songs. If a song plays, it almost always reminds me of that time in my life, and I am right back there. The Boy - For when I first truely fell head over heels in love Disarm - For the breakup 1979 - As I was (like most kids) trying to fit in in a new school Quiet - For those times when bed jumping goes on

Haha, welcome man. Isn't the internet a small world after all lol.
The outro of Porcelina of The Vast Oceans has undone the waterworks with me a few times too. The arrangement of Corgan and Iha on his ebow is impeccable.

Stand Inside Your Love gets me a bit weepy, but Disarm gets me everytime.

Soma So let the sadness come again On that you can depend on me Until the bitter, bitter end of the world
To Forgive I forget to forget nothing is important Holding back the fool again
Galapogos And should I fall from grace here with you Will you leave me too?
and of course the entire song:
In the Arms of Sleep I steal a kiss from her sleeping shadow moves Cause I'll always miss her wherever she goes And I'll always need her more than she could ever need me I need someone to ease my mind But sometimes a someone is so hard to find
...damn i hate being single *sniff*

cant sday a pumpkins song has brought me to tears.. but i would have to say that in the arms of sleep probably gets the closest..
as insanity said:
I steal a kiss from her sleeping shadow moves Cause I'll always miss her wherever she goes And I'll always need her more than she could ever need me I need someone to ease my mind But sometimes a someone is so hard to find
hope they play this song live again, and the electric versions from 97 would be way cool..

quite a few over the years, but the ones that almost always get me are: (ill limit my list to the two most recent emotive ones) hehe - this time (i think its the "only love will win", "for every chemical, you trade a piece of your soul", "and who you think you know doesnt know you at all", "someday we'll wave hello and wish we'd never said goodbye" and "so cry these tears, we'll cry as all"). - thirty three ("speak to me in a language i can hear", "the sun is out and up and down again", "forever you" and "for a moment i lose myself, wrapped up in the pleasures of the world").

Yeah, 33, I'm with everyone there, brings on the water works EVERY time, without fail, some of the most gorgeous lyrics Corgan's ever written.

It doesn't make me cry but 1979 is the one I feel the most emotionally attached to

Wow, so I'm not alone in this respect! Yeh, quite a lot of songs do it for me, usually when I'm just listening to Pumpkins somewhere quietly by myself, usually if I'm in a somewhat subdued mood. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness: the bridge part when the mellotrons really build. This Time: "Someday you'll wave hello...." Galapogos: "Too late to turn back now..." Soma: The intro (it's so delicate), and "I'm all by myself (close your eyes and sleep)...." Farewell and Goodnight: The piano outro. Lots of others, but these are the main ones that are pretty much guaranteed to get me every time.

Stellar has been growing on me since I got the iTunes version a few weeks ago. I thought it was a really beautiful song. Today I read the lyrics. I don't think I've ever been hit so hard by a song.
It certainly addresses any doubts about whether Corgan can still write with emotional intensity. The combination of the words - which are so painfully beautiful, the music, and Corgan's understated singing... words can't describe.
I can't help but relate it back to his blog entry where he was talking about the inspiration for To Forgive. If this is about the same subject matter, I think it's an even more powerful rendition.
Particular line: "The wait hurts worse than the blow"

I go through cycles of depression at times and the song I always have stuck in my head is Today. I know the song's supposed to be morbidly ironic rather than straight-on serious... but everytime I hear that opening riff I feel rather emotional and it has made me cry a couple of times. While it hasn't brought upon the waterworks, Stand Inside Your Love's beautifully written and graceful lyrics always make me feel emotional in a nice sort of way. It always makes me think of the girl I mentioned in the 'Faith. Love. Compassion' thread. Ava Adore does as well, however, not in the same sense as SIYL. It's just such a lovely song... as is Thirty-Three. The soft acoustic sound and the graceful lyrics in that song are maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagic.

gosh, lots in the arms of sleep for sure, "i'll always need her more than she will ever need me" those nights when you feel like no one really cares about you. crestfallen, "you were never meant to belong to me" galapogos "and if we died right now, that fool you love somehow is here with you" this time 'some day we'll wave hello and wished we never waved goodbye" behold! the nightmare 'i can't go on digging roses from your grave' try version 1 spaceboy 'spaceboy theyll kill me before i'm dead and gone' and more recently the farewell remix of mayonaise as lame as that might make me.

As an update, on the zeitgeist i feel most emotionally attached to neverlost. I can't explain why, its just close to me.

I remember the first time I listened to Crestfallen I burst out sobbing in front of everyone else who was in the room... Erm. I just couldn't hold it in.
Other songs that have made me shed a tear or two (or many) are Obscured, Stand Inside Your Love, To Sheila, Perfect and, more than any other SP song - Farewell and Goodnight. I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe because of the beauty of it. And the lyrics are so sentimental.
