"I'm overdressed and missed the point" hehe, vintage Rogers
Thanks for the link sunks, It's more Luxury of Hysteria than Convicts isn't it.
The working title for this album was "I'm proud of my gay son"
Can't wait for it, much much love for YAI. The old YAI threads way back when tunred into lovefests for sunks and myself i think! Do we have more fans these days??

HOurly Daily is one of my fave albums - and definitely one of my fave Aus albums of all time. Theres Hourly Daily, Eternal Nightcap, Frogstomp, Ivy and the Big Apples - and i cant think of any other aus albums that i dig as much as those

I agree, its a classic and the structure, the song writing, I can't fault the record ... plus its got a killer secret track. If people haven't heard the JFiles where the band talk about the recording, download it here: www.youami.net/mp3.htm

When i was in the car the other day they played Purple Sneakers and i couldnt help but crank it. We saw You Am I when we were living in canberra, what is the name of that club that is right in the middle of civic, just up from the post office part. Anyway, it was a blistering gig, and we got our faces in the local street press (cant remember what it is called anymore).

Yeah people forget these guys had 3 straight records go to number one, unheard of for a rock band like that, and tourd the states with Soundgarden....
Gave Hi Fi way a listen the other night, the songs all still stand up. Fantastic band.
Might pull the DVD out this weekend....love the live/tv performances.

Love this band, every albums been a cracker.
Still have to say my faves are definately Hi-Fi Way, Hourly Daily and Dress Me Slowly.
Also love Timmy's solo stuff.
Did anyone here get the bonus disc with the inital pressing of Dress Me Slowly? Got some of Timmy's finest tunes.

Yep have to agree, best bonus disc worth of material. I haven't listened to that in a good 2-3 years ... time to put an end to that I think.

haha that's brilliant, holy shit - How was that tune at the end of the video!! Can't wait.
Timmy Rogers has the voice for late night love song dedications, i'm telling you
I was spinning convicts madly at the start of the week, which turned into Dress Me Slowly and now Spit Polish.

The boys are on Before the game tonight - I'd love to see them pull out an old rocker, but it will be a new tune (Just because Dilettantes probably doesn't suit the vibe!)- Wouldn't mind Erasmus

I really like it, probably took me a while to really dissolve the songs (despite liking it from the start), but i really enjoy the flow of it
Erasmus and Beau Geste are standouts for me at this point. Disappearing and Give Up, Get Fat were the first two that grabbed me.
A lot of people are saying it's the best since #4 record, but i can't put it past Dress Me Slowly, and refuse to compare it to Convicts.

I don't see why people don't like Dress Me Slowly, its a solid record. I really haven't given the newie a good shot. I'll be honest I've listened to it once ... I need to find an hour to sit and just listen to it. You've inspired me Steve, I'll listen to it on my way to work tomorrow

I'm enjoying it. I don't know where it stands for me. I wasn't the biggest fan of Convicts. It was solid but, I was such a big fan of Deliverance and wanted more of that. So far I'm impressed. It did sound a little autopilot at first, but as each day goes on, I'm finding more of it sticking in my head, which is a good thing. I always manage to press repeat after it's finished.

Yeah it just seems to take a bit to sink in doesn't it? Still have Beau Geste and Erasmus as my fave's, it's a solid record

I still haven't given it another listen ... I feel really bad.
Also didn't end up going to the Perth shows, I think they are this weekend ... but yeah we just aren't going. I was looking forward to this release all year long and ... not the "bang" I was hoping for.

I heard one of the new songs on JJJ, i think it was Erasmus, and it was really different, i didnt know it was You Am I except for Tim's voice and sounded different. I liked it, but it was more modern (does that make sense) than i have heard them sound.

Heya sunks, do you mean the album isn't what you expected, or you just don't really feel the excitement to listen to it? (ie - the buildup was unwarrented for what you are feeling now)
Hmm..i dunno if that explains it very well, haha

I've only had a half listen, but I know I really like the last two songs. Dillettantes is great too.

The early reviews I heard were all things like "its the You Am I of old!" ... so I was expecting it to be more like Hourly Daily - Hi Fi Way ... and yeah it didn't have that "punch" or that song that grabs your attention. Maybe time away from it is what I need ...

Been listening to Dilettantes of late and am probaly enjpying it more than ever actually
Reason i bumped this - Jimmy Barnes was on The Footy Show last night (really starting to show his age) Played a song from his new album - On lead guitar, none other than the sharply dressed man himself - Davey Lane! Kinda woke up from my half asleep daze.
