Yeah, they could squeeze it in ...maybe. Splendour is 31st July / 1st August yeah? Well these are the current dates. 2010/07/26 Terminal 5 New York City, NY, US 2010/08/05 Fort Canning Park Singapore, SG [on sale 2010/06/25] www.spfc.org/tours/info.htmlI'd be gutted if they played Splendour, no way I could afford the trip or justify it. Also, tonights show at the House of Blues: Soundcheck Owata/Make It Happen/Tristessa (links to these vids are on ozphoria.com) Main Set: Astral Planes/Ava Adore/Hummer/As Rome Burns/Bleeding the Orchid/A Song for a Son/Bullet with Butterfly Wings/Disarm/Perfect/1979/Owata/Widow Wake My Mind/Stand Inside Your Love/Cherub Rock/That’s the Way (My Love Is)/United States/Tarantula/Tonight, Tonight Freak/Gossamer Apparently, Mike did Gossamer well ... it was the short (haha) 15minute version like from the 20th Ann. Tour.

Ok after just watching the live stream chat Billy did, can't see it happening (for Splendour).
He mentioned that they are planning to tour international (mentioning Sth America) after this tour ... so my guess is this. This tour, then back in the studio for September ... and we see them later this year perhaps.

Perhaps by fans, maybe they wanted to control what gets shared and what doesn't. I think they are allowed to have some control.
Also this was the tracks from tonight in Grand Rapids, apparently the crowd was fantastic.
Soundcheck:
* Gossamer * Tristessa * Make It Happen * Lonely is the Name * My Love is Winter * Invincible
Set:
* Astral Planes * Ava Adore * Hummer * As Rome Burns * A Song for a Son * Today * Bleeding the Orchid * Eye * Stand Inside Your Love * Bullet with Butterfly Wings * United States * Widow Wake My Mind * Perfect * Cherub Rock * That’s the Way (My Love Is) * Owata * Tarantula * Tonight, Tonight
Encore:
* Freak * Gossamer

United States from the Viper Room: tumblr.com/xl0d6jidf(just watch mzero23 channel ... all the videos from the show are awesome quality. Most of the songs are up and I'm sure we'll see everything soon enough) From watching them, Bleeding the Orchid is played slower and more like something like La Dolly Vita in a way, I really love it. More dreamy in sound, less angry than during the Zeitgeist era. Really loving it. United States, was different. Of course it has none of Jimmy's little fills to it, but the stripped back simpler version in a way is less crazy and ain't half bad. The rest of the tracks are pretty great, fucking loving Owata.

First live bootleg is up: www.archive.org/details/sp2010-07-10.km184.flacQuality isn't that bad, Freak sounds live great and the version of Eye is great. I'm really liking what Im hearing from this line up. I didn't think I would be this excited.

I was really feeling the US video but I wish that it still had that awesome hendrixy star spangled banner part; I hope that comes back. I've been listening to that archive link and I just can't help but be excited by what could happen with this band in six months, a year, who knows!!! It really sounds like Billy is actually giving a shit and at the same time enjoying himself (who would've thought!!?) and that the band are coming together as a unit, am I right?
I realise that a lot of fans became disenchanted with Zeitgeist and all of the drama that came since the pumpkins came back, perhaps even since the break up, zwan, tfe and so on, but hearing the bands shows since mike joined and now since we have nicole it all seems like we might actually have a reason to love this band again...does anyone else feel that way?

so I'm sitting here listening to the other bootleg and I'm thinking to myself that this is not the best I've heard the band 'musically' (since the initial reformation) but it is the best I've heard them in regards to the entire feeling of hearing them play. Is it the fact that Billy isn't doing the clipped consonant singing, or the falsetto thing he does (minus a few moments in Song For a Son) and actually sounds like he isn't just trying to get through the "singles" in order to get to the newer material?
I don't know, I don't want to be the wanker fan who over analyses it, but right now I am so happy to hear the pumpkins play like this, it's the first time in recent memory that I don't feel a little self conscious about referring to music that involves billy corgan and calling it the smashing pumpkins...
edit:
oh, also, as an australian smashing pumpkins fan I think it's great that this site exists and we have a forum to talk about NEW smashing pumpkins goings on, long live ozphoria.

much like the Smashing Pumpkins this message board appears to be dead...

That is the positive spirit! It's not dead, majority of the people here still keep in contact via other areas ... twitter, facebook, email, in person ... that isn't an excuse, but discussion about the Pumpkins happens in so many places these days from the message board first started it is sometimes pointless having the conversations twice (if they've been talked about elsewhere). Not to sound ranty, but it was something that was always going to happen with the website/forum ... new places pop up, we are already a niche market - Australian only SP fans - a band that has lost many fans but gained so many new (younger fans) that don't sign up to forums and prefer to get info via Facebook or Twitter. Anyway, that is more a generalisation about Internet trends I guess. In closing, the Smashing Pumpkins are what the Smashing Pumpkins are to you and you alone. If the died in 2000, then great. If they are the body of work created by Billy Corgan with 3 other people on stage that actually want to be on stage and bring some happiness into peoples lives when seeing them live, then great. My view (if anybody cares) is just enjoying it for what it is, I'm not getting hung up on the little things ... such a small thing to worry about in the grand scheme of life. And yes, I know I sound like Billy.

I updated the homepage with some videos from the recent Japan / Singapore shows, Mikey wearing a ZERO shirt is pretty funny. Also 34 from Hipsters United put together a review of the Summer Sonic festival show: blog.hipstersunited.com/2010/08/09/summer-sonic-tokyo-review/And also today Pumpkins were announced for Indonesia in October ... so shall we say late October for Australia then?
