The 24 hour Live Earth extravaganza is nearing, and to live up to their quota of playing all seven continents, Live Earth Antarctica has been announced.
The indie rock band Nunatak will be the sole band on the freezing continent, which at this time of year can't be accessed by sea (due to frozen water) or by air (due to the freezing and thin air).
Nunatak are made up of five scientists aged 22 to 28 who are stationed on the generally unpopulated continent and play indie rock.
They will be performing to the smallest audience out of all the Live Earth's, with only 17 people watching them, although they will be broadcast out to potentially two billion people through TV, radio and the internet on the 7th of July.

I think I'll have to wait for the Interpol album, I love the suspense, plus my download limit is shite!
Smashing Pumpkins, think I've heard of them, didn't they do that "Rat in a cage" song?

Magic Dirt News - 2 NEW ALBUMS! Magic Dirt are back with the twin sisters from hell. The noise album, Roky's Room & the mini-album, Beast. Roky's Room is 11 tracks of screaming and howling guitars extracted from the sonic hadal of noise. Magic Dirt recruited some of their favourite guitar terrorists & headed to Birdland Studios, plugged in & turned it way up. This is the most extreme & experimental album they have ever produced. The tracks don't have names, only numbers. There are no drums or vocals. This is for serious lovers of noise. It's unlisteneable to most of the population. Not recommended for most. It may break your windows. We warned you. Beast is the slightly more 'adjusted' sister. She is flat out and 4 to the floor, swinging her mane, beating her feet, cage unlocked. Beast is a collection of 7 of the Dirt's most intense psycho-drama workouts. The lyrics take you to some dark places & force you to take a look around. This is their dirtiest primal grind yet. Daniel Herring, original Magic Dirt guitarist, appears on 2 tracks for some triple guitar onslaught. Three guitars and one chord never sounded so nasty. More info coming soon, including release dates. So stay tuned! NEW ROKY'S ROOM MYSPACE UP NOW! The Dirt's noise album now has it's own home at www.myspace.com/rokysroomNEW SONG from BEAST up now on MYSPACE! The fast & furious 'Bring Me The Head Of....' from new album, BEAST, is now up on www.myspace.com/magicdirt. Full tracklisting for BEAST: Horror Me Bring Me The Head Of... Dirty One Don't Panic Hung Lead Room Sucker Love BEAST will be released on July 7th. .... Im so happy they are back to being Magic Dirt again. I didn't really get into the last 2 albums as much as their earlier stuff.

[ Source ]Nick Cave solo + Grinderman tour announcement! Nick Cave delivers double duties as a performer this October when he heads off around the country to deliver a solo act followed by a performance as the four-piece monster Grinderman. Cave plans to wow fans with a solo concert on the grand piano, followed by his Bad Seeds band’s musical transformation into Grinderman, the foursome powered by electric guitars and clanking drum sets. Nick and his band’s multifaceted performance, in an intimate setting, is expected to blow audiences away. Grinderman began with the collaborations of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, who created the dazzling 2004 double album Abattoir Blues/ The Lyre of Orpheus that sold of 500,000 copies worldwide. The Bad Seeds rockers include Warren Ellis (violin, mandolin, bouzouki), Martyn Casey (bass) and Jim Scalvunos (drums), who have also accompanied Cave in his solo performances since 2000. Entertainment Weekly raves that “Cave remains a singular sensation” as NME calls it “Nasty, sleazy, debauched, depraved: how more rock music should be.” It is clear that the foursome’s chemistry is what allows the unique sound of both Nick Cave Solo and Grinderman to distinctively coexist on stage. Don’t miss Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ favourites revamped by Nick on the piano as well as the band’s metamorphosis into the captivating rock n rollers, Grinderman. Be sure to pick up a copy of Grinderman’s self titled debut album that The Independent calls “a brash, bawdy beast of an album” out now through Mute/Virgin/EMI records.
