Hi there. As you can probably tell by the title of this thread I am new. I just wanted to say g'day to all of you here and offer up some history. I've been a Pumpkins fan for about eleven years now. I was getting a lift home from school with a friend, and he threw a tape in the car stereo and the most awesome cacophony of noise hit me in the face. Of course the song was Bullet With Butterfly Wings, and from then on I was hooked. I got albums for Christmas, and that was it. When I discovered bootlegs it was like a whole new world. I've been slowly plugging away at getting what I can, as well as thrashing my credit card on eBay for the last few years. Of course being a total idiot when it comes to the Internet I still don't understand torrents and all that, so therefore I think the RSPAA is the greatest site ever. I never got to see the Pumpkins live (don't get me started on that one), so seeing Billy at the Enmore was a highlight of my musical life. I got to share it with my wonderful girlfriend, and that was pretty special, seeing as I had used my knowledge of her love for the Pumpkins, and my small but impressive collection of bootlegs to worm my way in to her heart in the first place! That was about three and a half years ago, so it was pretty cool to see the Corgan show with her. By that stage I was reading the forums here a fair bit, and I can tell you i was pretty damn jealous to see all you guys there with your cool lanyards! I thought to myself "I must join that forum". So in typical fashion I have now joined, about a 9 months later. Well better late than never I guess. So, after that rambling diatribe, I just wanted to say hello, and I'm looking forward to posting here, and hoping I can contribute something of worth to these forums. Cheers, Gus.

Hey Gus, Welcome to Ozphoria! Just wondering if you were one of the guys we met outside the Enmore show --- I remember talking about Ozphoria to a few people beforehand who asked us what the lanyards were for etc.

No that wasn't me, cause I already knew what they were for. I was pointing them out to my girlfriend, saying "those are people from the internet". It's a mystical magical place this internet thing..... Thanks for the welcome

I've got a myspace account but i pretty much just use it for searching and laughing at emo kids. I guess I should fix it up and figure out the friends thing.

Tuggeranong isn't mystical! But hooray for more Canberra members... now we have a grand total of three, I think. AWESOME!

Thanks for the welcomes guys. My Dad used to live in Holt, it's pretty much the furthest awat part of Canberra you can get from where I live. And it still only takes half an hour to get there..........

Canberra being a pre-planed designed city makes it fairly easy to get around.

Well yeah thats right. Our public transport is pretty decent (apart from the actual operators), and we don't get the traffic jams and stuff like Sydney. I was born in Perth, so that will always be my "spiritual" home but I've been in Canberra for quite a while now, and I like it enough to want to stay here for a while at least.

Public transport on the Gold Coast is completly rooted. Never on time, hard to get through the different zones, and the drives suck.
*end of rant*

They implemented a "zone" thing in Canberra with the buses, but basically it was such a waste of time they scrapped it about three months after it was brought in. Canberra is no where near big enough to have zones.

Landspeed's Canberra's last remaining cool indie CD store... RIP Impact. They have a pretty good range of titles... I remember they had a fair bit of Patrick Wolf's stuff when I was looking for it and JB didn't.

Landspeed's Canberra's last remaining cool indie CD store... RIP Impact. I know, I was gutted when Impact closed down. It was arguably the best music/merch store in the country (Utopia in Sydney is pretty damn good though), they even had a great collection of comics and back issues. I bought The Aeroplane Flies High from there (amongst numerous other cds n' stuff over time). I went to Rocking Horse in Brisbane for the first time the other day, that was pretty good there.

Impact was like my second home till it shut down, but I do feel that they really didn'h vave a turnover of stock for like, the last year that they were open. There was just nothing new to look at, and nothing new to buy. Everytime I went in there was the same stuff I'd been looking at for months. That being said though I was very dissapointed when it closed.

I was introduced to Ozphoria by some people outside the Palias after the Melborne show. I still don't know who I actually talked to. I loved the lanyards and only had my homemade pupkins t-shirt to show-off (I'm not as ghetto now, I bought a real one!)
Can anyone remember that 'cause it'd be cool to relate names on Ozphoria to those people I spoke to.

I think I spoke to about a hundred people outside the Palais that night. Was it around the side after the show? If you were near the front of the line to see Billy come out, then it could have been us... I dont know.
