There's a new update with "AOL Sessions". Cool live-in-studio vids.
I finally get to hear Superchirst. Excitement!

Replying to my own post, kind of sad....
Anyway, yeah, the AOL thing has also got an interview w/BC & JC (in 12 parts). The last part has Billy talking about whether the band will continue to make albums in the future. Implying that they might be more likely to release single tracks or EPs or something like that. Interesting possibility. Not necessarily one I'd be in favour of.... unsure. Opinions?

new blog from jimmy:
Greetings, I hope these words find you all at peace.
First I'd like to thank everyone for their prayers and energy. It was well received and I'm feeling much better. The tour was a rock rampage and now we are back in the studio recording some songs for a possible release worldwide.
Look for these around the first of the year. Busy Bees !
I wish all a Happy Holiday and a productive 08!
wow,, what are we expecting? I hope they move in the direction of stellar and ma belle...

Oh yeah, thats awesome news. I really hoped they would do something, even to release it digitally or just as an EP.

Whatchoo talkin' bout Willis!?!? New album !??! Tell 'im he's dreamin'! I cant imagine that they'd release a new 'official' album whilst still in the middle of what is essentially the 'Zeitgeist tour.' On the other hand - there is the more likely possiblity that we could see a Pisces-esque B-Sides and rarities outing from the Punkin kids. It would be interesting to see what kinda influence Jeff and Ginge would have on a new album. But - to get back on topic.... Oh Jimmy - dont be a musical prick tease!

I like the term American Gothic, i dont know if it is what i would have suggested as a genre name - perhaps around the Adore era more fittingly - but atleast BC has chosen it himself, he is making the decision and who better to do so than the man himself.

its weird - you cant really categorise anyone. And if you can - theyre not trying very hard. I mean - any decent band will try and combine more than one influence, combining styles, instruments, structure and so on an so forth - to the point where (hopefully) the new style is incategorisable.
Further more, to paraphrase the philosopher Kikkergaard: If you label me - you negate me.

I thought that was quoting Wayne Campbell

Well - Wayne Campbell paraphrasing Soren Kierkegaard.
If I was to choose an appropriate quote from Mr Campbell it would be "Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees."

New update from Billy: www.smashingpumpkins.com/pages/blog/observations-from-delayed-traveler-c7c57be1He makes points on how the band currently functions, addresses the history with James and D'Arcy (and I agree with him on this) ... this is actually one of the best blogs from Billy. "So two very different shows over 2 days, and we were able to play 4 new songs: Owata, A Song for a Son, As Rome Burns, and a 2012 version of Simon and Garfunkels 'The Sounds of Silence'. We've rehearsed now for 3 weeks for the 20th Anniversary tour, so I trust we have a few more suprises in store. That is, if you dare come to watch us piss on our own grave." HAHA!

It was a clear blog from Billy, it had structure hehe ... and he covered some major issues too.
Finally addressing James and D'Arcy, as much as I miss them, they have made it clear for years ... they never want to be Pumpkins again. Its hard for fans to accept that, but I think since Zeitgeist, the Pumpkins are a different band now ... its great seeing them as a full live act now, where people can come in and leave for certain tours ... its like the Adore era, but covering all eras of the band.
It also sounds like its a clear direction now for the band, get through these shows and this tour ... then hopefully they can take that energy and sound into the studio together ... the new songs sound great, would be great to get another mini EP of songs like 99 Floors, Songs for a Son, Owata and others ... and it could happen too!
So you think with the man (and in a way the band) covering the James and D'Arcy topic, we can finally put this to rest and prove that they are a new band, the new members LOVE being Pumpkins and if it wasn't for them ... we would have no band.
I see this as the start of the band now ... as a full group line up. Im so excited about the next few weeks in Pumpkinland!

the blog was so amazing and in depth...hearing Billy speak out like that on James and D'arcy finally making everything totally clear...I caught them live earlier in the year and the new line ups chemistry on stage was as amazing as the show itself...it was a clear sign that the band had moved on to bgger and better things much like the Zeitgeist album was...respect to billy! respect to Jeff Ginger and Jimmy! Respect to James and D'arcy!

To me it looks like the chemistry is now starting to get to where it should be, but when we saw them i thought the only chemistry was between Billy and Jimmy with jeff starting to sneak in there, ginger didnt even move from her spot on the stage i dont think and there was definitley no interaction with Billy beyond a few words.
