every time i click here from another window for the first few seconds i think that my monitors' brightness level has jumped up or something, it has that "washed out grey wanting to be black" sorta feel? or is it just me?
just a thought. no biggie.

sorry trev we have no control over how something is viewed on somebodies monitor - if i did my job would be alot easier. the background colour is just that a background colour. do you have an LCD or CRT? the pixels can either take a split second to change or it could just be a trick of the light. its what is sometimes referred to as ghosting, where the colours will take longer to adjust - usually an older monitor or a faulty one. its basically because the tempreture of the colour changes. are you viewing it in a dark room? or with overhead dull lighting? this can sometimes affect how colours are viewed on different screens, especially LCD's. its basically a combo of your eyes adjusting to the sudden light colour and the screen refreshing. its the same principal as this: www.indianchild.com/BLACK_DOTS.htmyour screen is going from a lighter colour to a dark colour (or visa versa) - you'll get safe affect really. also since its not a solid black, but a shade of black (hex #333333 for anybody interested) its not as definate as black, so thats why it will hang for a tiny bit. but i don't get the issue here, but I am on the computer designing at work for 9hrs a day so I guess my eyes are used to it.

sorry, that was my attempt at a polite way to say i don't like the background colour here, i think i must have been unclear....lol
no monitor problems, just thinking it would look better being closer to black.

hmm ok.
well as a designer, my opinion is that black is over used and i prefer to use grey. its subtle and not as harsh. plus so many other forums are black, i like to be different.

lol, i was wondering what people were on about with monitor problems in the replies ;D
i like the grey, i tihnk it suits the top image well... ofcourse the image was designed with this colour in mind, but they go good together..

i guess i focused on the "i think that my monitors' brightness level has jumped up or something,"
im used to dealing with clients and having to explain to them why websites look different on different monitors, I guess i jumped into tech support mode.

This could perhaps be better as a private message to either Simon, myself or one of the other Admins and Moderators OR maybe posting this in the Ozphoria - New Design thread as a suggestion for how we can better the message board. After all if you don't tell us what you think honestly about what we're doing for you guys, we can't really take a look at it, can we?
