now i dont want to cause any panic or distaste here, but i think im losing it, losing what you ask??
i think im losing the ability to like the pumpkins the way i have for nearly 13 yrs now.
now i can explain sortof.... i was watching a video the other day, one of their live shows from 2000 in budokan, dont get me wrong its a fucking great show, but it didnt stir me the way it usually does, and that hasnt happened before, now i put myself thru a test, i listen to some other stuff, live stuff, rare, albums basically anything and everything i have, well usually something will blow me away when i listen to all my stuff, something i havent noticed before, but this time nothing stood out, i even stopped some albums short 'cause they were *swallows*.....boring.
i feel really bad because this is my favourite band in the whole world and they dont stir me like they used to. has the flame gone out, the chemistry depleted.
i dont know
but it worries me, its getting to the point where i dont even have the urge to listen to them any more.
i just thought i would let you guys in on it, maybe give me some advice, flame me, whatever but there must be a cure.

someone the o-board saif something very similar to what you have on the o-board before. everyone just told him to take a rest from the pumpkins, listen to some music and you will eventually start to realise how absolutely fucking amazing the pumpkins are again. go listen to justin timberlake or anything of the many shitty bands around and you'll come to ure senses.

is okay, there are times when i don't listen to sp, and go through an obsessive thing with other bands but the feeling always comes back. give yourself a while, and the feeling will return. is there a particluar band that is stiring you at the moment?
you have to look at it like this. you have been a fan for a long time. i know you went to the 96 show so its been at least 7,8 years. 8 years is a long time to do something, pleasurable or not. and a typical sp fan saturates him/herself with the music and the myth of sp so much, its a full time thing, a full time job. cd's, singles, boots, obscure 12" vinyl remixes, we want them all, because the band touches us.
its similar to full time work. 8 years of 9-5 5 days a week, 45 weeks of the year? i'd have my doubts too.
go with it. maybe you will come back, maybe you won't. i respect you and the years of enjoyment you recieved from sp aren't wasted.
whoa. deep.

i know what u mean also.. i love the pumpkins and have for as long as i can remember, but early last year when i was goin thru troubles with a friend of mine (w) i completely stopped listening to them which is really weird for me... but it was for a few reasons one being it reminded me of him and another being that the music just wasnt getting to me the way it used to.. tingles and all that jazz hehe............ it was like i was just bored, but i knew i wasnt and i shouldnt feel that way, and i felt really bad for thinking it but yeh.. the feeling was bored somewhat... anyway.. about one or two months went on and one day i was in the car and disarm came on the radio and of course i freaked out and got excited and it all came back to me and stirred me again like b4. it'll come back suga! ;D ;D trust me!

I haven't listened to any pumpkins for about 2 years (apart from MP and whenever the RTS became available).........i don't think i'll ever get THAT feeling back. I also think Zwan is very average but thats another story.

Hey don't worry about it pugsuperstar I absolutely love the Pumpkins and have done since I was 13 but every couple of months or so I give them a break and listen to some other bands that I love.
I know I'm sounding like a sheep by following the others but hey they're right the only cure from this type of feeling is to give them a break listen to another band/s and come back to them in a couple of months or so and hey presto the Pumpkins will get ya all stirred up again ;D

go listen to justin timberlake or anything of the many shitty bands around and you'll come to ure senses. bahahahahhaa. justin timberlake eh? he's not shit! i find myself listening to justin and the pumpkins in one day, and liking both of them. anyway... parka... maybe you've OVER-saturated yourself with them. as everyone has already said, take a break from them. 3 months i reckon. even if you have the urge to listen to them, don't let yourself, because when the 3 months is up, you'll love them so much more... and don't think that you'll always think they're boring... it's the pumpkins[/b]

I find that sometimes I wont listen to SP for a while, and then I'll feel really guilty. I just dont want to listen to the same stuff that I've heard a million times. But I always come back to them, just the other day I chucked the Twilight to Starlight cd in my discman and it blew me away. I hadnt REALLY listened to it in so long. I think that if you come back fresh, you'll rediscover all that you love about the band.

Symptoms: feels like you'vesort of come to the end of your, road - emotionally, spiritually, musically. Cure?:take a few cds/vidoes, lock em away somewere or give them to family or friends with instruction not to let you near them for a month at least........see how long you last & hey......(seriously) - rest it up buddy! i think by going by all these caring & empathetic posts, yr not alone in your feelings & need a break......is is frustrating tho....... if i thought i could suggest just one song i thought was going to magically pull you out of this i would......

listen to rap. no shit, try it. really try to get into it. listen to some snoop or 50 cent or eminem or whoever is the (oops i mean da) coolest rapper is at the moment. listen to their lyrics, try to recognise their emotions they are expressing. realise the ways of the ghetto. or listen to electronic dancey type stuff. feel the beats, know the rhythyms. get hold of some ltj bukem or chemical brothers or diesel boy. go to a rave or two. or listen to some country, surely you must know someone with a old slim dusty or garth brookes record or two? or listen to some classical, vivaldi and bach are good especially if you like heavier contemporary music. you'll come back soon enough with your tail between your legs. Note:This message has been mostly tongue in cheek; however I do recommend people widening their musical tastes. Situations such as these are tailor made (excuse the cliche, its late ).

Parka - don't leave - just becuase you're not listening to the music doesn't mean you don't still appriciate what the pumpkins have meant to you and done for you.
Bree doesn't listen to Pumpkins much either and every couple of weeks i know she'll listen to something ... but the things is ... i know and she knows that we love this band and the what they stand for and the music they create - we love it all.
I went through a period last year where i didn't listen to one single pumpkins track for about a month - i came back and loved it all over again ... remember how i always say Here Is No Why always gets me hooked - well that was the first song i listened too then ...
have a break - hear and appriciate other music ... it is hard to keep hearing the same songs over and over again when all you want is something else - something a lil special ... something ... different.
One thing you better freakin promise is that IF Zwan come - you're coming with us!!!!

message from my good friend PMPkInBoi331979:
what the fuck man...you aren't a true fan....
i mean NOT listening to the pumpkins? How could you? Are you trying to say that you are too good for the pumpkins? huh? I listen to Billy Corgan like 4 times a minute, and you are saying you get sick of him?? How could you even come here anymore? Pumpkins are like the whole reason I live. I mean I actually have 2 copies of Siamese Dream, thats how much I looooove them. I think I might actually ring billy himself and tell him that one of his fans in australia doesnt like him anymore? So what you hate billy now? do you hate my idol? what is this?
and i cant belive all you pussies havvent told this guy off for this, i mean he soo doesnt like the pumpkins now. we should be yelling at him not telling him its ok. and who was teh idiot who told him to listen to rap, or classical. billy hates that, unless you are talking about the classical in disarm. that shits ok, but other classical, man that hurts my ears, i have to run home and put on zero straight away. i love zero, its my favourite song. i asked my mum if i can change my name to zero, but she said no because its not really a name so much as its a number. but i dont care, when i turn 18 i want to be called zero from now on.
anyway. i have to get back to my fave board NETPHORIA!!!!
^^**^^SteVe^^**^^
Note: This writeup is done purely for comical reasons, none of the opinions here are actually shared by the author and pumpkinboi331979 didnt actually write this.... fool!

thanx guys- yeah i tried staying away from ozphoria but this morning, i instinctively came here to post a song, its seems breaking away from the music is one thing, breaking away from the community is an entirely different bag of meatballs, so i'd just like to say im not gon to leave the board cause it would be way too hard, i dont i even have the will power, so im still going to do my usual lurking running amock, parka things that everybody knows and loves, i just wont be listening to the songs. things to keep me occupied while i go thru this are:- xmen2 - i have been waiting 2 and a half years for this baby and it promises to be huge. matrix 2 and 3- im seeing matrix 2 the night before it actually comes out i got special tickets from a matrix crazed friend of mine. the golden age of grotesque- this is goin to be big, from all reports its the best manson has done since sliced bread , i can t wait..... fotty tipping- im goin to kick all youse arses (carn the pies) playing my guitar- my shoulders still shithouse so i havent been able to play it much, but i hope to seee that gone so i can kick out the jams. just a few things.. thanx again guys the support has been muchly appreciated and duely noted.
