So.. anyone else obsessed with the series? NO? Just me? ok.. delete it then Suposedly the title has reference to something to do with King Arthur and his hallows (A sword (gryfendor) a pendant (slytherin) etc) but guess we wont know if it has anything to do with the book Hopefully Jo will release more info for christmas like she did 2 years with Half blood prince...

i thought there wasn't anymore harry potter books coming out? is this the last one where he gets killed suposedly?
i love harry potter, altho i loved it a lot more when i was like 14-16. I think the movies spoil the story a lot, books are always better
i mean who will pick up and read lord of the rings now? when you can watch it in 9 hours instead of spending 5 months reading the book

lol, yeah, this is the final book, book 7, and his final eyar at hogwarts, maybe ever if he dies i guess. And i too think the books are a million times better and the movies give away too much with also leaving a fuckload of info out But i would read LOTR if the movies werent so great and the books kinda boring I still love the books, they seem to be getting darker as you get older kinda thing. Might sound lame, but it works for me

scott im with you. i have loved the series, but i'lll be honest i got into it by seeing the movies first. I saw the first movie and then went and got a bunch of the books and I've been hooked since. I agree they are better than the movies, you know more about the characters and the little sub-plots that just aren't in the movies. as for the new title - i think its awesome! i'm really excited. 2007 is going to be awesome! new potter, new pumpkins, transformers movie, tmnt movie, simpsons movie, silverchair record ... all the things from my younger days!

not to get off topic - but whats wrong with the transformers movie? its all CGI, its going to be insane!
back to harry potter now!
so scott you think he will die?
i really think its the only way for JK to end the books, without being asked to write just one more book for the rest of her life. If Harry dies, he is back with his parents and its all wrapped up. As sad as it would be, i think its the ending we are all expecting.

re transformers - nothing is it going to be like beast wars, except better graphics?
i think that because everyone expects him to die he probably won't

I'm hoping voldermort dies and Harry gets abck with Ginny I really think killing either Harry or Voldemort will finish off the series, otherwise it would just be Harrys life after school and after voldemort, and i tihnk there is enough fan-fiction/poterotica about that But its fucking exciting knowing that in (roughly) half a year we will know everything! I hadnt heard of potter until girls in my class started calling me Harry Potter (they started a trend i swear) and then after bagging it for a while i decided to read it, fucking brilliant That was probably around 2000 i tihnk.

608 pages! Not e-fucking-nuff! But fuck i seriously cant wait! what a month! Zeitgeist! a week later OoTP in cinemas! 2 weeks later HP + Deathly Hallows! Here are the covers: UK www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/gallery/dhukUK Adult www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/gallery/dhukadultUS www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/gallery/dhusThe first time its had a wrap around cover (US version) and also first time voldemort has been on any cover.. I tink i'm gonan be ordering the special edition (hope the cover is sexy..) and a .. probably kids UK version.. i think it looks kinda horrible though.. but the adult versions ahve been looking kinda boring.. OoTP was the sexiest adult cover. If your sensitive.. SPOILER WARNING... its the blurb.... from leaky.. The UK editions have summaries; the inside flap reads: "Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety , and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him… In this final, seventh installment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectactular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited. The spellbinding, richly woven narrative, which plunges, twists and turns at a breathtaking pace, confirms the author as a mistress of storytelling, whose books will be read, reread and read again." And on the back of the adult edition: "Harry is waiting in Privet Drive. The Order of the Phoenix is coming to escort him safely away without Voldemort and his supporters knowing – if they can. But what will Harry do then? How can he fulfil the momentous and seemingly impossible task that Professor Dumbledore has left him with?" Jesus titty fucker i cant wait ;D

On the US cover, is that gravestones that spread around the lower part, or is it the death eaters?

OMG OMG. So very exciting. It will be a very busy month indeed, the Simpsons movie also comes out then. woah!
I think they are Death Eaters... maybe. Im more interested in what are the both trying to get to? like they aren't aiming their powers at each other its like they are trying to bring something to themselves.
I saw a few book stores already doing pre-orders ... for $29 (rather the usual $45) plus a free poster. I'm going to pre-order soon enough anyway.

i'm liking the free poster ;D
Its kinda confusing with the info thats out.. the editor said its an emotional book, that he wasnt jut crying, he was balling his eyes out.. and it looks like in the US version there is a duel surrounded by death eaters, then in the kids UK, Harry, Hermione, and ron are happy playing in gold.. WTF?!
also, whats with the OoTP taking harry.. is it for more then the weding?
Is the simpsons on the same day as the pumpkins?

OMG! SO JEALOUS! i wish i worked at a book store you could steal a copy early!

In theory you could. But there is always the threat that the publishers do random check on your boxes to make sure they are all sealed. I dont know if they have ever done that before, but that is the rumour. No matter how much the boxes say they are embargoed and the date and even the TIME you can open the boxes, there are still always stories of local ma and pa stores not knowing (usually in the U.S.) and putting the book out early. They would get fined soooo much!!

I emailed Greater Union and they told me all tickets for the movie will on sale from June 28th, they still have the 12th as their release date ... unless they are going to do midnight screenings?
Either way we won't see it until the weekend of the week it comes out.
