only read these once you guys ahve finished, its jsut from interviews etc about what she has said after the books release.. I tohught it was pretty obvious while reading it, but the two people who werent planned to die and did were lupin and tonks. I just thought it ewas obvious as it written about them just dying and nothing about how it happened etc. And the person she saved was Mr Weasley. he was supposed to die in OoTP but she couldnt kill him off. The book originally had a few titles, and one was HP and the Elder wand, but she said it gave too much away. The hardest thing she found to write was the chapter where harry goes into the forest with the 'spirits' of his parents/sirius/lupin/tonks etc she said it wasnt just cos it was a sad part but becasue it had been planned for 17 years and it was now finally written.

Ok finished.
Finished the book this morning, really loved it, was a little upset reading the end, just knowing that this was it for the series. Like you said Scott, its going to be rare for me to also get into a book series like I have with HP.
I honestly thought that Harry would die and the happy ending would be him being reunited with his parents, I've thought that for the past few books. So I was wrong.
But I agree that it did seem slightly obvious throughout the book what would be happening next. Was good to find out more about Snape, I always had the feeling he never killed Dumbledore and it was part of a grand plan. Was happy when I read that I was onto it, you now can see why he was so hard on Harry throughout his years.
Yeah didn't think Lupin or Tonks dying was really needed, I don't know, I felt enough people from the Order had died it just kind of felt unnecessary, especially at that point when so many people were dying and being killed. I think I have to say I was the most upset when Hedwig and Dobby died. Especially Hedwig, because when I was reading that Bree was reading the first book (she's starting from 1 and going to finish them all). Anyway she had just read when Harry got Hedwig and said to me "Oh Harry just got his owl" ... then 15mins later Im reading about Hedwig dying. Perfect timing.
Was surprised that at the end Harry needed Malfoy's wand to win. The battle at the end will be amazing to watch in the movie I think, going to be some great wizard and witches and giants battles.
Also what did you think about the whole 19yrs later thing? I thought it was pretty cool, seemed a bit corny, but I think she needed to do that for it to end on a happy note.
Thats all I can think about now, might need to skim through it again and refresh my mind on some parts.
Also thats interesting she couldn't kill off Mr Weazley, Im glad she didn't.

i thought the epilogue was very fan fic'ish and wasnt a big fan.. even though everything i wanted to happen happened (ginny+harry+lots of kids ) and ron and hermoine.. but i didnt like it. (she said the original epilogue was much more detailed and had scar asd the last word.. but she didnt like it as much) And Sher said she chose 19 years cos she wanted to give enbough time for them to have their own kids going to hogwarts and she didnt wanna promote teenage pregnacies On the lupin/tonks note she said she wanted to create another orphan to show the effects of the war like last time (with harry) which i thought was kinda crappy. I was so pissed off when i found out that harry was a horcrux and would need to die.. so pissed off that i thought i'd never read the book again. but thankfully those feelings ahve left me and i'm re-reading again. I loved the depth of the book.. the 7 potters leaving pivet drive, and just the detail into the story she went.. people complained about it being too in depth and drawn out, but i lkoved it this way. hegwig was tradgic! i had my hedwig plush toy thingy with me as i was reading it dobby was aswell.. i think i felt their deaths the most aswell. I'm afraid they wont be able to do the book justice in the movie though! so much has to happen, and i want that hogwarts battle to be as briliant as it is in the book.. i was thinking they might have to do HPB and some of DH as nothing major happens in HBP in one movie.. but ofcourse wont happen i also enjoyed reading about everything she has said afterwards about whart happens to characters etc. it feels wierd to wanna know these things about fictional characters.. and it isnt as cool finding out just from webchats and so on that ginny played with the holly harpies or whatever they called then retired. i'd much rather a "everything answered" book but i have to say i fucking loved the book and i think it is my favourite one..

Yeah we went and saw it on Wednesday night. The cinema was packed and we had to sit in the second row *ugh* so Jessy and I are already planning another trip to see it from a better perspective. I loved it, thought visually it looked great. Some really creepy moments in it, and they are visually getting better with each film. There was no way I could not like it because I am such a fan of the books, and i love those kids.
But i do have to bitch slap you, Scott - Twilight? What are you thinking. Read - "Let The Right One In" or see the film - Best. Vampire. Fiction. EVER!!

i'm off tonight to watch it for the 3rd time in 3 nights. woot (wont be out in australia when i'm back, so im getting the most out of an english cinema that i can). the comedy and romance/relationships in the movie was done brilliantly, while keeping as true as any of the movies to the books. twilight was pushed upon me at a vulnerable time in my life.. i'm sorry kerrie
