After no Perth in 07, I did think of you when the talk of him stepping away came up sunks..glad you get to see him - And i want a big review I guess i'm very lucky, the second Ryan show in Melbourne will be my 4th time seeing him - And after flying out of Melbourne on TFE tour the night he played in Melbourne, it could well have been 5. Oh well (Having that Melbourne 05 show on bootleg is such a tease, it's amazing)

So I am yet to buy a ticket, and i doubt i'll have enough time to get into every song possible to hear before the show.. so will it be a huge disadvantage if i'm not familiar with most of his back catalogue? i'm a bit uneasy about buying tix if it'll be kinda sucky if i dont know a lot of the songs

The 2007 tour was, but it seems it's lightened up a bit from some videos/pics i've seen, might do some investigating
Looks like there is much more light compared to then, but still a bit of a mix
And just for the hell of it - Woo! i like this one

The other thing is, youll still have a great time even if you dont know everything. I dragged my friend along to the last tour having only heard Love is Hell and he was completely blown away by the whole experience. Obviously it would help but yeah if he happens to play a few things you dont know it wont be the end of the world.

wow. i just read on archive.org that he allows people to record from the soundboard! thats awesome
" Ryan Adams is usually cool with taping, and board access is allowed as well! Just show up early and talk to Steve (Ryan's tourmanager) or Turk (his soundman). Steve might even let you in for the soundcheck to get your gear set up. But: In any case, they only let one person in before doors-open. (This happened to me in Offenbach, Germany on Dec. 3, 2002.) However, Steve said he doesn't care how many people actually tape the show from the board as long as they don't get in Turk's way."

HORY CLAP!Its tonight ... Ryan is tonight. ARHHHHHH! Heading to the show with a guy I used to work with who Im close friends with still. Our first day working together we were talking music and he said 'Oh I love this guy Ryan Adams, but most people don't know him' ... and so yeah, been great friends since then. So its going to be cool. Bree isn't going. So yes, we always joke that it will be like when Nelson in The Simpsons takes Bart, Millhouse and Martin to see Andy Williams ... and Nelson is like in awe of him. *Bamn Second Encore - What a showman!* ... that will be us.

Yes Steve, yes we can. ... nice article, sad to read this line at the end "Ryan Adams and the Cardinals final ever Australian tour kicks off next week." ... Final ever? ... I won't believe that. Im so excited today, Im trying to finish my SP article today and all I can think about is Radams ... who knows I might end up typing something about Ryan in the article. Also you guys know if there is a support? I emailed Frontier a few weeks back and they said none had been confirmed at that stage ... ...

Holy Crap ... ok. Insane. Few things about the merch, that aren't really spoilers ... just something to make you aware. Ryan's book is for sale at the merch desk ... all copies signed! Some copies come with a little drawing. My mate got a little duck that Ryan drew in his. Few cool tshirts, stickers etc ... and I nice blue tote bag Oh and there was a support, only for about 20 mins ... they were the Southern Cross Bush Band. Pretty traditional country 3 piece. Female vocals, fiddle player and a young girl (about 14) on keys. They played pretty traditional Aussie country. You could tell they were nervous not knowing how the crowd would react to their music, but yeah was great to get to see something you normally wouldn't. A lot of people were getting into it too. Not sure if they are doing the whole tour. Ok onto the show, I'll put this behind a spoiler. Setlist (I'm pretty sure this is the order) Born into a light Fix it Everybody Knows Beautiful Sorta Bartering Lines Easy plateau > Two Peaceful valley > Please Do Not Let Me Go Desire Let it Ride Goodnight Rose [epic just simply EPIC!] Freeway to the Canyon - Evening joke with John [Was great] Stars go Blue Like Yesterday Magnolia Mountain - Waiting for new guitar to be tuned, the sound guy put on Xanadu came over the PA system and Ryan danced to the song, then said "Oh wait, turn that off we can do a song while we wait." Oh My God, Whatever, etc (Ryan didn't play guitar for this) Evergreen Dear John [FUCKING AWESOME!] Taught Myself How to Grow * set break * Wonderwall Sink Ships Off Broadway [An epic version] He started around 9pm, finished at 11.30pm ish ... with only a 5min encore break. Ok, I'll try and put together a full constructed review one night this week. But some main points, this was just fucking magic. Ryan look good, clean and happy. No more Grizzly Adams. Very Rock N Roll / Heartbreaker era in how he looks. He was talking throughout the night too, that was great. So yeah he was wearing a RUN DMC shirt which was awesome. The setlist was pretty true to what they had planned till about Two ... then Neal made the joke "we are off the grid now" and then they were just playing what they wanted in a way. I got the feeling they were playing the songs from era's that were getting the best reaction from the crowd, it was just amazing to watch these guys perform. Such talent. For me I got, Let it Ride, was a bit slower than the record version but still had that awesome vibe that I love so much about that track. I took some photo's with my iPhone, nothing great but you can see them here: www.flickr.com/photos/brunky/sets/72157612988987630/Enjoy the shows guys, I hope you have as good a time as I did. Edit: Just checked and yeah setlist was pretty spot on (yay me!) ... also somebody has recorded the night: www.ryanadamsarchive.com/showthread.php?t=15029&page=4 ... its not up yet, but they are saying they recorded it.
