Yeah last time he was here i had to fly out of Melbourne the day he played, as I'm sure is the case for a fair few people here. He played for 4 hours that night :s

yeah, i was so bumped to miss that show. It was like - im in the city at the same time as him ... but im flying to Sydney that night. rrr! I just got sent a MP3 of Ryan Adams covering Bryan Adams - Summer of 69 - its hillarious! He makes up lyrics and starts taking the piss of Bryan Adams. one line of " ... that mother fucker couldn't have written the song because he's 53 ... " and the rambles about Wal Mart guarantees. I'll upload it later!

Ive got a cover of Like A Virgin where he says: "Yeah, I married Sean Penn, but don't hold that against me man, I got a really nice ass"

Oh awesome, yeah Steve it will be interesting to see what happens on there. Could this mean Ryan is headed for the mainstream in Australia?

Hmm...not sure what they are trying to do Sunks. A lot of people i've talked music with lately seem to know who he is, but won't know any of his work (maybe "New York, New York") - Which is interesting because i always thought he was an unknown here really.
I had the feeling that his performance could be similar to the So Alive one in the states a few years ag. Just Ryan playing, no real emotion....i don't know why i think that.
I may be wrong, but didn't Rove have rapper Xibit (sp?) on recently? I wouldn't say he is a mainstream artist...
I don't think he could ever really be a mainstream artist actually...but if it means more Ryan, by all means, i hope they do what they will!

Yeah, I guess I meant by mainstream that he would become more known to a larger audience. I can see Rove making a "Bryan Adams" joke ... that would be awkward. Im guessing he would play "Two"? Either way its exciting.

Xibit is the host of pimp my ride in the US, so that was something else for him to talk about.
on a ryan note, Dools played New York, New York on saturday morning, prompted me to download some of the mp3s on sunks idisk... not bad at all.

Either way its exciting. I'd agree - Although i would love to hear him call for a "guitar solo" while doing Halloween Head! Does Rove usualy talk to his musical guests these days? Do they get to say a few words?

haha that would be good. As for the interviews, he doesn't really ask them anything. Unless they are really popular, like Michael Buble got both an interview and sung a track. But usually its the band at the end and thats it.

I thought about getting tix to see him because so many of you like his stuff. Like someone mentioned earlier, i have heard of him (and think i have an album or 2 on iTunes) but havent ever really heard him....but alas, too many gigs and too little money. Otherwise it would have been cool to go see what he is like. And Her Majesty's Theatre is TINY!!! Jimmy, we were front row there for Tori...it awesome, you are so close. Have fun

The Chair one was great!
But anyways - Back to Ryan. Did you guys know he wanted to release this as The Cardinals - Easy Tiger, but the record company talked him out of it.

oh really?
I guess for them they have marketed him as a solo artist for so long now, it would be a big blow to start releasing stuff as The Cardinals.

Yeah i can see what the record company is doing, it's just a bummer because you don't want to see that kind of thing happen where the artist can't do what they want to do. Often the case though *cough*Machina 2*cough*

So he wanted to release it as just "The Cardinals" rather than "Ryan Adams and the Cardinals"? Interesting, I like it though, stupid record companies *shakes fist*

Its currently back to row O still in the stalls, i dont know if you'd get a better view from the dress circle, it starts over row J in the stalls, cant check availability though, it just assigns you the best available. Im sure if you went into bass though they'd give be able to show you where was available

Does Rove usualy talk to his musical guests these days? Do they get to say a few words? He interviewed Nick and Neil from Crowded House a couple of weeks ago. It was SHIT! Rove can not interview to save his life, he's so crap. "So, Neil, who would you turn gay for?" NO! Thank GOD Denton's interviewing them this Monday. Any other Crowdies fans on the board?
