And another call for Magnolia Mountain and A Kiss Before I Go. Ryan cracked some jokes but i couldn't make them out.
My top 5?
Tears Of Gold Two Rip Off Everybody Knows The Sun Also Sets
Really though, theres basically no weak spots, Pearls On A String is probably a little under the level of the rest if anything.

No there really isn't is there. Also from recent interviews it really sounds like the Cardinals are going strong, I really hope that there will be another album sometimes soon. Also Ryan mentions that the next album will be a release under the name of The Cardinals. Also don't know if anybody listened to the interview I posted, but they mentioned that there will hopefully be an unreleased boxset of material before the end of the year - Its most likely going to be songs from The Suicide Handbook and 48 Hours.

Yeah the boxset is true. I think it's called "20:20". If you check out wiki it says "Including Suicide Handbook, 48 Hours (album), etc." So that's all cool. I like the etc bit because that means more hopefully! In regards to tonite's show. My sis and Georgia (cleanwhitesheets) managed to scores 2 setlists and 2 picks, of which they are giving me one of each. Very lucky. Not only that, but they got to meet a couple of the Cardinals, although they couldn't tell me which ones. Georgia also saw Ryan walking very fast to his hotel. wow. Only a 1 hour 15 min show from what they said. A couple of tunes not played (Including Two) and Magnolia was played but not included on the set.... The Cardinals told them Ryan ws feeling a litte sick

Yeah they didn't play that long cause he had a fever. They even played a song at the end when he was joking round about it called "I got a fever of 104" or something, funny as. Great show though, really atmospheric, dark, intense, every song was completely turned on its heaad.
I think i may have seen georgia and your sis steve, I was sitting down in the front row for a while after they finished and there were a couple of girls hanging round at the stage so that may have been them (not knowing what they look like its kinda hard to say. lol)

Fantastic performance
Some idiots in the crowd (Didn't hear the 'Summer of 69' line though), Ryan did cut set one short.
Will do a bit of a breakdown tomorrow (If i can't, will wait until Saturday with Nite 2 out of the way)

Ok here is a ramble -
Went to the front of the Enmore and the band were doing soundcheck, could Just see them thru the doors, sound was perfect. They did a fantastic tease of Medowlake Street and Ryan started yelling and doing all these screams into the mike which was funny as. Also played A Kiss Before I Go which was perfect and ended with Ryan yelling in a kinda british voice "One scotch, one beer.....and a kiss before i go" about 8 times before he left the stage, he was kinda swaying and had his hands in the air. Hehe. Was in a good mood - at that stage anyways!
The band comes out into the near darkness of the stage and kick into Goodnight Rose. After a couple of tunes, the crowd starts to get a bit restless "Turn the lights up"...."Dear Chicago" so Neil from the Cardinals says "Hey we appreciate the requests but we have a really cool setlist here we're going to stick to, so hopefully you can stay with us". "Can you at least turn the lights on" someone yells, Ryan responds but putting his lighter up to his face.....haha. The next time someone yells out for it, Neil says "Can't you just enjoy the moment?" The red light brightens up the room a tad for Peaceful Valley, it was soooo good. Now i know why i was hanging out for it so much. In the bit where he sings "Can i still smoke my ciggarette's, and drink my coffee, up there in heaven, with a bottle of wine" he sang "Can i still smoke my ciggarettes and drink my coffee, can't people shut the fuck up, when i trying to play" which was actually a good moment for me, i smiled. Some girl says, although not as loud - "We payed $70 for this" and about 500 people yell "shut up". Ryan, who was preparing for the next song (Which for whatever reason i thought was going to be Beautiful Sorta) says "You know what, we play 2 sets a nite - This is the end of the first set, maybe you will learn how to act by the time we come out for the second" and leaves. Yay. I'm pretty sure Dear Chicago go abandoned.. What Sin Replaces Love was amazing! So the only time Ryan talks apart from cracking the shits at the end of the first set was after A Kiss Before I Go - I thought this was the end of the show and i was pissed cause i didn't get to hear Easy Plateau, but he says "So thankyou for coming out and enjoying the music" and the he kinda sarcastically points and says "you did a good job!"....., Easy Plateau, huge version, 13 mins all up i think with a bunch of noise to end it. Great end. Drummer is fantastic. And that's that.
My top 5: Peaceful Valley Off Broadway (hit me way more than i imagined) What Sin Easy Plateau Mockingbird Set: On: 9:20 Goodnight Rose Please Do Not Let Me Go Mockingbird Wild Flowers Cold Roses Dear John Peaceful Valley Off Broadway
break 10:07ish to 10:20
Blue Hotel Magnolia Mountain What Sin Replaces Love Trouble On Wheels Arkham Asylum A Kiss Before I Go Easy Plateau off: 11:10
People need to respect Ryans performance. He and the band were brilliant, faultless as far as a live show goes. And they chose to come, Ryan didn't make them.
On the other hand - Maybe if Ryan wants to play the show in semi darkess, he shouldn't charge $70. I'm not sure if it was because of his well known nerves or what, but it really wasn't a great setting. If someone had travelled for these shows (Say for instance if you came east sunks) I'm pretty sure the people would have left pretty pissed off. And leaving songs out, cutting sets short? If the taunts bothered him, the stage set up would surely change? So if it doesn't bother him, why crack the sads? Perhaps he likes doing it??
II would defend Ryan Adams on anything, but there certaily was a bad feeling in the air all show. I'm just trying to look at it from both sides.

I Loved the lights, set the mood perfectly. Seriously, I must say, that as awesome as I was expecting the show to be, it was even better than I was ever hoping, just got completely immersed in it. Here are some shots I got, theyre not great, but i didnt want to miss out by trying to concerntrate on taking pics, theyre mainly just for posterity. Gives a good idea of the mood though, especially the 2nd one of ryan where you can hardly see him:

A good crowd, a happy Ryan and an amazing setlist
More tomorrow!

Ryan says hello, mentions it's the last show of the tour and he has enjoyed it, says he wants to give everyone a good show basicall. A really good mood i think as this really got the crowd hyped. Then he and the band unleashed this on us:
Goodnight Hollywood Blvd Dear Chicago The End Beautiful Sorta I See Monsters Cold Roses Please Do Not Let Me Go The Sun Also Sets Oh My God, Whatever, Etc - Ryan moved up the stage a little to a Mike much closer to the crowd which was great. Let It Ride Mockingbird Goodnight Rose Shakedown on 9th Street Pearls On a String Bartering Lines
Encore Break (10:40-10:45)
When the Stars go Blue - Ryan saya they play that one as he likes the work of Tim McGraw. He then says Tim is cute like a little puppy and rambles on about it randomly as only Ryan can I Taught Myself to Grow Old
off: 10:55ish ("Goodnight Australia, it's been a blast")
So very good.

Been looking around and someone has mentioned this in regards to the box set:
Depending on what you believe, it's going to be 7 or maybe 8 disks - Could also include some live gear and "cold roses disk 3"
I guess Wait and See is the way to go....

yeah I remember hearing about the Strokes thing Steve, it would be great to hear. also thats good to find out more info about the 20:20 boxset. I have The Destroyer Sessions, if anybody is interested. Also I have disc 2 of the Pinkhearts sessions, never been able to find disc 1. Also I've got the Suicide Handbook too, but would be great to hear the other version they mention. The thing I love about these releases is that are great sounding records, sometimes with a full band and not just "rough" demo's. I've been listening to the other bootlegs I got last week, can't get enough of the track 'Fools Gold' ... sounds so Dylanesque. Oh and Jimmy, I love those photo's. Thankyou for posting them, allowed me to see how everything was set up. I think it would have been magic to see them play in such a moody dark environment.

Can't say i see this as a big deal, but the media will love it: MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (AP) -- Ryan Adams pitched another fit for a Minneapolis audience, a few years after his last local meltdown. Throughout a show Thursday night, the 32-year-old singer-guitarist complained about the sound monitors onstage at the State Theatre. At one point, he moved two monitors, his microphone and his guitar pedals. After 70 minutes he'd had enough. Adams announced "the last song," played it and didn't return for an encore. Many fans stood and booed. "I don't know what the story was," guitarist Neal Casal told the Star Tribune afterward. "I just play guitar." In 2003, Adams gave a famously bad performance at First Avenue, a rambling two-hour show where he griped about the sound system, played several songs twice and lambasted local rock legend Paul Westerberg www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Musi....ap/index.html
