Oh, also I just realised I havent posted this here but I mentioned it to Steve the other night: Someone in touch with Jon Graboff asked him if they were planning to come to Aus anytime soon and he said he was pretty sure they had a show in Melbourne slated in for February and they were still working out the rest of the tour. Excitement

Oh wow! Febuary is perfect ... especially for Perth. Thats during the Festival of Perth, we usually get artists during that time ... I NEED to see Ryan, at least once in my life.

Dan the explosion mans crazyness inspired me to go to JB and pick up some cheap Mr Adams. Got 29, and Jacksonville City Nights. Was gonna message Steve last night at JB cos couldn’t remember where to start but i was in a hurry. Yet to listen.. but everyone has built him up as the next sliced bread, so heres hoping... The crazyiness has paid off. Every week, day, hour, minute since I've purchased the "Adams" collection, I've been discovering more and more things to like. I'm currently really loving "Cold Roses." The first three tracks on Disk One are just plain flawless. I think it's "Meadowlake Street" (track 3) on the first disk, such a great song. I've managed to digest each album, now I'm starting to have individual songs start to really hit me. I'd say that Heartbreaker, Gold, Rock N Roll, Love Is Hell, Cold Roses and 29 are still my favourites at this point although Jacksonville City Lights and Easy Tiger are both really growing on me. Cardinology still comes across like the weaker of the collection, but still some damn fine moments for me. Also started venturing into the "Whiskeytown" albums and I'm really enjoying them. It reminds me of a more kickass "Uncle Tupelo" or "Son Volt" and I really enjoy anything Ryan Adams has done a lot more for me than the other "Alt Country" bands I've heard

Steve come to Perth if you want, there will be a new house for you to crash at and I can get some time off too. Show you the 'sights' or 'sight' of Perth. haha! There is some confusion about the Perth show, 3 different websites are saying 3 different venues ... 2 are good ... the other is all seats.

I have a feeling that the Perth show could be a special one considering they weren't on the list in 07

Ok, so my options atm are either going to perth or brissy. If i go to perth ill have to fly back to adelaide the next day for leonard cohen, if i go to brissy i can stay with family and go straight on to melbourne for the 29th.
This is hectic.

This announcement has come at the right time for me, Amen is all I can say.
I've just started to Warm to the new Album as well, it's moved up the list.
I'll definately be doing the Brisbane show. That will be a great week. Neil Young on the 21st and then Ryan Adams and The Cardinals on the 27th

For those that know him better than me, does he really vary the set lists and cover a large range or does he just focus on the current moment and reason for his tour (ie Latest album).

He plays stuff from all over the place, the show I saw on the last tour for easy tiger he only played 2 easy tiger songs, and one was off broadway which has been around since before Gold. I think this tour is more centred on the new album, but theres a decent spread of other material too.

Yeah they did 2 sets last time with a break in the middle, but you could really say he had/has theme or anything

If I remember correctly he writes the setlist just before the show each night, depending on what mood he's in, and he drops and adds song pretty randomly too. What he does do though is cardinalise all the old songs, and usually theres a nice curve of more subdued stuff building into rampant guitar jams haha. He's totally captivating though, really atmospheric.
