I thought it would be good to start a thread, talk about games you are playing, games you are wanting, news about games ... basically any console and any game. Discuss.
Well I'll start with my typical OMG Nintendo Rant:
Mario Kart Wii:
The Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK has an interesting paragraph on Mario Kart Wii. According to the magazine, MKWii will feature Battle Mode as an online option with up to 16 players and you can also now pull off stunts mid air. A bunch of the old MKDS tracks are also going to be recreated for the Wii version along with a few brand new ones. Mario Kart Wii is set for a Q1 release next year, but considering the trend in Australia, that could mean whenever they feel like it.
Also Im super excited about Super Paper Mario on the Wii, I loved thousand year door and this will be just as great.
Also anybody with a PSP here? Can you reccomend any good games, we are looking at getting one for Bree's brother as a birthday present and trying to find something really good. Any suggestions will be good.
Any Bioshock fanboys here? Few people we know have been going nuts over this game, but apparently its really easy to beat. I hate it when games do that.

I'm all about Sims 2 at the moment. I know I'm a few years behind the ball but I finally picked up a copy and I'm addicted.
I played a bit of Bioshock with my brother, he's a massive 360/ps3 weenie... It seems cool but not really my kind of game . He finished it in a week and now he's playing Warhawk.
Oh and not sure if it counts but I've been playing a lot of Snowbored on my phone. Joshy and other hiptoppers, go to Menu > Settings > About Hiptop and then hold menu + shift + 8 at once and the game will appear. Hold the trackball to go up, release to go down.

Hadn't played a game in ages till I got Bioshock. It melds FPS shooter and RPG elements perfectly. The art direction is fantastic also. Highly recommended. As for it being easy, its not overly hard, but i wouldn't call it easy. what makes it easy is that you really don't have any 'lives' and you just respawn nearby if you die. but its supposed to be approx. 20-25 hours long, which is fine by me.
Sunky, regarding PSP, my girlfriend has one, but she hasn't bought many games for it. We've found that we've been buying more DS games. But as for games, Loco Roco is a cool game, but kinda easy/short. And some might not be into those types of games.
Looking forward to the new zelda game on the ds.

Re: PSP games, a friend of mine worked on a game called Puzzle Quest and apparently it's quite good. I haven't seen it yet... But it's available for PSP and DS and I think it will be on XBox Arcade or whartever it's called.

Thanks guys, we were at EB games looking at the PSP games tonight, didn't see any of the titles you mentioned. We got him Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, he's into his first person shooters so he'll enjoy it. Also we got some games off the Wii store for the Virtual Console: Zelda - Link to the Past TMNT for the NES! (OMG So happy about this) Bomberman '93 Also I got The Firemen (The Ignition Factor) off ebay for the SNES. Im so excited about this, this was a game I used to rent from our local Video Connection store all the time when I was a kid. Next game I want to find, just for the fun of it, the classic AFL game for the NES. "Out of Bounds ... on the full"

TMNT for the NES! (OMG So happy about this) yeah man! that game was awesome! ;D except i kept dying at the underwater bomb-diffusing level.. hey, so is anyone else pissed off by the fact that the new wii firmware upgrade means we can't use the freeloader anymore? means we can't play imoprted gamecube games anymore.. half my games are imports! now i can't play my japanese one piece, naruto or bleach fighting games or my usa rpg imports.. i mean, most of the games locally released on the cube weren't so hot. & importing games isn't stealing or anything.. the company that made the freeloader is planning a wii specific one, but now knowing that nintendo could just upload new firmware again & cancel out the entire product, they might not put it out anymore..

I got Super Paper Mario for the Wii - AWESOME! i think the aussie copy has a bit of a glitch in level 2-2, but it's an avoidable glitch.. flipping to 3d is the greatest invention ever! along with the television & the wii-mote! take that science!

|
Post by sunky on Sept 25, 2007 7:28:03 GMT 7
oh noes glitch? I'm nearly up to that Chapter, hopefully its not to bad. Yeah flipping the 3d is fantastic, its like you're playing 2 levels at once, always checking to see if there is anything you're missing out on. I really love it.
The controls are great, finally good to be playing a game that takes full advantage of the Wii Mote controls. Being able to use it like a traditional controller and then point at the screenwhen needed - genius!

Picked up Half Life: The Orange Box for the 360, which includes Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episodes 1 and 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2. If you are a fan of the series, or shooters in general, this is a great package. I never did completely finish Half Life 2!
I agree, Halo 3 is addictive and heaps of fun online! I haven't even touched the single player yet.
EDIT: oh and also playing The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on the DS! Great game! I love how they've managed to condense most of the main controls using just the stylus!

I got Super Paper Mario for the Wii - AWESOME! OMG I have one more Pure Heart to get and then i am finished. But Jessy bought me the Prima guide yesterday, so when i am done i will walkthrough and find all the little secrets that i missed and try and collect all the cards and recipes. Someone sent me some links to talk about the Animal Crossing Wii game. Most of it is all still rumours but there are some awesome ideas out there. btw, who else knew that in Japan there was an Animal Crossing movie made last year (because apparently they have sold 3 million copies of AC:WW in Japan!)

yeah bree and i found the trailer for it, its really cute. In Japan its known as Animal Forrest or something like that. I can't wait for the Wii game, 2 years on with AC:WW and I still play it every week. I've paid everything off, done it all, got most sets ... its just about visiting my Animals. Last week when I was sick I didn't play for a few days and Pierce left my town ... after 2yrs there he left. Kinda sad. I have one Pure Heart left too. C'mon! The games good, the dialouge is slightly annoying how much there is.

Haha, yeah the SPM dialogue is slightly annoying (like Tom Nook everytime you visit him! haha) But the game is just amazing, i adore it!
Was pierce a fave of yours? did you make him stay a lot? I have made a few characters stay over the years but i think that all of the original ones have gone. I just got my final extention and now have the 900,000 + bells to pay off.

Oh Pierce was one of my favs, Antonio is my all time fav. He cracks me up with his comments "Feel the BURN!!! FEEL THE BURN!!!" It would suck if he left my town.

Call of Duty 4 is awesome! My gamertag is doobiesp. Although I haven't really found much time to play lately. Super Mario Galaxy may just tempt me to finally get a Wii, but trying to save.
