I noticed in one of the other threads foxy remarking how he has around 150 SP boots, of which he only listens to around 20. I too was getting to the stage where I was collecting a large amount of boots, but I realised I just couldn't listen to them all, and was collecting for collecting's sake. I've cut them done and am now really happy with 'em all.
The purpose of this thread is to work out what are the essential 15 boots that a Pumpkins fan should have. When everyone's had their say I'll put a list together, and it should be able to serve as a guide for people starting their collections, or people with massive collections trying to slim them down.
My essential 15 (by era);
(Gish); - Billy Corgan - Hotel Room 1991 (solo + interviews)
- "Live From The Mixing Desk"
(Siamese Dream); - Chicago Metro 14/08/93 (2 disc)
- "The Greatest Day" (acoustic performances)
(MCIS); - JJJ studios, Sydney 13/03/96
- "The GM Place"
- "Wrapped Up In The Pleasures Of The World"
- "Exit Mellon Collie"
(Adore); - "California Nightmare"
- Boston 31/07/98
- "Secret Gig"
- KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas
(Machina);
- "Sacred + Profane Soundboard Compilation"
- The Second Last Concert
(Other); - Ultra Rare Traxx
So what do others think? I know I haven't covered pre-Gish at all, but I'm not too big on The Marked. The only other area that's lacking is maybe a show from the arising tour. There are a few shows missing (eg- Double Door, Starchildren, Final Show) that I could have included, but in my opinion, their rather shite sound quality doesn't make them essential.
