that last post about sums it up
all the ozphorian crew met up, sorry if i forget anyone
blue june sunky truths obsessant stoliboy (i think thats you ben?) tristessa soundslikequiet trev spchick +-+ (josh, or whatever your screen name is now) and i think reece maybe . i know ive forgotten someone so im sorry
the show was awesome, i like the album now, don't know what the setlist was, but they played a today tease and the crowd went nuts. it was really intimate setting, and we were all up on the balcony less than 10m from the stage, and billy was in a great mood smiling and he is a bit of a comedian.
im going to pull a billy right now and be a bit non descript becasue im in a hurry, but one very important thing he said was ( ican't remember word for word)
"the reason ive come over here was actually to do a bit of reconasance, and see if it is worth coming back again. But i don't think i will (then he kinda said he was joking about not coming back and explained that he was joking in melbourne) and then he said, well if i do come back, ill be coming back with my band."
the crowd took 2 seconds for it to sink in on what he had just said, and then went insane. so think on that and ill post what he said on the rest of the show tommorow

I should not complain about people not remembering me *laughs* I was there. It rocked multiple casbahs. In my opinion, not counting the marquee show that was the best of the 3 TFE shows.

I'm sorry go the good people of Brisbane, but this was my least favourite of the shows. Dont get me wrong, the band sounded great and the crowd response was mostly good. This is just my personal opinion of my experience. But the venue SUCKED. I've been to some shitty venues in my life but The Tivoli took the cake. Big time.
The lack of air conditioning made the balcony unbearable, also the dood who pushed in front of me blocking my view. Downstairs wasnt much better, at least there was some airflow. However it was marred by the bogan antics of the crowd. I had to SHUSH a french or german or whatever the hell couple that were yammering on in whatever language right next to me. I mean god people if you wanna have a conversation why not stay at home and talk over the cd? Why pay $70+ to talk in a room with a bunch of sweaty people?
Also, the securty was ridiculous, no cameras, no sitting on the floor, but sure take a glass beer bottle into the crowd.
The Sydney shows were FAR better in my opinion.
However, what he said at the end about coming back with "my band" what freakin awesome. And he played Sorrows which was nice cos that was the only track hadnt played previously.
Again, no offence to the good people of Brisbane. It was cool to meet you all!

it was really intimate setting, and we were all up on the balcony less than 10m from the stage, Which side of the balcony were you on, cause I was standing right behind the people on the left balcony. My sister was the one that got the hug from billy in the carpark after the concert. She was mighty happy about that. If anyone here took the photo of her and Billy could you please let me know as we really want that photo. Thanks, Smegged

Well she was the first person (and I was the second) to run over and greet Billy as he left. Some girl asked Billy to take her letter, and he did and then Sarah was like "could I have a hug Billy?' and he was like "I'm sick" and gave her a hug anyway. By this time everyone had made it over and after that they got into the van.

I actually really love this venue, it did seem a bit hot last night which is unusual, but there are so many other worse places to play in Brisbane (the other possibility for this show would have been The [horrible] Arena), i've seen so many great artists on the Tivoli stage. I was under the left hand side balcony, slightly raised from the main dancefloor with a great little view of all of the action. Only gripe I had was with one or two people who were talking right next to me all the way through the first encore, I mean you were cheering your lungs out for an encore, why talk through it?
The first impression I got from looking at the lineup outside the venue was the ridiculous amount of Zero t-shirts that were in attendance. Faker came on, I thought they were okay, but they should tie the leadsinger down so he doesn't make such a fool of himself, it was an odd choice for the Billy support. Waiting is the worst...although the wait didn't seem to go on for so long on Friday night. (cheers roadies!)
I was overcome when Billy came on stage, tears began to well up in my eyes, finally I can see the guy who has amazed me for so many years. Johanna, seemed like such a fantastic opening, just the huge fuzzy bass loop for the first minute, then "OH YEAHHH", he put such a great performance into this song, playing a song that most of us didn't know. He quickly moved on into a couple of my favourites from the album (i think Cameraeye and A100), I was getting worried he may have peaked early for me. It was amusing how he changed guitars after almost every song, even though I couldn't really hear what he was playing in some of the songs, mostly adding to the noise that was the looping beats.
I was really glad that he seemed in such high spirits and was happy how much he just talked to us. The Today tease was absolutely hilarious in the middle of some amazing guitar playing he showcased a few times during the songs. Thank you to all the musicians this is the highlight of my short gig-going years, I won't be forgetting this one until I hear the big man rock again.

I was right at the front, down the bottom, and i wasnt really hot until the very end. And that was when everyone had been pushing to get a hand shake.
I gave billy a letter just as he was getting into the van, and he smiled at me.
he was sweet.

Well one person shoved a camera in Billy's face and took a quick photo. I think the flash may have startled him. I was really hoping that the person who took it would be either an ozphorian or a netphorian, but it doesn't appear to be so. btw was your letter written on pink paper? Cause the girl I saw give the letter to him wrote on pink paper.

Sydney got an exclusive as well In "Just a Song". Also Mini was on the Brisbane setlist but was not attempted. Was that because of the technical hitch at the start where they couldn't get the big flashy white computer to work? A replacement laptop was brought in and the gig could start!

Possibly the backing tracks/lights for Mini were on the G4 and they had to swap it for the iBook. Hrmm..

I went to both the sydney and brisbane gigs. Everything has pretty much been said but seeing billy (one of my hero's) in person is something ill never forget. 2 of the best moments of my life.
I was standing at the front on the right side balcony (near some people from here i think)
ps Where are these pumpkins fans normally??? I wear pumkins in the cilty often and yet no one says anything, nor do i see any other fans
