Hey guys, I was at the melb show last night.
Some idiots were yelling out while Billy was trying to speak, so 500 of us wanted to hear what he had to say and 5 didnt, so that 5 ruined it for all of us.
When he was in the middle of his storys this girl yelled out something about the pumpkins and billy was like "ehh" throws down his mike and walks off. I really hope the bitch who yelled out feels guilty for ruining it for all of us and even after the show at the meet and greet he had a different attitude thanks to her. In years to come when hes thinking about doing another show in Melbourne he will think of the night he walked off the stage thanks to some bitch from melbourne
I was going to get some pumpkins stuff signed but then i changed my mind
WARNING: to all those out there, DONT MENTION THE PUMPKINS
Other than that, great show and I love the lights. Billy came out with this big Heavy Metal kinda guitar for the encore, that was awesome.

i feel really sorry for billy, he is trying to do something amazing and dickheads just keep ruining it for him, and making it hard for those of us who are along for the ride with him to enjoy it!

the show rocked. It was incredible. You guys are gonna love it (sydney and bris). I now wish I was going to those shows.
The only bad thing was the wankers in the crowd yelling shit, and Billy leaving so suddenly. I thought the crowd could have been more into it too. but other then that, it was awesome.

hmmm... i disagree the show was okay (not bad not great) his antics and the whole putting a whole page ad in the chicago tribune but please dont mention the pumpkins bullshit was childish.
i have seen this guy 6 times in 3 different formats (pumpkins 4 times, zwan once, billy once) and i think he is a brilliant talented individual who is now past his best days. And it hurts me a lot to pay $73 to see a guy who is so egotistical and self removed from what his (better) past was!!
Just my opinion

I agree, He spent $30,000 for a full page add detailing how he wants his pumpkins back together, then we mention the pumpkins and he storms off, i dont really think thats the only reason why he left, he was trying to talk to us and give us info about the secret gig and theres all these people just screaming over the top of him about the pumpkins.

there is always one person, or a few that cant keep it in. Same at the Tori Amos show...all sit down and mellow and then ppl start screaming stuff out.

Yeah, but it was so cool at the Sydney show when this one girl yelled out "I love you Tori", and she replied "Wait till I've done this song", which was the Bee Gees "More than a Woman". Now that's how you deal with people like that! Hopefully Corgan's mature and humble enough to take similar action. (hehe, maybe before 'To Love Somebody')

true. Tori engaged in the conversation a little more perhaps. she asked what the person had said, and you could see she was getting a little aggitated, but she handled it well. I guess being in the quieter situation she is used to hearing the crowd, perhaps in billy's case you dont usually here ppl at a rock gig.

I wasn't the banter about the Pumpkins that pissed Billy off, it was the "I want my money back" taunts at the end that cracked him.
I blame this on the promoters moronic "Billy Corgan - THE VOICE OF THE SMASHING PUMPKINS" bullshit. Typical of an industry that exploits art intead of respecting it.
Anyway, the show was absolutely brilliant. That was the eighth time that I've seen Billy live and his performance was better than ever. Seeing those songs performed live somehow put the whole album in perspective.

I have never understood why ppl PAY to go to gigs when they dont even know if they will like what it is all about...same at a Cat Power show i went to at ANU. Everyone was sitting down on the floor, all chilled, we all knew it was that kind of show...then these drunk idiots who obviously just got in for free because their friend was on the door went to the front, stood at the barrier and abused everyone until they stood up. then 10 mins into the show when they realised it was a mellow show they left the front and we all had to stand there for the rest of the show!
doesnt it make ya angry *lol*

At this point I don't think the fact that people scream for the Pumpkins can be blamed on anything but the Pumpkins. Blaming it on the promoters is ridiculous. It's not like everyone would've forgotten he was in the Pumpkins if only the promoters hadn't told us.
It doesn't matter what they promote the show as, so long as Billy shows up there's going to be people screaming about the Pumpkins at him. Which sucks really. Because I didn't give a shit if he played Pumpkins songs or not and it kindof put a negative edge on the whole show. I would've preferred him to just wave and then leave then have the memory of him cracking it with us and storming off stage. Not that it was his fault. I know I wouldn't want people constantly screaming crap at me and interrupting what I was trying to say.
Anywho the whole thing just makes me sad and disappointed because I feel like every time I go and see him it's going to be tarnished by this kind of cockhead element because it seems like maybe 80% of the audience was made up of people who really didn't give a shit about the music at all. That show last night was about worshipping Corgan and not the music which is total bullshit as far as I'm concerned. And the fact that they kept screaming for songs that are like 10 years old now just made it worse. Shouldn't they have known he wasn't going to play Pumpkins songs? Let alone BWBW.

Hey everyone,
I went last night and was very impressed with the concert, especially with just how much Billy chatted to the crowd. It was unfortunate that there were those in the audience who could not embrace his current music and only wanted to live in the past. I did think, however, that he would have handled heckling in a more professional manner. I believe Billy definitely knows how to pique the public's interest, especially with news so huge as wanting to reform SP with a whole page advertisement that has now circulated the globe.
Perhaps fans went to see his new music, perhaps merely they wanted to hear his take on where his wish to reform the band is currently situated. Regardless, I thought Billy would've handled his/his former band's fans it in a more positive and constructive way, perhaps acknowledging the fact that his fellow musicians in SP assisted in where he is now in his life, musically, professionally and personally.
Can anyone please tell me where I can find a setlist of last night's Melb concert?
The light show was awesome, even though there were some technical difficulties. The riff from Today was brilliant and the fans loved it - which song was that in...?
I loved the light show of flames in It's A Long Way To The Top. Everyone really enjoyed that song, I believe.
I'm sure everyone in the Sydney shows (plural, you lucky things!) and Brissy will be in for a treat! Enjoy.
AJ
P. S You could hear a pin drop when he was announcing the 2nd Sydney show, couldn't you...?

it has to be said that show was the most emotional and greatest event in my life to this date. for the first time i was 100% there for the future embrace, i would have taken that show over any other tour with any other album last night it was the only place and time i truly wanted to be.
the ending was disappointing beyond words, but after an hour or two i was remembering the positives again. billy should just get up after faker and yell does anybody want to hear cherub rock more than a future embrace song. then have some goons kick out and pummel all the people who say yes...no exceptions. in his own words let the man live his life today.
ps nice to see the subtle burns are still there.."im sorry what? play us a riff?"..coolest guy ever.
now i have seen billy..without the thought of seeing him again now i sit in perth, my life is empty, but fulfilled at the same time.
thanks billy
ps. there was a meet and greet?...i so so wanted to see him before the show, and then even more after...but didnt.
