six or seven songs where dedicated to either david lee roths ass crack or just ass cracks in general lol...I remember thinking "What the hell is Maynard's obsession with people smoking crack out of ass cracks? " I think the answer to the joke was "Cause people are depressed and fuckin' horny." Or vice versa.

I was kinda sceptical about going, after having not really gotten into their second album a great deal (it was still 'good', but i thought the instrumental side of it was lacking and unoriginal), but having loved their first. Anyway, they put on a great show. Played an even mixture of songs from both albums, with Pet, The Hollow, Thinking Of You, Magdelena being some of the highlights, with the beautiful (and somewhat personal) 3 Libras as the overall highlight. Maynard was a lot more 'chatty' than i thought he would be, which was good, but i was surprised at the somewhat 'small' crowd. I went with thatpumpkinschic and a friend of hers

let me just say... oh. my. god. nothing is EVER going to top the adelaide perfect circle concert for me. no concert will ever surpass last night's. here's my recount i'd only just gotten back from my holiday about 4 hours before the concert was due to start. so i got ready, wearing my homemade pumpkins shirt which i wore to the big day out. got to the city and picked up al, then went to our friend mark's place to pick him up. doors were at 8, and once we got a park and such they were already letting people in. there was a massive line, maybe a few hundred metres long, and we thought we were going to have to join that one. but then mark saw this line about 15 metres long, so we joined that one. hehe. so we got in so quickly that i didn't have time to stuff down my subway before getting to the door. so we got inside and checked out the merchandise, which was all pretty cool, but the chick's t shirts were way too pricey! $55 yeh right! we wandered around the foyer for a bit, then went in to have a look at the support band giants of science. as we walked in to the "stadium" i guess you'd call it, it just looked so different from other times i'd been there. they'd curtained off the entire seating area, with black curtains, making the venue look about 1/4 of it's actual size. they'd also brought the stage forward about 20 metres, making the floor space even smaller. i couldn't understand how everyone was going to fit in that floor space. anyway, so giants of science came out, and they weren't too bad at all, they sounded alot like someone else, or a few other bands, but i really can't place who. anyway. they finished, and there was a short break: couldn't have been more than half an hour. we went for another short walk, then as we came back in it was a fair bit more crowded. we staked out our place, about 15 metres back on the right hand side. it wasn't too crowded at all. about 9pm, a voice came on asked us to refrain from smoking and crowd surfing and such. then, about 9.15, the band came on. everyone was going nuts of course. maynard was behind his curtain in the middle of the stage, billy at the front on our side, and jeordie at the front on the other side. james was behind jeordie, and josh was behind billy. they started with the vanishing, with maynard behind the curtain, with the cool lighting and projection onto the curtain. i was beginning to think that he wasn't even in there, just his silhoutte being projected onto the curtain! after the vanishing, they launching into pet, and maynard's curtain came down, so we could see the entire band. the amazing thing was how calm the crowd were. it wasn't rough at all. even though i'm pretty small, i would have felt fine in the front row i think. it wasn't as if people weren't into it, because they were. they sounded SO amazing. a bit later, maynard told us that there were too many churches in adelaide, so he asked jeordie to bring some satan to the night for us. jeordie and james sang this wacky little song, and i just lost it. pretty much just because of james... it was just too much to see him in the flesh. one of the four SMASHING PUMPKINS. my object of worship for seven years. so here was james on stage, all the attention on him and jeordie, and i'm there bawling. haha... they played a few more songs, and then james sang another song just by himself, which made me cry even more. the band didn't even go off stage before their encore. they just stood there and maynard said "just pretend we've gone off stage and now we're back. this is the encore". then they launched into the outsider... which was one of the highlights of the night for me. the nurse and the noose were probably my other highlights. they finished with judith, and threw some water bottles into the crowd and stuff, and waved and tackled each other and stuff. whilst it was the best concert i'm ever likely to see, it was also the earliest finishing! 10.40 and it was all over! strange! afterwards we went and got t shirts (i just got the tour shirt with the snail on the front and the dates on the back, since the others were so expensive) and caught up with a few people. i heard that the butterfly effect were asked PERSONALLY by the band to support them on the aussie tour, but they turned it down because they weren't going to be getting paid enough. $200 each a night, and they couldn't take all of their staff with them. i must say i'm disappointed in the butterfly effect for passing that opportunity up. shocked and disappointed. as my source said "they're in it for the wrong reasons". in conclusion... greatest concert ever.

Why? .... Why would Butterfly Effect turn down such an amazing opportunity?? Btw, Butterfly Effect are touring Aus. I'm going to see them in Canberra. Tix are $14.70. But anyway back to APC, Sounds like you had an awesome time.

yeah, but you see josh, if they get a crowd of say... 300 people, at 14.70, thats raises $4410. So thats quite a bit more than 200 dolars, even tho they wont get all of the 4410, they'd probably get around 10 times as much as if they were supporting APC, if not more.

Argh!! It sucks!! I would have prefered TBE to Giants of Science. *twitchtwitch* Maybe they have some "logical" reason for turning it down. *shrugs* Josh, did you wanna go see The Butterfly Effect with me and some friends on April 17th? Its good that they aren't in it for the money. Thumbs up to them.

WOW!!!
i went to c A Perfect Circle in Adelaide on Wednesday nite. this is my first chance to come on here since then, and i am still buzzin of excitment! the show was amazing, seeing James in person was too good, i found myself just watchin him for long periods of time, thinkin "OMG! thats really him!"
as for the show itself, UNBELIEVABLE. Maynard was unreal, up on the centre stage he put on an absolutly great show.
as 'thatpumpkinschic' said before, the joke about Adelaide being the city of churches, and needing some satan to 'balance' it, was so cool! the band brought a kind of intimacy with them to show, many many people in the crowd where star-gazing just like me lol.
the sound was amazing, like it surounded you.
after a wait since buying tickets in december to see them, the time between the giants of science n the 'circle was tiny, BUT UNBARABLE!.

our flight got delayed ... we ended up getting into perth at 9.30pm ... we miss APC ... bummer huh! ... but for some reason ... im not that greatly pissed off ... because i had one of the greatest weeks in melbourne will some of the coolest kids and i got to see david fucking bowie! ... i missed out on seeing James Iha ... but it wasn't James Iha from the Smashing Pumpkins, so im not that upset.
it just one of those things that happens in life ... things beyond anybodies control ... no point crying over it right?

well this is the way i see it, The Smashing Pumpkins are what mean so much to me ... not APC. Maybe I wasn't meant to see James Iha on stage playing songs written by other people ... it may have changed the way I feel and see the man.
Our first plane was faulty, so we are glad that it was checked out before take off. The last thing we would have wanted was a mid-air crash or something.
If i had missed the show becuase of some other reason - i most likely would have been pissed off ... but due to it being circumstances beyond our control there is now point getting angry.
this being said - there were some tears and swear words when we found out about the delay. We're all good now though.

I'm not bitter that we missed the show, at all. Everything happens for a reason and I wasn't totally sold on seeing APC in the first place.
I just figure there are a lot of bands I could never hope to see in my lifetime -- the Pumpkins are one. James Iha by himself or with another band is just James Iha --- together with the other members he made up The Smashing Pumpkins.
It's all good -- at least I'm alive and our plane didn't drop out of the sky (our first flight was cancelled due to maintenance issues) and I got to see Bowie on Thursday and there's always the Monday show...!

It's all good -- at least I'm alive and our plane didn't drop out of the sky Yeah, you're right That's the important thing - that you're alive, safe and well. Still...I really like A Perfect Circle's music, and the experience was just enhanced by seeing James up there playing with them. I didn't mind at all that I wasn't seeing him in The Smashing Pumpkins. Yes, of course the Pumpkins mean a lot to me too, but I'm not going to be unrealistic and miss a chance to see him just because it's not as a part of my favourite band...A Perfect Circle are pretty kick ass! I'm glad James is a part of APC now...It's good to see that he's made a good choice for a post-Pumpkins project. I would have been disheartened if, say, he had done something like Wes Borland did. He left Limp Bizkit but then formed an even crappier band. ...ok, so I know it's a bad example, but it helps to illustrate my point that I'm glad James is where he is
