Does noone else think that Pink Floyd have diminished in quality since the departure of Roger Waters?

The DVD is soooo gold. The Dark Side of the Moon section is just so good, Gilmour is my hero.

Does noone else think that Pink Floyd have diminished in quality since the departure of Roger Waters? Roger Waters, in my opinion, was probably the great song-writing force behind the band during it's best times. He was the one who largely drove the concepts on the albums. I suppose he is comparable to BIlly Corgan, in that sense. I guess after he left, you could say that a large part of what made Pink Floyd who they were was gone. However, unlike Smashing Pumpkins, the sound, imagery, aesthetic and musical synergy of Pink Floyd was more than just one man. Therefore, the band was able to carry on, with Dave Gilmour and Nick Mason re-instituting Richard Wright - they recorded a few records which were a bit hit and miss (I haven't heard 'The Division Bell', but I have read that it is regarded quite well). I guess the band might be more successful in its post-Waters days as a touring band, rather than one which produces albums. As seen on the Pulse DVD, the band was still able to put out great shows. After 'The Wall' it's debatable as to whether or not Waters really had much left in the tank with regards to Pink Floyd anyway. 'The Final Cut', being the album that came out after 'The Wall', is pretty good in my opinion, but it is almost a Roger Waters solo album, rather than a Pink Floyd album. I reckon they're a pretty interesting band to find out about - some really interesting stuff on the internet, as well as books and documentaries about various albums and the band itself. I sort of wish a band would do something like 'The Wall' these days. I guess Smashing Pumpkins from Mellon Collie and onwards tried to run with over-arching concepts on their albums - but not in the same style as 'The Wall'. I suppose My Chemical Romance tried something like it with The Black Parade - but whilst I haven't really listened to their music, I get the impression that it's not up to the grade of Pink Floyd, or any of the bands who'd be capable of replicating that sort of thing these days. I'd love to see Pearl Jam do some massive concept double album, with a theme relating to Socialism vs. Capitalism, or something like that. I'm not sure that they're in the creative space to do something like that anymore - but going back to when they recorded Vitalogy as a concept record, it makes me think that they "could" have done something like that - although, no doubt Ed would probably think the idea was too tacky and only likely to turn the band into some publicity sideshow, which he'd always tried to avoid.
