Even if it's not Zoom, it's very Zoomesque... but I most definitely do hear at least the first Zoom riff in there.

Yeah its definitely based on it. How do you think the super-hardcore fans will react to him using old riffs? is there anything wrong with it? ... I guess its no different than songs being used over a period of years - like LMGTWTY from Adore to Machina ... but this is just 13yrs old ... James and D'Arcy will have another lawsuit to file now haha! So this sound, and the sound from Zoom, is this what you were referring to Brendo? with the sound of the bass that they've used to get the dirtier, growlier sound. Would this mean Ginger would have to use that bass live ... Im not sure what her rack is like ... her bass rack. EDIT: GLOW

Zoom kicks in at 1:25 in that video there. The other stuff is all sort of 'based on', 'inspired by'.
And yeah - this is basically exactly where I was expecting it to go tonally, but I wasn't quite expecting it to be a PM riff. The SG bass is probably better for it in the studio, bit rounder and a bit higher output at the same time, so easier to push an amp into that nice distorty kind of territory.
But it looks like Ginger is playing her white bass there... and it's suitably clunky enough, she plays with a pick anyway, right? That bass is what she's comfortable using so she might as well continue with it.
The only reason to use a different bass would be for a different tuning...

Oh ok cool, yeah I guess I asked that before I saw the video - clearly the same bass that dwarfs her.
The song reminds me of how they played Set the Control live, from what I've heard so far. Jimmy's drumming is similar on both songs and the whole tone of both songs - similar. Definitely liking this direction and I can see what Billy means when he says "we are writing songs for us, not for them" ... now Billy. Don't screw it up in the studio, and don't make a shit video clip.

yeah I think it's a joke ... A lame billy joke hehe. I reckon the song was to be called Glow because of the lyrics then Billy thought let's call it GLOW after the ladies of wrestling ... That's my theory. But yeah a funny name ... Like Mayonaise I guess

Can you imagine him introducing the song? "Here's a little something I wrote for all the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling..."
Anyway, I have to say that G.L.O.W has me glowing all over! No, wait... *ahem* G.L.O.W's sounds pretty good. When I was listening to the live recording I instantly said to myself "THE Smashing Pumpkins are back!" Can't wait to hear the studio version. ;D

GLOW was just played on Q101 radio in Chicago ... there are links out there for the radio rip ... I guess it will be a good idea not to share the Mp3 around for the time being ... Im sure it will end up on SP's MySpace soon enough for those who missed it ... its on a few other forums *coughblamocough* too. I always just feel uneasy about linking to stuff here, sorry guys ... As for the song itself sounds great! ... definitely going to rock on Guitar Hero!

Also, I dont like the song that much, its not bad, its just obviously intended as a throwaway piece, its a recycled riff with "c'mon c'mon c'mon can you feel it" over the top perfect for guitar hero, but just a little tongue in cheek i feel. it is named G.L.O.W. after all

Yeah its a good song, its a "fun" song .... but there is no emotional connection with it. I like it, I've enjoyed listening to it ... but I can't wait to play it on GH ... its perfect for that. So is this just clever marketing by SP? ...

Here is my idea for the upcoming video ... this is the exclusive shot from the video shoot ... do you think the floor will be made to look like a guitar hero video screen and the coloured buttons, fret thing will be sliding under the band ... could this just be Tarantula part 2 though?
