Caught a bit of the opening ceremony before going out last night, some pretty amazing stuff on display!
I guess being a sports nut, it's 2 weeks i'll enjoy. I like nothing more than coming home after a long day of work and just getting lost in it all.
Basketball, Soccer, Swimming and the athletics events i love. Also love to see the faiytale journeys you hear about people less fortunate than us sacrificing everything just to make it (especially when they win!)

When I was a kid and we went to Europe we watched it, its awesome, but there has never been anywhere to play it in Perth ... sucks. Looks like a heap of fun to play, funny how its a game thats big in Europe and our sports loving country has never gotten into it. Found this cool blog from a photographer at the games: thestar.blogs.com/olympicphotos/Tight trains!

we caught some of the opening ceremony, from when all those peeps in the amazing robes were dancing with the wooden scrolls. Their outfits were gorgeous, and can i just say that the Chinese know how to stay of their mark - they were amazingly in sync!

Wasn't it, right till the last 5 mins ... but still the Olyroo's did well. Can I ask a soccer question ... difference between Socceroo's and Olyroo's? ... are there the same players? I didn't recgonise anybody in the Aussie team.
Just watched Croatia and Australia in the Basketball ... jeez guys! ... urgh. They played alright, but yeah pretty bad loss. DOn't know if anybody else caught the quarter they televised ... bloody Andrew Gaze kept using the word "penetration" ... Im so immature I kept giggling.

Olympic football is competed by the under 21 team, with the exception of 3 over 21 players...
Olyroo's = Under 21 national Side, Socceroo's = the adults team.
So we lost the basketball to the Croats? I'm watching a non olympics sports telecast.

I love the olympics! Pity NZ only has one or two medal hopes in mark tood (equestrian) and maybe beatrice faumiuna in discus But still My favorites are fencing and weightlifting, haven't seen any yet though.
always reminds me of jerry seinfeld - im telling you for the last time. " because you know getting bronze is great, at least you got something for your effort, and gold is great, but at the olympics the silver medal usually loses by .1 of a second. "I trained every day for the last four years, got up early every day, and I lost by now to now, no now to now"
not as funny written sorry.

u-23 foxy Thought we did pretty well to keep the likes of messi and riquelme so quiet - having said that i think Argentina had a bad day at the office. With Ivory Coast beating Serbia, we have to beat Ivory Coast in our last game to go through to the quarters

Thanks guys. Thats really odd, considering the basketbball used to be like that years ago before they allowed NBA players in... surprisingly after the USA lost to USSR/Russia. Also HG and Roy are Triple J this arvo ... Golden Rings!

They have Argentina tonight i think?
We lost to them by 4 in the warm ups and Lituania upset them in their last match, but they are QUALITY. We will see...
So happy to see Hayden Stoekel get a bronze today (dead heat for 3rd!). He's a friend from school back in Country SA....seemed a bit disappointed and i guess he may feel let down after smashing the olympic record in the heats, but the bigger picture is that the guys won an Olympic medal for Australia - Good on him!

so i stayed up and watched the boomers, they went to showjumping at half time and it took over the third quater. Now seriously, I enjoy watching the show jumping, but fuck it was annoying. Sbs has their coverage right, play the whole event right through.
ANYHOW, Australia were terrible, shit defense (our full court press was better than our zone. Considering how awesome our zone was against USA last week its just beyond me.) Bogut was pedestrian (though to be fair, he is shithouse. I don't understand the hype, every time I've seen him for the bucks he has been terrible.) Patrick Mills was the star again for me, needs to work on his jump shot but at least he has the right idea. The way these games have been officiated -with lots of soft fouls, speed in the key and drawing fouls is the best way to win these games.
CHRIS ANSTEY needs to fuck off. That guy is a waste of space. He was trying turn around jumpers from outside the key, taking three pointers. Seriously so frustrating.

Swimming.. 1 min of another sport, Swimming... 1 min of another sport repeat. Ive been watching sbs way more.

Damn Boomers, Nothing ever changes - I didn't stay up for it i must admit. Such a letdown after the optimism they created last week.
Caught the last quarter/overtime of China-Spain. China had contolled the game but Spain just worked them over in the end to win by 8 or so. So much talent on show - Spain have a great team, i really want to see them and Argentina head to head.
SBS is good because it isn't so Australia-centric so to speak. I mean it's awesome to see our athletes go at it and compete, but i also want to see the best in the world strut their stuff regardless of country!

Bree's Dad came up with a classic joke on Sunday. (Such a Dad joke too) If Stephanie Rice farted while swimming ... you'd get Rice Bubbles.

BOOMERS TONIGHT AT 10PM (eastern) against USA...
Imagine if we win, i know we probably wont.... But the thought of it makes me smile. If channel 7 cut away from it for quaters at a time (like they did against argentina) Im not going to be a happy man.
I know they'll have to cut to the 200m final. I hope to god Bolt is not on the gear, he is just awesome. Does it with so much ease.

Boomers vs the United States tonight in 2004 we didn't discrace ourselves and competed for 3 quarters, and in the warm up games we played very well against a lazy/uninterested US. We pay $23 for a win while they are $1.005 - Andrew Gaze says it would be the biggest upset in Australian sports history - But of course i've been sitting here all day thinking "what if" and "imagine!" My friends and i sent group e-mails during the working day sometimes and i posed a statement- "If the Boomers win, i will.....". Not too many responses, but if the Boomers win tonight, i'm going to donate $100 to charity

Well Congrats to Channel 7 for cutting to this game halfway to go in the second quarter. Now i understand you can't please everyone, but this was 1) one of the most hyped matches in the entire thing, and 2) A BIG part of 7's advertising for the night viewing - Australia vs the USA. Judging by my phone inbox, Foxy wasn't too pleased either , luckily i was told of an internet stream. I have a feeling au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/sunrise/contact/ would be taking some very hard hits of late
