en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_hadron_colliderThe Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest particle accelerator complex, intended to collide opposing beams of 7 TeV protons. Its main purpose is to explore the validity and limitations of the Standard Model, the current theoretical picture for particle physics. The LHC was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and lies under the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. So will this cause black holes and end the world? Check here: hasthelargehadroncolliderdestroyedtheworldyet.com/Good day for Doomsday Clock huh?

I read about this is one of dan brown's books, I can't remember which one but he tied it in with a story. I thought it was already running, but he must have heard about it and wrote about it before it was finished.
I doubt it will be the end of the world, but it may allow us to see antimatter, and dark matter and understand what they actually are.

"A 16-year-old girl from Sarangpur, Madhya Pradesh, India allegedly committed suicide after watching Indian news channels stating the possibility of Doomsday as the experiment begins.[45]"

Woah. That's pretty intense, surely you'd just wait it out to see what happens... obviously not.
And yeah i saw a doco on it a while ago, the way i understood it was they're looking for the higgs field i think it was called, which is the part of the standard model they dont fully understand, and they think it controls the relationship between cause and effect... i think that was right, so basically if they can figure it out, they may unlock another dimension or the innermost workings of the universe in best case scenario. woop.

Pfft to your documentary watching, I got my info from Dr. Karl on Sunrise He was saying it will also help to unlock Mass which is something they don't fully understand, which would help with space travel in the sense that it costs like $1 million to send 1 tonne into sapce (example only!) and that is the weight of the space craft, but imagine if we can take away the mass, send it into space and then give it back its mass! Save money and allow us to go further also!

haha funny
from angels and demons - dan brown I understood that they can photograph dark matter anihilating normal matter also.
A ten billion dollar explosion!?!?!? only us males could have thought this up. Deep down all we ever want to do is go fast or blow stuff up.
This really is a large hardon collider.
