Is being a vegetarian really alot cheaper sunks for you? This isn't me having a go, its a serious question, obviously meat is not cheap, but every vegetarian dish I make I find that I have to eat alot more of it, or put alot more ingredients in to try and fill me up?

Nah its a good question, the cost thing isn't a huge difference ... maybe $30 bucks a week. We weren't huge meat eaters anyway.

Foxman, it is cheaper when you consider that if you were going to buy a roast then it'd cost you anywhere from $15 onwards depending on the size of the roast you were after. It is cheaper in many ways but sometimes it's hard to find time and be motivated to go and do the weekly veg shop. We're lucky that our local fruit and veg market is open til late and just around the corner!
A lot of my co-workers give me grief about being vegetarian. I'm not one to wear it as a badge or to go around preaching to everyone or anything but on the occasions when I've had to decline offers of lunch or work functions involving meat platters or catering from fast food restaurants, people seem to find cause to make me feel like I'm a grade A moron for sticking by my decision, morally and ethically - not to mention for my own health.
