the strangest thing about the ad i thought is that the domain that they have at the end goes to a domain squatting page. Wonder if they've since bought it (i checked it after i posted the link in here).

OK - so did BC edit to advert also? thats kinda cool.
While Bree is bathing (no need to take that comment any further) I had a listen to FOL for the first time and then watched the ad - I like it. Again. I kinda like it for what it is. BC is so great at writing those BIG, punchy (good word bree), rock out with your little guy out, stadium songs - this is another great example. I think it will be a great one to see live, just like Tarantula (for me) made more sense to me when I saw it live.

This is cool, its very much still in the glow mould, nothing overly substantial about it, but at the same time the song itself it a billion times better, it does its job well. the lyrics that arent him saying feel our love over and over again seem to be much better too.

this is the most uncool thing i've ever heard. zeitgeist was/is embarassing enough, i've learned to ignore that and act like they no longer exist, but really, wtf...
that guitar tone sounds like nu-metal butt mud, im pretty sure thats the name of the plugin in protools to get that sound... fuuuuuuuucking awful... thats not even getting into it being for a hyundai commercial... dear god.. why...

So after a few listens, and the excitement dying down ... there is something annoying me. Corgan's vocals. Its like the music punches up a level, but his vocals don't. They stay middle of the road the whole way along.
Now I've noticed it, I can't get into it.

The mix is off. I think maybe what we are hearing was mixed for the add perhaps? The drums are wayyy quiet. At some points you can hardly hear them.
This song is complete rubbish. Good on billy for trying to do something different, but I really wish it wouldn't end up being this shit.
Fail !!

I have actually only listened to it twice. It is what it is, there isn't really much to get out of it. Like I said, I think it will get played live because it has a big sound to it.
What Simon was saying about the vocals seems similar to my opinion of the recording on Superchrist. That just has no feeling to it at all - and after hearing it live so many times, played with such feeling - the official recording is terrible.

I actually really enjoyed FOL. And G.L.O.W., and Superchrist, and lots of songs off Zeitgeist, and pretty much everything off American Gothic. FOL's got a nice sound to it, nice riffage indeed. Am I the only person on the planet who likes current-day Pumpkins?

i dont like it...listen to it then listen to thru the eyes of ruby off mellon collie, thats my benchmark, and it falls way short, something is lost and has been for quite some time...its like we're listening to billy's twin brother, looks like him sounds like him but still just isnt "him".
*sigh* next song billy please seeming as this is the format of your choice

is it wrong not expecting anything as brilliant as thru the eyes of ruby, or *insert awesome song here*? FOLs not a brilliant song, but i dont think that means its complete shit. And none of zeitgeist compared to their best songs, but if your only going to listen to something if its tops their previous best work, there wont be much to listen to.
i would have guessed gavvvvin was a joke account, if the account hadnt been registered 10 months ago.. weird first post.

The song is a bit of a let down, it has it's moments but yeah, hit and/or miss.
This "mix" or "master", whatever you wanna call it is already pretty shite. The guitar/bass tone is like RIGHT in your face, at low volumes all you can hear is the guitar/bass just enveloping everything, then you hear Corgans hushed vocals pulled back, as well as Jimmy's drums pushed way back in the mix, not allowing the drums to really add any dynamic within this recording, I hate the "tacky" sound of the kick drum, where all you can hear is the beater hitting the head, not the actual sound of the shell.
Hopefully SP's next output will not only be a superior song but superior mix as well, fancy allowing something of that studio quality to be allowed on the internet as a somewhat "official" new release. Can't really help matters.

man is it retarded arguing over a song debuted on a commercial, it is unequivocally awful sounding. the song goes nowhere and is flatout embarassing, and i will never listen to it again, once was insulting enough. if you like it based on the sound alone, i would seriously worry about your musical taste.. that is the most gratingly slick and overproduced nu metal buttrock sound i've ever heard...

im not interested in your opinion or changing it, merely expressing my own, better opinion, and pointless embarrassment for this once great band.. hey if it does something for you, great, but i can't help but question what that is exactly.. and like most blind superfans/devotees, whenever i pop in here, you especially make it abundantly clear you're incapable of free and discerning thought
EDIT: KEEP IT CIVIL!

I have a theory.
Billy has said he's been offered millions of dollars for Tonight Tonight and I think 1979 to be used in commercials. But he said the songs are too special to be sold out.
Using that logic, this song is fantastic for an add. In that it is an example of pure crap.
That said, apart from the financial gain for Billy and Co, I can't imagine this song having any positive effect on the band, other than lowering everyones expectations for their future musical output, and therefore perhaps suprising the fans when what they next produce isn't quite as shit.
