Well, thought I'd start a thread for this ... Tonight we are seeing the Cats play their final tour in Australia, starts off in Perth tonight. One of the guys I work with is in a rockabilly band in Perth and part of the scene here. Anyway his friend that works for a shipping company that is looking after the Cats gear invited him down on Friday to see all the instruments and outfits. He showed me some of the photo's he took ... so jealous. He got a few photo's of him with Brian's guitars, Slim Jim's drums and Lee Rockers double bass ... and their wardrobe's were just insane. These full portable set ups with photo's of classic rockabilly stars, hot rod cars ... everything you would expect. Also there was a cool collection of shoes and so much hair wax! like about 20 tubs of the stuff ... hahah! Also I found out that the guys were holding their first rehersal right around the corner from where Bree and I used to live. That was last night (Saturday). Also the band that is supporting them tonight is Day of the Dead, the guitarist is Bree's old boss ... so check them out: www.dayofthedead.com.au/profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=57229457Anyway ... Im so excited its not funny!

that's so awesome!!! i want to hear all about it, eeek i'm so excited! i've been wondering who the supports would be. are they just going one Perth show? there's three Melbourne ones, i'm going to the first and have another gig on the same night as the second, but maybe if there's tix left to the third i might go. i've been secretly hoping i'll see the guys from The Living End there, or that Chris would join them on stage, haha. i was looking in JB for more of their stuff to get but it was just a bunch of different Best Ofs so i didn't bother, i've just got this one:

I've been thinking about the same thing with TLE ... ... they'd have to do something ... wouldn't they? Yeah I've got 2 best of's ... actually 3 ... there was a Best Of but it was just live recordings of the songs ... seriously how many do they have? ... the 2 I have aren't the one you posted either.

okay cool. the ones i saw were probably the ones you own, they had all the same songs so didn't see the point in buying them. i still haven't bought their live DVD though, i don't really watch music dvds that much. do you have that?
i don't think TLE will do anything with them... it's a farewell tour after all, so i guess it's all about them. i'm hoping i'll see the guys watching from the side or something though, or maybe see Andy walking around. maybe i'll go and lurk on the TLE forum for a bit and see what people are saying.
this is kind of random, but did you ever see the episode of 90210 where Brian performed at the After Dark? it's from season 9, it's not on youtube though. he plays about three songs, it's cool. /90210 nerd

Oh you'll know a lot! ... you've never heard Gene and Eddie? I'll hook you up ... its my favourite track. I'll hook you up. Anyway the show was AMAZING! We had so much fun. The energy these guys have is unbeleivable, the stage antics were crazy, the songs were perfectly played too. A really great mix and you could see they were sad to be saying goodbye I guess ... I think this time is for real. Got to hear Rock this Town, Stray Cat Strut, Rumble in Brighton, Crybaby, Gene and Eddie, Fishnet Stockings, Runaway Boys, I Fought the Law and a bunch of others too ... and there were songs I didn't know, but I still got into them. I only had my iPhone on me, so the photo's don't do the show (and our spot) justice:

Bec, I danced so much that I had incredibly sore legs and had to stand under the hot shower for a while when we got home so I could walk to bed!

I got this one: www.flickr.com/photos/brunky/3287809686/they also had their best of album (the rumble in brighton one) for sale ... what a surprise!

someone else confirmed it for me, it's them!!!!!! this is going to be the best night ever!
there's another band called Runaway Boys now who are a ripoff of both Stray Cats and TLE haha. they supported TLE on the pre-White Noise tour last Feb when they were testing out the new songs as the Longnecks. Chris was the singer's guitar teacher i think. they were alright, i didn't see big potential though like i'd imagine people saw with TLE back in the day.

hahaha i thought you were serious about the flights for a sec. i can't take video because i've got my DSLR, but believe me i'll be taking plenty photos. imagine if they came out and played with them for Stray Cat Strut - omfg! what was the encore at your show? i think i might hang around after the show and try and meet either band, depending on how many other people are waiting.

They did 2 encores, so don't leave! the second encore was ... something I can't remember right now and then they finished with 'I Fought the Law' ... which was awesome! I hope TLE play some of their old school rockabilly tracks, Living in Sin, Hellbound, Table Top Show, The Living End, Strange , Closing In ... actually I could see them playing a full instrumental set. Something special. When we saw TLE on the last tour I swear they tease Stray Cat Strutt while they were waiting for Chris' guitar tech Can't wait to see the photo's ...

hahaha, okay i'm back! i got back to my car and the fucker wouldn't start (didn't this morning either) so i had to get the RACV to come and jump start me, it didn't ruin my night though! so TLE were the only support, and it was a big secret right up until they came one because there were no signs or anything up stating the playing times or anything. i saw Rae out the front before the gig but i don't know if i would have remembered it was her if i didn't know TLE were gonna be there. anyway they played a setlist that was fairly similar to their normal shows but just shorter and less of their hits. they pulled out English Army in the middle though which was awesome, it was cool to be able to hear it with Chris's matured singing voice, it sounded really good. Chris kept looking at me cos i was singing all the words ;D hopefully a video will show up somewhere. and i'm pretty sure this was the first time EVER that i've seen them and they didn't play Prisoner, thank fucking god! at the end Chris said it was their last song, and a few seconds later was like "those no's don't sound very convincing". people just didn't seem anywhere near as excited to see them as i expected... maybe alot of people showed up later not knowing, i'm not sure. i took a bunch of pics but i knew i'd have to sneak my camera in so i just took my 50mm lens, and i managed to bypass the bag check so i got it in okay, but spent the whole time wishing i had my other lens Stray Cats opened with Rumble In Brighton which was cool, but after that the next two songs i didn't know. i probably knew about two thirds of the set, so it was really fun but i just wished i'd have known all the songs, especially after singing along to every single word of TLE. their suits were hilarious! (kind of hilariously bad), but once they took of their jackets they weren't quite as bad. oh yeah and i was a little to the right of the middle, front row, right in front of Scott/Lee Rocker. Rock This Town went off, that was easily my favourite of the night. the crowd seemed a bit weird, i was expecting they'd be cheering like crazy the whole night but it didn't really seem like it... it was only their big hits that everyone seemed to sing along to. and for the second encore..... CHRIS CAME OUT!!! i actually got tears in my eyes, i was so happy for him. they played three songs together but i didn't know any of them so that was kind of disappointing but yeah, all in all a really great show. i wouldn't go quite as far as saying it was awesome seeing as i've only been listened to the Cats heavily for a short amount of time, but it was a great night and i'm glad i went. oh yeah and after the show i was standing around talking to a friend, still on the dancefloor but nowhere near the stage, and i looked down and one of Brian's guitar picks was on the fucking ground right in front of me! i'll feel bad if someone else had it and dropped it. wow that was a long post, sorry! just had to get it all out before i forget stuff. i'll post pics soon, probably not until saturday though cos i'm shooting Kaki King tomorrow night.

nah i just took my 50mm, i knew it'd be impossible to get my other lens in. it's so annoying, the 50mm gets such better shots but i love having zoom! i'm not ready to fork out heaps for something with a great zoom and low aperture. one day....
