Billylist?
Its odd to do this shout out to fans ... but its also a way of trying to bridge the gap. I can see them getting ALOT of backlash for this, but then I think of bands like You Am I and Davey Lane. Here they hired a fan of the band and it worked.
Perhaps this is just for the current songs or perhaps this is just a way of getting the feelers out there.

I dream about this every day hey.
Why the hell is this being held in less than 2 weeks?!?!?!?!? I'm going to apply and see if I get a response anyway. But imagine taking the job of the guy that i've looked up to after so many years?? Weird.

Im thinking this might be just for the recording of the new songs, nothing is saying about being "the one" drummer to replace Jimmy. We'll need some clarification I guess, good luck Russ ... get some videos going. Everybody seems to be bagging on about this guy: www.youtube.com/user/11111phil11111Russ you got it to beat him?

Smashing Pumpkins Drummer audition information
March 30, 2009 | 1266 views
Billy Corgan is currently searching for talented musicians to join him. If you have an exceptional drumming ability and a desire to be part of a massive creative and progressive musical project with a rich 20-year history, then continue reading below.
The Smashing Pumpkins are continuing to make music after the departure of original member Jimmy Chamberlin. When Jimmy originally auditioned for The Smashing Pumpkins, he was playing in a locally touring jazz band that was playing weddings and street fairs. It just goes to show that you never know where the next big talent will come from.
The Smashing Pumpkins are taking submissions for recording and touring drummers. There may be multiple positions open for this call for entries.
What to submit:
* Resume - include a list of bands, shows, awards, education * Photograph / headshot * Any music / audio you have showcasing your talents. Links to digital files are encouraged. * Video links are also encouraged
To submit your information, send an email with resume and links attached to pumpkinsdrummer@gmail.com.
Auditions will be held Friday, April 10 in Los Angeles for drummers who are looking to play with The Smashing Pumpkins.

Without sounding too sure of myself..... yes, I definitely can. I wish I had some more footage to submit. Simon, don't suppose Jon ever came good with the footage he grabbed from the tribute night did he? He said it came out pretty well considering the circumstances... but of course i've never gotten a copy

that dude is pretty damn good.
that being said - i dont know alot about drumming. Good luck to him though.
people love him cause they dont know any better. Luckily he's pretty humble about it all. He'd be a wanker to audition thinking its in the bag cause a dozen or so people on youtube think he should be a shoo in!

He's pretty good with Jimmy's drums ... but coming up with the stuff on his own is another story I think.

I wonder if they've contacted any of the applicants yet. I hate waiting, though I probably don't have a chance anyway.
Hope whoever replaces Jimmy is just as good... and as cool...
