glittercop.blogspot.com/Mr. Mark Tulin [...] will [be] playing a 1963 Fender Jazz bass through a 1963 Ampeg Portaflex flip-top bass amp [and] Billy is playing a 1961 Les Paul Junior Special through a Sound City Studio 20 amp, truly amazing sounding. *** Hey Brendo (or anyone who may know) you seem to know a fair bit about music equipment and all that, can you give us a walk through in regards to the equipment they're using and the difference between analog and digital recording? If you've got some time haha!

analog v. digital... basically analog sounds better, because of the way the tape reacts to audio - you can push it a little harder and it compresses nicely, or back off and it's nice and clear.
the sound city studio 20 is a home stereo styley amp, 20w dual el84. probably rewired for guitar, el84's are usually jangly/chimey/dirty, which is all fun stuff.
oh and the portaflex, the B-15 is a very versatile studio rig, for just about any style of music, any room, any bass, any player etc.

Reading through their drum mic pick list now, and wow, I actually own some of those mics and have used several more of them.
Pretty much every microphone he's listed is a "classic". Surprised he put the 47 on floor instead of kick, but then he's already got three mics on the kick.
