Just got thru watching it. Here are my thoughts: - I loved the jangly dream pop guitar riff (I hope I'm describing that right) Jeff was playing in 1979. Absolutely brilliant. Kind of like what this song would sound like if it was on Siamese instead of MCIS. Reminds me of the Cure as well. - Great to see Drown getting some plays. Hope Billy decides to bust out some more classics from the SP back catalogue. Rhinoceros, anyone? - Nicole's bass is so heavy and dirty, yet somehow still beautiful. I love it! She fits into the band perfectly. - Nice to hear Freak on an acoustic guitar again. Definitely works in an intimate concert setting. - LOL @ "And do you know the score? :: 'cuz I'm so gash-darn bored." Kind of sucks he couldn't say "fucking" as it has so much more power behind, but I digress. - I hate how they shill their show in between tracks. I JUST WANT THE MUSIC ASSHOLES. - Really enjoy this stripped-down (i.e. synthless) version of "A Stitch in Time." Kind of wished they played "Spangled" instead, since I think it would have had a lot of effect with this atmosphere (in the same vein as the performance of "Stand Inside Your Love" from their Storytellers performance). Still a lovely version. This really does sound like a song that would have fit in well on American Gothic. - "That's the Way" sounds so much better on an acoustic guitar and with a subtle jangly riff over the top of it. Really wish they'd recorded it this way on Zeitgeist. I remember the acoustic version of this was a pleasant surprise on Sunky's Zeitgeist Live mixtape. - I'm still a bit split on Mike's drumming. He doesn't seem to have as much energy as he did during the performance for World Stage. It could just be the intimate atmosphere, but I don't know. However, I will say that he is very quite talented for his age and that he has plenty of time to perfect his art. - The intimacy of the performance reminds me a lot of the Max Sessions. Would really like to see the band do one of those next time they're down here. Sucks that they never got to record that Unplugged concert Billy was talking about during the MCIS era. Overall, this performance has once again reaffirmed my love and passion for this band. The SP flame in me doesn't look like it's going out anytime soon, which I am very happy about.
