ok. the wierdest thing. I now have a band. Basically me and some of my friends are organising this concert at school for the start of youth week, and the 20th anniversary of the school. We have hired bands such as Terra Firma (adelaidian's may know them from their BDO performance this year. They're hip hop, not my choice in music but anyway) and Error (my freind's band). When we had the whole line up set out, their was still a quarter of an hour left to fill, so my friend David and me formed a band and are playing a 1/4 hour set.
I took the liberty of naming the band Czarina. We were going to play some songs like Soothe and Mayonaise, but this has proved too difficult to put together in a week's time so we are working around what he already knows how to play.
We will be playing Disarm, Statues (david's song), and About A Girl all acoustically next friday. It might be good, it might be shit, I guess I'll find out.

I'll see what I can do, hopefully I'll record the whole thing, but if it turns horribly wrong, don't expect to see it. Here's hoping that doesn't happen though, in which case it will more than likely find it's way here.

Ok , here's what happened on friday. All day, I was setting up the event with some other people on the organising commitee, setting up sound equiptment, lights and such. The sound guy didn't rock up until 3.00, by which time the first band had also arrived, giving him less than an hour to get the levels right, and do a sound check of the first band before the doors opened. So they get their sound check done just in the nick of time andthen everyone starts to file in. By this piont in time, I'm shitting myself as I've never sung with a mic before, and Ii'm not sure how it will affect my voice or if it will put me off. Half way through the first band, my friend Peter from the band Error (singer/guitarist/drummer/pianist/rockstar expertist) ---> rocks up and has a chat with me for a while about his band's preposed name change ( there is a band from the U.S. that now have the name Error registered and are getting airplay. I mean shit they've got half of NIN and some guy from Bad Religion in them). By the time we have finished talking, the second band ( some gay christian punk band) start and me and Peter get as far away from the god awful music as we can and start playing pumpkins and Radiohead songs on the piano. After the Jebus band finish, I'm on; I flog Peter's guitar amp so David can plug my axe into it and we head onto stage. After some words of advice from Pete, we sit down and begin our short set. We kick off with Disarm, and I come to the realisation that I sing everything an octave lower than I thought I did. The song gets a good audience responce (surprisingly, as I thought it sounded like shit). After that, we go into David's song Statue, with him singing and playing guitar, leaving me to the haunting backing vox. By the end of this song, my voice had warmed up and I'm ready to sing our closer for the night About AS Girl. This is our best performed and best recieved song, with many people ,I beleive, genuinly surprised at my singing capabilities. So apart from the (in my opinion) horrid rendition of Disarm, the nigh went well, with the bands after us pulling out steller sets.

Congratulations. I;m really looking forward to when I'm good enough to play in front of other people with a guitar. I think my bass playing could be good enough, but I don't have anyone else to play with! Hope you have many more gigs yet to come, Bryn.
