I was thinking about this last night; to the best of my knowledge they haven't played any Pumpkins tracks co-written with James, ie Mayonaise, I Am One etc...
Their absence may be because Billy doesn't think it's 'right' (insert justification) to play songs that he wrote with James.
I haven't heard Billy talk at all about this choice of songs in setlists other than the recent radio interview where he talks about the record with Jimmy in which I believe Jimmy says something to the extent of "We will be playing the darker pumpkins" because "you can understand the sunshine when you've been standing in the rain"...
Can anyone clarify this?
So, not to douse Sunky's hopes of Mayonaise! But perhaps this is a reason for it's absence?
(also, this would be awful because we may never hear SOMA live again...)

With respect to your opinion i would have to disagree...It would just be odd that Billy would bring back the Pumpkins without James, but then not play songs he wrote with James out of respect, a bit of a cop out...
But hey, it could be a number of things and time will tell.
And i'm with you on Soma!

yeah, they soundchecked it.
Also james had alot of contributions to songs that weren't worthy of songwriting credits (solo for zero springs straight to mind) and while technically its not the same as having songwriting credits, the presence is clearly felt. If billy didnt want to play songs because of James' contribution i don't think he would have started the pumpkins up again.
I reckon they either A) havent practiced it enough yet or B) just dont want to play it.

and daydream has been played, so it would be weird to "respect" james but not darcy in the setlists.

hehe. I actually thought the same thing after the first few shows happened. But after Billy started playing some of the other tracks, I got the feeling there are other reasons.
In one of the recent shows Billy says he knows Geek USA, but just doesn't want to play it. You hear Jimmy say something like "I can play it!" I get the feeling that they are either saving these (and other tracks) for the Fillmore gigs or Billy just isnt ready to dust these songs off yet.

Ok - heres a theory that I've been sitting on for a while (I'm not sure how accurate it is though) Fact - Muzzle was supposed to be a single off Mellon Collie Fact - Thirty-Three was the fisrt single post J.C.'s dismissal Thirty-Three has a distinct absence of drums - was this song released as a single so as not to draw attention to the missing Jimmy? Please be gentle in shooting me down

Oh - if youre wondering how the above post is relevent to the thread - my point is: Do the Pumpkins promote/perform songs that dont include all original creators (or something to that end)

I read that as Greek USA.
And I was about to say, Billy needs more chest hair for that...

Man, I hope they start playing Mayonaise, just like they did at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Concert (1993-10-26). That show had the best live versions of both Disarm & Mayonaise i've heard! I read that as Greek USA. And I was about to say, Billy needs more chest hair for that... ...& back hair, & nose hair, & ear hair, & elbow hair ect.

Please be gentle in shooting me down I don't think it was so much to draw attention away from the missing Jimmy but actually to draw attention to it. It would have been kind of weird for them to do a video for song that features Jimmy on drums but then only Billy, James and D'arcy be in it. The song and the video for Thirty-Three have a somber and contemplative tone (well not that Muzzle isn't contemplative, but I hope you know what I mean). I think it was quite appropriate given all that had happened over the course of the 'Summer of Tragedy' as it was once called. It also brought us down quietly from the saga that was MCIS.
