For those Jebs fans on here, our good friend Jon recorded this from the In The Pines performance in Perth. Setlist: 01. Monument 02. Comet 03. Fall Down 04. No Sleep 05. To Your Door 06. Jerks Of Attention 07. Star Machine I'll be uploading an MP3 of the full set. It's a bit hissy, listenable. It was taken from the RTR FM stream ... the announcers are Perth wankers. Here's the link - rapidshare.com/files/109185826/Jebediah_In_The_Pines_2008.zipThe new songs like To your Door are amazing, we were lucky enough to hear them late last year when Jebs did a handful of shows in WA. They have broken up with their manager Heath, who has managed them for 10yrs now (he looks after Snowman, The Silents etc) but yeah - they are totally free agents, managing themselves and they are recording end of this year with a release for early next year. Note: In The Pines is an annual festival of great Perth bands, always a fun day ... its held out in a forrest of pines ... obviously.

Anyone heard the new Coldplay yet? Just leaked online... only 128kbps so quality less than ideal, still good for a first listen... don't mind it, but i've liked them from the start. It's a bit less stadium-y than X&Y, so a step forward in my mind! Only first listen, but standout tracks - Strawberry Swing and 42. Also New York Pony Club and Tokyo Police Club added to the Splendour lineup - don't like either of them but happy they'll draw some crowd away from other acts Happy friday

i'm waiting to buy Viva La Vida, i rarely download leaks, especially not for bands i'm a fan of. they'll be out here by the end of the year, hopefully it won't be too expensive like last time. Coldplay used to be my 3rd favourite band, now they've dropped out of my top 10, and probably wouldn't even make my top 15. i've just kind of gone off them since X&Y...
new Alanis album tomorrow, can't wait

No info yet, but last time they were here they played the backroom in byron! Here's hoping...
And i'm waiting to buy viva la vida also... but can't help the dl'ing! Knowing theres music out there of a band i really like just doesnt sit with me! X&Y was a big let down for me too, but i'm loving Viva la Vida, and may well see them live again... provided tickets aren't ridiculous prices to see them in a shit sounding stadium - oh, wait, that was last time.

“A Day In The Life”, the seminal Sgt. Peppers’ closer and arguably the finest piece of modern music ever, was performed live by a Beatle for the first time ever last Sunday by its only surviving co-author, Paul McCartney, at the Liverpool Sound festival. It’s a near-perfect performance, the only real thing stopping this baby from being perfect, is the fact Macca stumbles his own lines! It was one thing to get all of John’s part down pat, Paul, but your own part? It’s only like, thirty seconds long. If that!

You thinking to many drugs Steve? ... I've been kind of worried about a downward spiral for him, the huge success they are having again ... its worrying.

Well, it seems the signs are there. And following the break up it could be a bit of a worry.
Lets hope not, but i think this is going to come under the microscope a bit unfortunately.

It's always difficult to say how much he's putting on. You could tell he was definitely not in a good way underneath his jovial slapstick routine at big day out, but you really cant tell, sometimes he seems completely gone and he's fine. The video wouldnt load for me i just saw the pic in which he does look rather out of sorts, was there anything specific that went on?

Josh is a bit of a dick in my opinion, and this shows it. It was interesting to see him on the Australian tour, and how they have a total different idea on how to interact with the crowd compared to other bands. He would be telling crowds to go nuts and be as wild as possible ... then the Pumpkins who have had 2 people die at shows telling the crowd to behave and be nice to each other ... totally different. Im sure in the early days SP where the same, but when it happens to them Im sure Queens might change their mood.
I'm not saying its great that people throw things at bands (I never understood the logic), but when he is condoning violence towards people in the crowd of course that aggression will also be taken out on everybody there … including the band ... so they throw things ... you can't expect to keep a crowd calm towards you when you're getting them bash each other.

Point taken. However, I play in a band, we gig quite a bit and I'm the lead singer and in my mind there is nothing more frustrating than idiot / fuckwitted audience members heckling, harassing or just being invalid humans towards me or the band. You try to ignore the activities of these individuals, but every now and then, you just lose it and unfold six degrees of hell on these kind of people. I've only ever been verbally agressive towards said characters, but having had bottles and other assorted objects also been thrown at us you soon fly into a rage. Perhaps I'm an arrogant piece of shit, but from where I'm standing on the stage, it just feels like another example of fans morphing into pure consumers, not people coming to witness art and entertainment. I do however agree with what you said.

I totally understand, I never get the logic of people attending a show to just cause trouble with the band or even fellow punters. I would hate it if people stood there hurling abuse at me while Im trying to do my job and entertain them. Also rock shows are rock shows - I don't expect everybody to sit back and clap after every song and say "Good job ol' chap" either.
