Quite frankly I think the chili peppers have now exhausted themselves of options, John completely took over the band on stadium, Im at the point where I hope they call it quits and John joins volta as a full time touring member. I totally get what you mean about BTW and Shadows, he was definitely striving towards the same goal on both, all about the layers and the textures. I dont actually have Sphere in the heart of silence, Ill have to check it, its just a matter of getting round to buying all of his stuff, it seems to go in and out of shops pretty randomly, and i never have money when i find the stuff i want. What's peoples opinions on 'Smile From the Streets You Hold'? Perssonally, despite him throwing it together for drug money, I think its a truly great work, its so unguarded and it somehow really draws me into its world. If anything I think there are just too many ideas going on at once, its as though he couldnt focus on a single strand of an idea, he just put everything together. A Fall thru the ground is really beautiful too. Listened to the new John Frusciante song "Unreachable" on the weekend my god, it is amazing. Reminds me of Pink Floyd mixed with Jimi Hendrix but done in that complete John Frusciante style, so amazing.

Listened to the new John Frusciante song "Unreachable" on the weekend my god, it is amazing. Reminds me of Pink Floyd mixed with Jimi Hendrix but done in that complete John Frusciante style, so amazing. I havent heard the new track yet, I'm gonna wait for the album... I'm just glad that there's other people that dig his stuff... Sphere In the Heart of Silence was one of my favourites from the 6 album series, definitely check it out. John Frusciante is by far one of my biggest influences and all time favourite guitarists, songwriters and singers. I love it all, from the way he creates music to the way he speaks about it (4th dimension, spirits etc). "Sphere in the Heart Of Silence" is such an amazing album. I'm a big fan of the work he did with "Ataxia." Some great music. I don't know if you've been to his offical website lately, but I find what he wrote, about his new album really sums up why I love the man so much, here it is: Journal Entry Number 3 The Empyrean is a story that has no action in the physical world. It all takes place in one persons mind throughout his life. The only other character is someone who does not live in the physical world but is inside it, in the sense that he exists in peoples minds. The mind is the only place that anything can be truly said to exist. The outside world is only known to us as it appears within us by the testament of our senses. The imagination is the most real world that we know because we each know it first hand. Seeing our ideas take form is like being able to see the sun come into being. We have no equivelent to the purity of that in our account of the outside world. The outer world appears to each of us as one thing and it is always also a multitude of others. Inside to outside and outside to inside are neverending. Trying and giving up are a form of breathing. - John

Blur have reformed: Blur will play a live show in Hyde Park in Summer 2009. Graham Coxon will join Alex James, Dave Rowntree and Damon Albarn onstage for this first time since their Royal Festival Hall performance in 2000. The concert will take place at London's Hyde Park on Friday 3rd July 2009, and tickets will be on general sale from 9am Friday 12th December 2008 at www.livenation.co.uk. All tickets are £45.00, are limited to six per person, and subject to a booking fee. This is pretty crazy exciting, 13 is one of my favourite albums ever. Hope they make their way down here eventually... v fest 2010? fingers crossed.

Yeah read this earlier today, it's pretty awesome! I guess i wasn't as suprised/excited as i thought i would be...just for the reason that it's been on the cards for so long you almost expected it to happen?
I'm hoping it's a proper reformation and not just a cash in, because with the Think Tank one off, plus all of Albarns post Blur work, i'd be very interested to see what a modern Blur album would sound like

Yeah Im with you Steve, I hope this leads to the creation of new music ... not just a cash in tour. Few friends of ours are flying over to the UK for this show ... Blur is their Smashing Pumpkins to us.

It has been on the cards for a long time, but at the same time, I kinda always felt as though something would stop it from happening. And Damon has said theyre back together because now it feels right, it feels like they arent redundant anymore, so they have stuff to say. So keen to hear what they come up with. Id love to be able to go see this show, but I'll have to wait and hope they eventually make it over here.

haha, I thought it was. Anyway .... music news! www.undercover.com.au/News-Story.aspx?id=7144Pearl Jam To Bring Back Ten x 4 by Paul Cashmere - December 11 2008 photo by Ros O'Gorman `Ten`, the debut album by Pearl Jam, will be reissued in 2009 in four expanded formats, including the cassette. Producer Brendan O’Brien has gone back to the studio to completely remix the album. The new version, as well as the remastered old version, will be included in the package. "The band loved the original mix of Ten, but were also interested in what it would sound like if I were to deconstruct and remix it," says producer Brendan O'Brien. "The original Ten sound is what millions of people bought, dug and loved, so I was initially hesitant to mess around with that. After years of persistent nudging from the band, I was able to wrap my head around the idea of offering it as a companion piece to the original ? giving a fresh take on it, a more direct sound." Also included will be a replica of the now very much a collectors item three-song demo cassette. "I think the first time that Ed or I had opened any of those boxes was a few weeks ago,” the band’s Jeff Ament commented. “I knew that the original 'Momma-Son' cassette was somewhere, but I hadn't listened to it in 17, 18, 19 years. It was cool to sit down and play it for the first time with Ed and see his reaction. And to find that 90% of it stayed exactly the same as what ended up on the record. A lot of elements were identical. There was some energy flying around at that point even from 1,300 miles away from Seattle to San Diego." ‘Ten’ was originally released on August 27, 1991. Believe it or not, the album never got to number one in America. It peaked at number two. However, it went on to sell 12 million units. The album was produced by Rick Parasher. Pearl Jam's 1991 lineup was Jeff Ament (bass), Stone Gossard (guitar), Dave Krusen (drums), Mike McCready (guitar) and Eddie Vedder (vocals). ORIGINAL TEN TRACKLISTING Once Even Flow Alive Why Go Black Jeremy Oceans Porch Garden Deep Release Master/Slave (hidden track) THE FOUR EDITIONS OF TEN: ALBUM EXTRAS PER PACKAGE 1. Legacy Edition (2-disc set in mini-LP style slipcase): * Disc 1: original Ten tracklisting digitally remastered (original mix) * Disc 2: original Ten tracklisting digitally remastered and remixed by Brendan O'Brien, plus six bonus tracks: "Brother," "Just a Girl," "State of Love and Trust," "Breath and a Scream," "2,000 Mile Blues" and "Evil Little Goat" * Re-designed packaging 2. I'd love to hear what "Ten" would sound like re-mixed by Brendan O'Brien. I also hear that leading up to there 20th anniversary (2011) the band plans to do more of this with there earlier albums . So awesome. I can't believe pearl jam are nearly 20 years old.

I'm going to go listen to the Gorge shows now, i'm in the mood! I only hope we see more b-sides collections, because I reckon they got a few more gems hiding away that have yet to see the light of day. I dare say, that 2011 will be the next time we get an album. I haven't heard any whisperings of any new material of late. I know Stone is working on Solo stuff and Jeff just released his solo album. Although it isn't a classic in there collection, I'd always love to see Binaural re-released with it's original tracklist in tact, but I'm a dreamer and I love that album a little too much.

Amanda Palmer - Awesome. And she will be in adelaide during the Fringe Festival. Dont know if any of you know but she came to adelaide before she was in the dolls as a street performer during one of the fringe festivals. When she came here with the dolls the other year they took a photo of her in the mall in the corpse bride outfit she used to wear. I wonder if she will turn up at any other shows while in adelaide.
