many of Corgans songs can be linked to love. But did he ever write a TRUE love song? Personally i think that only Stand Inside Your Love can classed as a true Love song, as such.

hmm now thats an interesting one.. i think there are a few songs which could be classed as 'love' songs.. but we all have different ideas on what IS a love song i guess, and unless we were in billys head at the time of him writing it.. we will never know...... but i do agree about siyl being a 'love' song.. most definately. i won't go on and mention what else i class as love songs yet *or maybe ever* because its so hard to know what he was thinking/feeling when he wrote them.. we could take it as a love song as such, but it could have a completely different meaning to him. yeh... enuf said ;D

well i mean also that alot of people think that Ava Adore is about love, but i don't see it as a good type of love - its more like a dirty type of love.
but i guess that goes with what you have said - we all view love in all its forms differently ...

I think there are a few lines from different songs, if they were all made into one song.... then we would have a true love song

sometimes its a bit hard, alot of his songs are so emoutionally intense that they feel like love songs.
i think "by starlight", "Luna", "Lily" feel like love songs either that or they remind me what it feels like to be in love

i agree that SIYL is the only 'true' love song billy wrote. Though i think there are alot of others that you can relate back to that feeling of being in a relationship or having feelings for someone. So that kinda gives me the impression that alot of his songs; ie. In The Arms Of Sleep, Perfect & Galapogos..... were all about love.

AVA ADORE!
give me dirrty dirrty love!.. it's a song about an addiction to loving someone... loving someone and you just can't get enough of them...
there's no such thing as a true love song.

i heard a theory that ava adore was about hitler and the nazis...
ava (ava brown, hitlers misteriss) Drinking Mercury (a form of torture used on the jews) Pull you crooked teeth (Nazis took gold teeth from the jews mouthes) In you i taste god (the nazis thought they were doing gods job)
plus their are a few more obvious ones like a gun to my head etc....
plus i think everyone is missing a very obvious one...
Let me Give the World to You!
so i find it really hard to see ava adore as a love song now, even though i dont nescissarily believe the ava adore is about the nazis its given me that perspective that i cant lose...

the lyrics to siyl are so deep! i keep a copy of the lyrics on my wall its only when you really read the lyrics that you get this funny feeling about it
the best way to understand siyl from billies view is to download the intro to siyl from vh1 storytellers. anyone happen to have all those songs on cd while im at it?

SIYL and 'in the arms of sleep'
But lots of Pumpkins songs are about love! just not 'love songs'

i heard a theory that ava adore was about hitler and the nazis... lol, I'm sorry, but this sounds ridiculous to me. No offence foxy, and unless Billy confirms otherwise, I don't think this theory deserves much credit. And by the way, Hitler's wife was Eva Braun, not Ava. And yes, I share everyone's love of SIYL I love the funky rhyme scheme that's close to the end of the song: "And for the first time, I'm telling you how much I need and bleed for your every move and waking sound..." I could go on, but dinner's on the table!

I don't think there can be such a thing as a real love song unless the person who wrote it says it is. Songs are open for interpretation and considering a song to be about love can have alot to do with what you conceive love to be. Btw, I love SIYL. *sigh* The vid clip is funky

'Beautiful'...I think thats pretty obvious..
As for 'Lily'', to me it sounds as if Billy wrote it through the eyes of a stalker, an obsessive type of love. With lines like "but an officer is knocking at my door" and "Through her window shade I watch her shadow move" I don't think it was really meant as a love song, although at times it sounds like it should be one...

'By Starlight' has to be one of my favourites...
The song of love... finding love and understanding that there is a significant other for every one of us out there... and the journey two people take towards recognising and figuring out what the other is all about.
'In The Arms of Sleep'... for those nights when you are away from the one you love... the pain caused by the geographical distance between you...

I'll second in the arms of sleep, I have to agree with everything Bree said about it...
I always put medellia of grey skys as a love song although there are some lines that kinda undo the love song, but lines like your a secret noticed, your all i notice in a crowded room etc...
Crush is another one for me.

Jupiters Lament?
why have you left me amoungst the tall trees? ... I knew I gave her all I had
its a wonderful song, but a sad love song. its more about loosing love, a love you tried so hard to hold onto but it wasn't mutial. I love the song, it does remind me of worst times in my life ... but now it makes me feel positive becuase i got through them.
