Don't know if you guys remember reading about this, but there is a recording of it now since it has aired. Durch die Nacht mit / Into the Night with Billy Corgan and Uli Jon Roth A Film by Hasko Baumann Length: 52 minutes A Production by Avanti Media for ZDF / ARTE ARTE, May 1, 2008, 11:50 PM Billy Corgan (40), front man of the "Smashing Pumpkins" and one of the biggest distinctive icons of Rock Music, met in Hamburg with Uli Jon Roth (53), who in the 1970s drove the Scorpions to heights and today is considered one of the world's greatest guitarists. Egotistic, Neurotic, Tyrant: Billy Corgan has already been called a lot. Also, as unjustified. It is sure, that he with the Smashing Pumpkins leads as one of the most formative bands of Alternative Rock – and that he steps only in the rarest cases before the TV camera. For his hero Jon Roth Uli he'll make an exception. Roth left his one-time band the "Scorpions," shortly before they became a commercial success, to devote himself more to experimental sounds; however, Corgan has just reformed his band again successfully. It was in Hamburg that Roth had first seen Jimi Hendrix live – for him the initiation to become a rock guitarist. Together, the two musicians enter the place of events, the Laeizhalle, and breath in the spirit of the guitar god. Corgan and Roth did not allow themselves a big Jam session – and this had so much power, that star violinist Daniel Hope did not allow himself a visit. In the only wrestling school of Germany blossoms Corgan, who is an explained fan of the primitive sport, perceptibly and surprises his companion with undiminished enthusiasm. Besides a visit to the Art Museum and a big dinner in the Au Quai on the harbor of Hamburg it is particularly the visit from guitar builder Chris Adam, who Corgan and Roth inspired. Adams, developer of the "Robot Guitar," offered them both his couch for another very relaxing Jam. Through the entire evening Corgan insists over and over that Roth should play the old Scorpion song "Robot Man" in addition at the Hamburg Smashing Pumpkins concert. And thus it comes to a dynamic finale in the Color Line Arena to the summit of Corgan, Roth, and Rudolf Schenker. Music, Success, Failure, Depressions and the question, where should it go – Themes of this very intimate evening with two exceptional artists, who let out no crisp riff or playful run. "Into the Night" in Rock: A must for music fans. Anyway there is a recording of this now, pumpkid posted this here: www.smashingpumpkins.com/membernews_3747-------------------------------------------------------------------- I found out that you can download the COMPLETE show at rapidshare now (5 parts, avi, digitally recorded, show starts at about 6min 40sec): rapidshare.com/files/112047254/corgan_roth.part1.rarrapidshare.com/files/112055864/corgan_roth.part2.rarrapidshare.com/files/112060406/corgan_roth.part3.rarrapidshare.com/files/112066757/corgan_roth.part4.rarrapidshare.com/files/112062319/corgan_roth.part5.rar-------------------------------------------------------------------- Im downloading the final 2 files now, should be interesting to watch no doubt.

Thanks for the links sunky. Wow, they were some incredible things Billy said about James and D'Arcy. I've never heard him say anything like that before. Can only be talking about Gish and SD, right? Fair enough though I guess, but makes you wonder if they were so 'bad', how they pulled it off live. Granted mistakes are hidden more easily live. In any case, he makes a good point about D'Arcy and James wanting to have it 'both ways' and ultimately just wanting the money.

The videos are now up on YouTube: www.ozphoria.com/?p=244Such an amazing interview with both of them, sucks a bit at the start when Uli speaks in German (Scott - translation?) ... but yeah so good to hear them talk about some of this stuff. What Billy has to say about James and D'Arcy and the recording of Gish is pretty full on too. You MUST watch this!

i finally got this off those rapidshare links...
wow, that was really really cool... damn i love germany/germans... uli is so chilled out its crazy, he seems like the most at peace dude ever, very perceptive too.. lovin lobsters and turtles n shit lol, corgan had some good things to say, the vig/darcy/james stuff layed out clearly, but i wish he layed off some of the perils of fame and his personality stuff, felt a little awkward a couple of times..

you need all five .rar files, then you must unrar them with winrar or something similar.
