hmm. i wonder why that would be, if the band have already stated there are going to be allowing fans to record stuff. Unless the band want to release a sound board recording? ... heheh im always the optimist. 3 more sleeps I guess.

Surely some kind of copy will circulate - I mean we even had one from the "final" show. Granted the quality was not good at all, but it still happened.

That's a good point there. Since they are only advertising those specific shows like the Fillmore, they should just allow it for everyone. Then again, the first show, being the crucial show, is probably going to be very strict

why wouldn't they want the first show to spread on the net like wildfire, though? zwan got tons of free publicity through the glass house boot...

Yeh, well, personally, I don't understand why they don't just allow all the shows to be audio and video recorded. What with the whole "stickin' it to the man" on the record they seem to have ignored, ie. Machina II.
Things like this need support from artists now, especially with DRM getting nastier.

I think this show will surface... people will find a way. it's most likely the venue management and security and not the band themselves.

Surley pumpkins saying it can be taped would over-ride the shitty house rules...
C'mon play Galapogos!

Is anyone going to be staying up/waking up early to jump online to read the reports from the show as they come in?
I would, but it's a work night and somewhere along the way I became a responsible adult type (don't tell anyone!)
I'm tempted to set my alarm anyway, jump online with my hiptop but I doubt I could get back to sleep after such exciting news...

i'll be just checking when i get up for work which is 6am, maybe get up a bit earlier, i'm going straight to ZOMBtorrents to see if there is a show up, and then probably netphoria to see what news is on there, that will be the extent of my investigating

I woke up at 4 this morning thinking it was Wednesday, so dissapointed! I'd sleep the day away if I didn't have things to do!
I don't think we should fret about the first show being taped.

I'm tempted to set my alarm anyway, jump online with my hiptop but I doubt I could get back to sleep after such exciting news... i normally get up at 5 to get ready for work on wednesdays so i think ill get up 15 mins early and have a quick check of the net for any news. With technology these days people can be posting the setlist as it happens with their mobile phone. - i can record pretty high quality shows on my n80, so im sure someone in france will manage something like that. you could probably upload the show using your phone too (if you were rich)

Or if you had a hiptop (sorry, cheap shot... I seriously love my phone... I'm using it right now to post this from a tram!)
Joshy if you're going to be up anyway, can you shoot me an email if there's anything news worthy? missvic@ hiptop.com.au

Allegedly, NME are running an 'as-it-happens' update page over at their website which will be updated with news... as it happens. The link to the page at NME.com can be found by clicking *HERE*So far it reads: Smashing Pumpkins play comeback show tonightNME.COM will bring you all the ac tion from Paris 2 hours ago
Smashing Pumpkins make their hugely-anticipated live return tonight (May 22) and NME.COM will be right there.
Billy Corgan's returning grunge titans will play Paris Grand Rex, the band's first performance since their farewell show at Chicago Metro in December 2000.
As well as debuting tracks from their comeback album 'Zeitgeist', the show will see the unveiling of the band's two new members.
Only Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain remain from the original line-up, with guitarist James Iha and bass player D'arcy Wretzky replaced by unknowns, due to be revealed tonight.
Click back to NME.COM later tonight for a full on-the-spot report on the return of Smashing Pumpkins.
That should be interesting... !
