Sounds like it was pretty damn good, judging by the setlist.
I would have loved to have heard Hummer, Zero and Cherub Rock! They are probably the songs that I would have liked to have heard, that weren't played at Festival Hall, that have been on their setlists recently.
Last time I checked the tickets for the V Festival were $150 or so - I didn't really want to pay that much to see what I thought would be a shortened setlist, considering I didn't really want to see any of the other bands at the festival. Mind you, I would have loved to have seen those songs, though!
I sort of felt today, as though I wouldn't have minded seeing them again - not sure I could really justify spending that much money though (with other commitments, etc.).
Hopefully they do another tour again soon. The rumours of a tour in September sound interesting, but even if it is in another year or two it would still be good (as opposed to 10 years!).
I take it, that it was a good show?

I thoroughly enjoyed this set. At festy i was stuck against the back wall and the constant pushing and shoving and traffic really ruined the night for me. I almost didn't go tonight because i thought being the last act at a festival, there'd be drunken idiots everywhere etc and it may even be worse.
I thought the vibe was great, the crowd were pretty well into it and... WE GOT HUMMER! I was hoping for that and Home (though i realised that one was unlikely) from the 2 shows i attended and to get that and Cherub, very happy
Now i'm off to have some hot sex

Im packing for our flight home tomorrow, but I have to say this was hands down the greatest show ... the crowd loved it, the band loved it, Jesse played on the Pink Floyd cover again and totally rocked out (guy got some awesome video of it!)
The encore went like this, Billy came out and started to play Zero and the crowd "lost their shit" but then he stopped and said "Nah i don't want to play that" ... the crowd screamed and then the band kicked into it. Zero was a dream come true to hear and scream out too. The after that Billy was thanking the crowd he said into the mic "How about one more song?" .... at this stage the band had left the stage and it was just Billy. Anyway then Jimmy came back out and they played Cherub Rock.
This was the happiest I had seen the band, seen the crowds during and after the shows .... and of course ... the happiest I had seen the Ozphoria crew. What an awesome way to end it all. The Ozphoria crew are off drinking at the moment now ...we are packing for our flight to Perth.
More to come ... but in short - AMAZING SHOW!

I was wondering if it was just me who thought it was great. Glad to hear from someone who's been to all the shows that it was a standout

i had to explain to my mates, the significance of zero being played tonight + cherub rock.. they just thought i was a big sooky lala with my tears. i don't really want to go to perth now. i'd be happy to end it there.
loved it. rocked it. somehow still have a voice. once again, thanks to the crew for buying billy's lunch and the v-fest melb crowd for pulling their shit together like no one else has. definately the best yet.

I take it, that it was a good show? I reckon they were pretty sharp tonight tonight. Billy was screaming his lungs out a few times & he sounded unreal. I decided to rock up because I thought i'd get to hear a few different songs to what were played at the side shows & it happened with Zero, Cherub Rock & my fave song of all-time - Hummer - bursting off the stage. I need to get footage of Hummer so badly, i'd do anything for it! (I hope you understand why I had to brush you off, Josh, whilst this little number was playing. Let us know how your meeting with Billy went eh. You know you want to ) Mosh was going right off heaps of times & hence, I couldn't take too many photos, but I did get a few of Jesse tonight which brought a smile to my face. He went wild with the tambourine tonight. I love how Billys' able to involve his brother in the show & it's really heart-warming to see Jesse up there, despite his health problems, being given a chance by his brother to rock out on such a huge stage.

$140-gish(sic). All worth it too. & to think, my first preference was going to see the footy tonight. Lucky my mate had to pull out of that one. Rock on, Jesse. Rock on.

Yeah, I feel a bit crap that they played a couple of different songs that I would have liked to have heard, considering it was a show that I 'could' have gone to, being in the same town and all. But not sure I could justify spending that amount.
Here's to hoping it's not too long a wait until they tour again - and if/when they do, they rotate a few more songs through that we (I) didn't here this time round (or in '98).

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR its so frustrating hearing ppl talk about how awesome the Vfest show was!! , i was almost gonna go!!! but i didnt want to be there for 7hrs waiting for the pumpkins just so i could get close enough!! im assuming it was a setup similar to BDO, if your not there from the start.. your 40 kms away !lol.. There were tickets on ebay going for like 60bux yesterday!! damn damn damn! anyway, im sure they will tour again within 18mths! , im going to Rock am Ring next year! hopefully they go there and ppl bagging festy hall, that place will never be knocked down... its an icon really! i would rather see them there , then somewhere like Rod Laver Arena.. remember.. the Beatles played at Festy hall!!

Festival Hall sounded better than I was expecting it to, so I can't complain.
whoa...I just noticed in my above post "I reckon they were pretty sharp tonight tonight"..I didn't even mean to put two "tonight"s in that sentence. That's probably my best & most relevant repetition i've typed.

I couldn't help but laugh when Billy said "Alright, one more song... 'I come from a land down under'."

When we were at the airport waiting to leave melbs we were talking about the gig (who would have guessed) and steve did one final pun...he really wanted me to share it, the last bad joke of the tour.
Billy played Zero because its what he paid for his lunch!

I went into this gig with 2 V Fests under my belt and wasn't sure what to expect. But once again Billy and Co kicked my ass. Every night has been better than the last. They played well, the sounded fantastic, the crowd responded well, Jesse rocked... Oh and they threw in Zero. Could anyone possibly ask for more?

last night @ festival hall was a let down... the venue sucks... the sound was awful & no encore.. No encore because the crowd was very unappreciative and unenthusiastic for a large part of the show. Besides, the encore would have been either The Rose March or If All Goes Wrong and from what I heard around me a lot of people who were at the show talked through the new stuff anyway. Why the hell would Billy come out for an encore to have 20 people in the entire venue singing along and giving him their full attention? The sound was alright - it did depend largely where you were situated during the show. Left side was wishy-washy and the right was pretty good. Anyway, this is off topic. If you want to talk more about the Festival Hall show, please post in that thread.

wow! sounds like it was a great show. such a great mix of songs. hummer would have been awesome... and starting off with today would have gotten the crowd fired up early. i hope that everyone shuts up about them not playing zero now.

Well I mentioned to Kristin in an email earlier today that Billy played zero because the crew bought him lunch and she resoponded with this
"Billy said it would have to be a more expensive lunch for him to play it well."

You could have rocked up just before they went on and still got near the front. There was no D area like at BDO, and it was really easy to snake your way through the crowd. It meant more people pushed in front of you, but I still found it a lot better then being sandwiched at BDO. The whole day was really good and laid back actually, as it was only like a 5th of the size of BDO, and there was no real pressure to be at a certain stage hours before to get up close. Anyway, as has been said, last night was perfect! Billy was in such a good mood, and the crowd were loving every minute of it! And to end with Zero and Cherub Rock!

Fuck that was a great gig! It was an instant all in feel-good mosh when they played Zero. IMO this SP live band lineup is the best sounding ever. Billy is singing better than ever too. Now, I'm old too so according to Billy I can tell people that they're doing shit wrong, so here we go: The Vfest overall was great except for the fucking pathetic PA volume! WTF is going on with ppl ? ....you shouldn't be able to hear the person next to you at a rock concert!! My mate who I went with saw Paul McCartney in the 70's and couldn't hear for 1/2 hr afterwards and had his ears ringing for 3 days...macca isn't even rock! That's how it should be, perhaps with ear plugs available for the soft cocks!

www.flickr.com/gp/31529832@N00/6414Np^^ some pictures of the Pumpkins at VFest last night, I also have some videos (Tonight, Tonight, 1979, Stand Inside Your Love and Today) that are currently uploading to Youtube. They may take a while as the files are 500mb+ :S. I had an amazing time at both concerts and would do it again next time around. It was great to see the Pumpkins and I had an amazing Weekend (Week, Month, Year, Life?) because of it ;D
