SP.com:
As previously reported, The Smashing Pumpkins will be heading out on the road in the United States for a few weeks this August.
The last tour of the U.S. by the band consisted of mostly larger venues. This tour will prominently be booked in smaller venues across the country. Cities that they have not played since reforming will be on the route. Smaller venues means less tickets, and tickets will most likely go very quickly. Keep your eyes peeled!
Dates and cities are still forthcoming but will be revealed ANY MINUTE.
***Correction: These shows should not be considered part of the 20th anniversary shows that will be occurring later this year.
----------------------------------------------------------------
So with the upcoming August tour, what do you guys reckon will go down?
The smaller venues does make it sound like the early MCIS tour dates, like the Double Door etc ... I think we have some exciting times ahead thats for sure.
New outfits? ... Billy could come out in silver pants with a black shirt that says "ONE" on it? ... also since this small tour is kind of being seen as a warm up tour for the Anniversary shows ... you think we'll see some old songs we haven't heard for a while?
Geek USA anybody?

I'll throw in Muzzle
I also think we will see a much more happy and jovial frontman, he seems to know where he wants to go with it all now...

I'm just impressed that they're going out on the road again so soon. He really doesn't like resting does he?

They might throw in the odd Gish number prior to the 20th Anniversary Shows just to get in some performance time. Would love to hear Snail or Tristessa get played.

Are you hitting any other towns after that? I get the feeling there will be at least a 3-4 week tour around the states, so you may be able to hit those. Reckon more dates will drop this week now that this has been announced. Man this is so exciting they are touring again, new songs, new structure ... new outfits!

I agree with the ridiculously good looking one, I can't wait for these shows. Billy seems to be completely settled, on his own terms and exactly where he wants to be and where he wants SP to be now. The last tour was great, but now we are really getting down to it. The comeback is over.
Oh yeah, i forgot to chime in on the outfit excitement! haha - are we taking guesses? Zeit was red and black artwork with black and white outfits etc. Are we going for a colour palette in particular this time around? Simon's already suggested the silver may be back - and as for the style, kimono's done, dresses done, victoriana done, steampunk done, what could it be? Overall's? You know what i just thought, how strange would it be going to a massive SP gig like a festival or something and seeing BC come onstage simply in regular clothes! It would be strange wouldnt it.

Kez, I think it's going to be pastel silk togas. Each in a colour of a Zeitgeist release.
But seriously, it shits me that people in the US whinge about the band not playing in their town or area and you think about how far we all travelled around the country! I actually told an old O-board friend (who lives in Chicago) about the money we spent on tickets, flights, accommodation, transfers etc etc etc. just to see the band when they came to Australia and she promptly stopped whining about it and said she feels better about paying $125 AU for a show. I'm like - yes! it's expensive but worth it and about the same price as it was for us over here!

theres 4 more dates up the other date on ticketek so far is $38 us not $83
I think the reason that show was so pricy is that its at a casino of some kind.

What other band would ever inspire thier fans to speculate about what outfits the band will wear? Lol Gotta love those Pumpkins.

Tour poster, wow ... I love it. Hope this is the direction they continue in, it has something that was missing from Zeitgeist ... "beauty". Also update from SP.com: “Billy, Jimmy, Ginger, Jeff, and Lisa have all gathered in Davenport, IA to prep for the upcoming show at the Adler theatre on August 8 and subsequent tour. The first new poster, adorning the facade of the Adler, has been revealed and gives us a glimpse of the new visual look of the band. The band has confirmed that they are practicing 9 songs that their current incarnation haven’t played before. So far rehearsals have been intense and long. Stage crew are also on hand indicating that these are more than just jam sessions. The show is being put together as we speak. The Smashing Pumpkins Media Militia will be on hand all week leading up to the show on 8.8.08. Expect frequent updates, rehearsal photos, maybe some audio, and some other surprises. It would not be a bad idea to bookmark the Official Smashing Pumpkins Flickr page during this week, as some photos may be uploaded there on the fly.” This is the SP flickr page: www.flickr.com/photos/thesmashingpumpkins/Few shots from rehearsals on there. ALSO ... 9 songs!!!! .... keep the guessing coming.

I only just now realised it'll be 8.8.08. Kicking off a new phase of pumpkindom.
Some obvious suggestions: Soma, Ruby, Here Is No Why, Bodies, XYU, Snail, Rhinosoros, I of the Morning, and on Jeffs aweosme suggestion though it probably wont seeing as he mentioned it, Pennies.
