Bloc Party and MGMT doing just one festival show? Makes you think about the old "Too costly to tour" and even GFC issues doesn't it
I'm interested in going....It's all about The Flaming Lips for me. Must see them again. Janes would be really cool too just to hear those old classics.

Oh wicked, so happy Jane's are doing sideshows! ... caught them few years back on the BDO tour and that was insane. Metro City will be great. Would love to see Flaming Lips, but damn them just doing east coast. Also is the 4th? or 5th time Bloc Party have played Splendour?

Lol really? i had no idea they'd played that much. But Janes will be insane, I saw them at that bdo too, and it was good but i didnt really have any concept of them beyond the usual songs that eveyone knows. All I really remember was Perry getting bottled and cutting sick at whoever did it. So it will be good to see them now i know their stuff, plus eric avery is back in the band so thatll make it infinitely better.

Same Jimmy, over the years I've developed a stronger love for the Janes albums, past the singles I knew back then. Although I don't have the album they released few years back, with Say Yes was it? (the one they toured on that BDO)
I could be wrong about Bloc Party, but it just feels like they've played it a number of times.

Strays, and yeah I dont have it either, I think the general consensus is its not very good, but i dare say they wont be playing that much of it anyway as eric wasnt involved and they arent backing anything in particular atm. Word is they're making a new album with Trent producing though. It's weird listening to them now and realising just how big an impact they had on a lot of my favourite bands. I cant listen to Gish anymore without hearing a lot of Janes influence, same goes for early Tool

So rumours? ... who else you think could be announced.
Here is my DREAM ... Manic Street Preachers play in Japan on 20th of July, only a few days before Splendour. They have a new album out ... could ... could ... it be perfect timing for them to fly down to Australia? I fucking hope so ... because I'll be over east at that point anyway for Flaming Lips.

When is the 2nd announcement for this? I've seen Manics rumoured on other sites ... better not toy with me. Seriously? They have been a rumour. Firstly, who else actually knows them to start the rumour. Secondly, they would have to do a full tour or at least sides as well, right? Oh lordy. EDIT> Looking at the archive dates on msp.com, they played in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok in November last year and never made it to Australia - that is pretty close, to come all that way - especially with Nicky's fear of flying - and not go the extra distance is poor form. And to be honest, I really don't know if they will be on a festival bill here. One time I was watching an interview with Lees/West (BDO organiser's) and when they had to comment on the mistakes they had made, the first one they said was MSP on the main stage. And that was when they actually had some songs on the radion/music TV (This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours era stuff).

Wow I never knew that about Lees and West, but yeah I remember seeing MSP on the main stage and nobody was there ... it sucked ... but was great because I got a good spot. Why aren't they loved here ... they have a song called Australia!

The splendor line up looks great as it is though, I also am not really into the camping festival thing though so would much prefer sideys.

Well they got played on JJJ ... because somebody called Simon left this message on Richard's guestbook: www2b.abc.net.au/guestbookcentral/list.asp?guestbookID=59SIMON 7/05/2009 11:36 AM Hey Richard, Hope to hear some of the new Manic Street Preachers songs on Triple J soon when the album is released next week. Shall be a solid release, they've used old lyrics from Richey and apparently its being compared to The Holy Bible. Really excited. All the best! Moderator Comment I'll play some of it this Sunday...---------------------------------------------------------------------------- That guy Simon is pretty awesome!

Happy Mondays! ... wow, but besides that pretty average second announcement I guess. Oh well, no MSP ... ... at least I held on to the dream of seeing them live. One day I'll see them again.

Yeah The Happy Mondays coming here for it...wow.
Hopefully You Am I playing = Another tour soon!
Glad i didn't get a ticket. Was keen initially, but the price for that lineup is insane when you compare it to Falls ans the like.

2010 lineup comes out tomorrow.
Confirmed - Jonsi from Sigor Ros, Richard Ashcroft (and his new band i understand) Obvious - The Strokes, Mumford and Sons Rumoured - Hot Chip, Foals, Delphic, Goldfrapp Surely not - 30 seconds to mars, The Pixies (apparently back in this region playing NZ in early August)

my goodness they are very underwhelming rumours... One bloke from Sigur Ros... Richard Ashcroft - surely playing verve covers because his solo stuff is rubbish... Mumford are great live... Each word is sung with so much passion... Yes their songs sound pretty similar, but captivating live... Not a strokes fan... Hot Chip - I like a few songs... hate others... Delphic?

This year Splendour In The Grass is moving to the Woodford site in Queensland. It's a bigger space, which means more punters - and more live acts than ever. The entire line-up has just been released and it's massive!
A bunch of acts have been on the rumour lists for weeks - like THE STROKES, MUMFORD AND SONS, THE TEMPER TRAP and BAND OF HORSES - but there are plenty of surprises too.
Seminal indie rock band PIXIES will make their second trip to Australia for the year to play the festival and it’ll be their only Australian show for this visit. We’ll also see the return of PASSION PIT, FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE, LAURA MARLING and GRIZZLY BEAR who all sold out shows when they were here in January/February.
BAND OF SKULLS, SURFER BLOOD, ALBERTA CROSS, THE DRUMS and TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB will head over for their first ever Aus tour.
LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE, MIDLAKE, FOALS, FRIGHTENED RABBIT, GOLDFRAPP, JONSI (Sigur Ros) and BLACK REBEL MOTORCYLE CLUB will be here to showcase their brand new albums.
And we'll see the return of classic party acts SCISSOR SISTERS, THE TING TINGS and HOT CHIP.
Oh, and did we mention YEASAYER, ASH, BEN HARPER AND THE RELENTLESS 7, WE ARE SCIENTISTS, RICHARD ASHCROFT AND THE UNITED NATIONS OF SOUND, K-OS, DELPHIC, SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS and THE MAGIC NUMBERS?
Then there's a massive cast of local acts including ANGUS AND JULIA STONE, EMPIRE OF THE SUN, WOLFMOTHER, THE VINES, TAME IMPALA, PAUL KELLY, OPERATOR PLEASE, LISA MITCHELL, MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS, LITTLE RED, SPACE INVADAS, BRITISH INDIA, OH MERCY, THE MIDDLE EAST, BLUEJUICE, WASHINGTON, WHITLEY, DAN SULTAN, CLOUD CONTROL, MIAMI HORROR, CLARE BOWDITCH, PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY, JOHN STEEL SINGERS, VIOLENT SOHO, THE MESS HALL, JONATHAN BOULET, BOY AND BEAR, GYPSY AND THE CAT, LAST DINOSAURS, ERNEST ELLIS, TIM AND JEAN, YACHT CLUB DJS plus more.
And there are a handful more acts that'll be announced soon.
This is the first year that Splendour will run over three days, from Friday 30th July to Sunday 1st August.
Tickets will go on sale at 9am EST on Thursday May 6.
For all the info on the festival head to splendourinthegrass.com
Pretty great lineup, Id like to go, my aunt lives pretty close to woodford, but if not will definitely catch a Broken Social Scene show
