The Bridge School Benefit is an annual non-profit charity concert held in Mountain View, California every October at the Shoreline Amphitheatre this link opens in a new window. The concerts are all organized by musician Neil Young and his wife, Pegi. Proceeds benefit The Bridge School. The first concert was in October 1986, and, with the exception of 1987, the concert has been held every year since. As a practice, but not a rule, the performers use acoustic instruments. Young also personally performs every year. The 22nd Annual Bridge School Benefit Concert will be held on October 25th (5pm) and October 26th (2pm), 2008. Announcing the 2008 lineup (not necessarily in order of appearance): * Neil Young * Wilco * Jack Johnson * Death Cab for Cutie * Norah Jones * Cat Power * Sarah McLachlan (Saturday only) * Band of Horses (Saturday only) * Josh Groban (Sunday only) * Smashing Pumpkins (Sunday only)

I am SO totally digging the horns and strings. It's such an odd step into the same territory as Sigur Ros and Arcade Fire that I totally wasn't expecting, but which is very welcome. I wonder what they'll be doing with the heavier material?
Imagine Soma, with horns and strings. *soils pants*

I loved the sound of Owata, really nice song. Disarm would've been great if Josh Groban didn't try to fry the soundboard, or sing at all for that matter. But really looking forward the mini orchestra in the upcoming shows. I've been wishing for years that Smashing Pumpkins would do something like Metallica's S&M. Actually, I really wish most bands could perform like that, it is ultimate musical experience IMO.
