Holy crapohla! ...
More new songs? WTF? ... Everything is Beautiful, The March Hare ... electric version of A Song for a Son!
Good to see a few more "hits" in there, this is going to annoy and confuse many people I think ... people are seeing this as a greatest hits tour I think. Its far from it.

Are you trying to say that BC is NOT doing what people expect of him *chortle chortle* that would never happen sir. How awesome, I cant wait to start hearing these shows, I just dont think I can afford the whole set of official downloads

Ok, so having looked through hatephoria it seems that the entire board has gone 180 on the pumpkins AGAIN. When we all got our glimpse of As Rome Burns it was pretty much universally well received over at Netphoria with "Billy's back" "I haven't seen this much energy since Siamese Dream" and all sorts of inflated hopeful responses yeah? Anyhow, with the two 20th concerts so far it seems that this has really shit people off. The setlists are just so far outside of what people were expecting. Although, when the second shows setlist was good they complained about the encore, or billy's stage banter etc etc which is the usual gripe most people have with netphoria which is how flippant they are, anyhow. So far, the main discussion there is "Are these really 20 year celebration shows?" so what do you guys think?

An anniversary tour doesn't mean "a greatest hits, look back" ... its celebrating the 20 years you've been through to where you are now. So I never expected the shows to be filled with 25 "hits" each night, I was expecting sets with current SP sound, flavour etc ... but I do feel it doesn't look back enough to the years gone by at the same time. No songs from Adore? 1 or 2 songs from their biggest albums. It does seem a bit of a slap in the face to the fans right?
I was expecting the shows to be like the Asheville shows, there you have a mix of the new songs of the time (ie Zeitgeist) with old gems like Starla, TAFH, Translucent etc ... they've really pushed it I think, and I think this could be the thing that turns many fans off them for good.
Could it be their way of putting those 20 years to rest?
Maybe we should continue this discussion in the setlist hopes for the tour, leave each of these threads for information about each show? ... what does everybody prefer?

Im still reserving my judgement until i see the full sets for the black/white shows, hopefully there are a few more developments in the setlist not just the same as last tour with new songs thrown in

Do you know what, I'm still trying to reserve my judgement on the new heavy songs, but from what i saw I felt they were just trying to be heavy and energetic for the sake of being heavy and energetic. I think the newer more acoustic stuff (american gothic, new songs from the residencies and the new acoustic material) seem to me like the direction that billy wants to take but feels pressured to keep some of their heavier roots? Anyhow, I agree with what sunky said. While I was expecting more of a mix of eras in the setlists (to be honest I don't know where ther greatest hits tour notion has developed) but I was definately expecting some more obscure old songs to come back. Spiteface, stuff from TAFH and the like... But you really can't complain with 5 new songs can you?

I guess so far from the songs performed we've only have 25ish, around about, Billy did say around about 40-45 across the both shows yeah? So we've got 20 songs they could pull out still, I think if they add something like Geek USA, I Am One, For Martha into the mix ... something that hasn't been played yet, will maybe make this more of a 'greatest hits' tour.
From all reports people are saying that while they didn't play the hits, the band rocked on the new songs. So whats more important, looking back to the past or having a strong future? I agree with you Foxy, the softer tunes seem more like they have some 'truth' to them, to the lyrics and music ... where the rock is just that, its metal in its purest form. The band do it well, but its giving the hard heavy songs people want - according to billy.
