ok i know it was only a friendly and i know we fielded a somewhat weakend side but we need to stop making excuses. We lost and we have lost or given away too many games from silly fucking errors. We need to stop making excuses like ohh we still played well blah blah blah its not good enough, soccer is developing here but we need to start getting a little more pissed off when we lose like that. If we lost a cricket match from a few dropped sitters than peopls asses would be getting sacked. Its great to see the socceroos doing well and yes it was a decent performance but we've gotta get some more passion (not nescessarily from the players, from the media and the supporters).

Good points Foxy. I for one was expecting us to get spanked to be honest, but yeah, Soccer Australia cannot rest on their laurels following Germany - We have to move on a push forward
What were the crowd figures?

i think 68000.. i was a bit surprised about the fact that the argentina match was postponed cos they werent gonna field a full strength team, and then we start the game with 8 players having home debuts here.. seems a bit hipocritical.. but i didnt watch it.. dont have pay tv..

Henry went to Barca, Wenger is also possibly moving. If wenger goes Cesc Fabercas will go. Could this see the decline of arse? gee i hope so...
Barca only paid $16 million pounds for him, thats bloody cheap for my mind.

whats the deal with that? wenger was saying how henrty was his #1 target to resign, and now he has let him go, and so cheap aswell..

Henry definitely went? Well that sucks for Arsenal, never liked 'em much anyway though. Maybe Wenger is letting him go because he's also leaving, just a thought? You know what, Spanish football will suit him anyway, He'll f**king annihilate teams in La Liga, which I really think is not all it's cracked up to be.

klose has gone to bayern! was for around 10million euro, with one year left at werder. So now bayern has the 2 best german strikers.. shame we couldnt swap klose for podolski.. i wonder if we are gonna try and get a new striker, or just make do with the quality we ahve already..

who do you still have? Klasnic is good when he gets going.
in other news we signed Darren Bent, good signing but we got him for Henry money, bloody makes you wonder what arsenal are playing at.

well, we have aron hunt, a young german national team dude, klasnic if he is fit again, should be, rosenburg was really finding form at the end of the year, and hugo almeida.. but yeah, no real big names, but if the little names do the work, who cares ;D

Big names aren't all they're cracked up to be sometimes cough*Morientes*cough, hehehe.
The Reds might be getting Fernando Torres, and I am very excited about that, he's a f**king great player. We're becoming a bit like the Spanish national team though!
Will Spurs be bringing back the Pink Jersey? hehehe!

Whenever i saw morientes play for you guys i thought he looked classy, but wasn't on a similar wavelength to the rest of the team. I like the guy and wish he stayed in the premier league, i didnt see him much towards the end of his time at pool, but do you think given more time he could have done alot better?
Torres is a great player, but so was morientes when he came over to the reds. And from reports i've seen its rumoured to be for around 24 million pounds, thats fucking crazy talk, he would want to perform bloody well for my mind. The bloke is loyal though and that is very admirable, seems like the kind of guy that would stick it out as long as he is given a chance.

Yeah, you know, I agree, Morientes was and is still a great player, I just don't think he was the right fit for the team. I was surprised to see him go so quickly though (he may well have needed a bit of time), as I was surprised to see Cisse go-I really rate that guy, and I think Benitez made the wrong decision in offloading him. We also should have kept Anelka all those years ago when he came over on loan.
Yeah, I know, the reports about 24 million pounds for Torres are ridiculous, however I really like what I've seen of him playing for Spain. I don't get to catch much of la liga. Saying that, I really liked what I saw with Morientes, so who knows!!
To edit that, it was actually 26.5 million punds, Jesus Christ!!! He better be good for us, lol!

well, a very flat performance by the socceroos tonight, it was very hot, you could tell that oman were more used to the climate, its a shame that we had to resort to long ball tactics (why? because i hate watching bolton, who are the kings of long ball, borring football) to salvage a scrappy equalising goal, but it was very important.
Gee the strecher people must be buggered, did anyone keep count of how many people were stretchered off?

bloody hell.. whats going on?! 3:1 against iraq is not good.. so now we need a win on monday to have any chance of going through.. if its possible, if we beat thailand we'll be on 4, so will thailand, and so will iraq! and iraq plays oman.. i dont see how australia can get through.. but they somehow can cos otherwise there would be alot more pissed off people
|
|
|
Post by foxy on Jul 15, 2007 6:32:15 GMT 7
our goal difference is -2, thailands is +1. So we need to beat thailand by two goals and iraq need to beat oman or lose by one goal at the most. If goal difference is even i believe it goes on goals scored, so if we win by two goals against thailand it should be sweet.
but yeah we have not looked the goods at all tournament, backline needs some real attention.

i was at the pub last night watching the game, they threw alot at us and it was good to keep a clean sheet. Good to see dukes scoring goals for his country, though he normally plays very well for us without scoring goals.
Japan game will be very interesting.

well australia are through with a convincing victory against thailand, this is more like it!! 4-0!! woo. If this wasnt the last game the result would ahve been much fairer... thats what i was afraid of when the result blew out that cockiness wiould come back in. Australia was the better side in the first half and the 1:0 was more or less a fair result. But thailand was the better team by far in the second, and if thailand didnt have to push forward to stay alive in the tournament it wouldnt have been quite so easy for australa to score..

soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=446236&cc=3436I just had to put that down, even though it was a trial, looks like the Reds are on track, time to start talking them up, hehehehe. And I noticed the opposition and I just couldn't help myself, teehee! And thank god for that Thailand result, i think its what we needed, Japan will be a difficult match, but I think we have what it takes to beat them. That victory gave us some much needed confidence, but as Scotty mentioned the key is not to get too cocky.

that red card was REALLY harsh and uncalled for by the ref

i was gonna got o a pub and watch this, but decided to continue reading harry potter into the night. I guess this means hopefully the end for arnie-the-decent-assistant-coach-who-never-should-have-become-actual-coach.

yeah alot of disappointment. To me the ref was under the opinion that the Australians were hard bastards and so every time the Japs went down it must have been a foul, but if the Australians went down they were diving.
Theres no doubt that grella knew what he was doing, yes it was soft but to me its still a red. Probably the best call he made all game, along with Harry's first dive, though he could not buy a free kick afterwards.
some of the alltime worst defending led to their goal. I'd welcom Arnold back to wests tigers as goal kicking coach like he was in 2005. I agree with Scott Arnold should go back to assistant, bring in Advocaat an international coach. The problem with Aussies as coaches of that national team is that we have never really experienced sucess (argueably until 2006), Yes arnold had international experience, but we got smashed back in those days, we need to bring in a coach that had sucess internationally as a player or as a coach.

yeah. i heard that a big problem with arnie is that he tries really hard to be chummy with the players, but in return doesnt get the respect as a coach when asking players to do knew things..
we need someone as foxy said, who has had international success.. the Huus would speak and the players would act cos they know he knows his shit.. thats what we need again.

Yeah, I was watching with a friend on Fox, and I heard one guy who was obviously in close proximity to the commentary box yell out "Give him (the ref) a blue jersey". Gold! That red was complete crap, he was cleary going up for balance, and the Japanese player SOOOO milked it, it was ridiculous.
