yeah, it is pineapple express - looks really funny. And Jessy and i have had Control in our hands for the last 3 weeks at the video store but just havent been in the mood yet, but we will probably get it next week. We know it will be really interesting, but not always the friday night flick you feel like watching. BTW - who else is going to see the X FILES movie! I think it opens tomorrow - we are so there I <3 Fox Mulder

A friend of mine went to melbourne to see x files lol. Not really, she was doing other stuff too, but she asserted that was the main point of the trip. Watched Chasing Amy for the umpteenth time today, oh how i love it so. Useless tidbit, bwbw is #19 on the chart in the record store woot.

The Dark Knight, what a fucking triumph of a movie. I saw it on opening night and I've seen it an additional 3 times since. So good, so very good. It's such a beautiful representation of the true batman mythology, giving the movie and new franchise depth, which had been lacking in the batman movies from 89 to 98. The acting was just amazing, everyone was a joy to watch. Heath played the joker in the way I always felt it needed to be played. Fucking flawless stuff.

Watched Chasing Amy for the umpteenth time today, oh how i love it so. i watched that once about 5 years back and thought it was so boring in comparison to Mallrats, Clerks, etc. maybe i need to watch it again, i dunno. Ben Affleck was just way too good at playing an asshole in Mallrats, i can't stand seeing him in anything else.

I just watched WANTED. Fuck me it is the biggest pile of ejaculation.
If youve read the comic - you dont know the plot. The first fifteem minutes follows the comic (quite well actually) and then the rest of the movie is some completely new work of fiction.
THERE IS NO BENDING BULLETS IN THE COMIC
Thats just the tip of the iceberg. Theyre not a group of assassins - theyre super villians.
I am so pissed off right now.

We saw Pineapple Express on Saturday night. It is hilarious! I love Seth Rogen, and James Franco is just fantastically funny. The sad thing is that I think this is the best acting that James Franco has ever done, he always seems so stiff. I think this character is probably close to his actual personality, that is why! haha. I highly recommend it, we wanted to watch it all over again as soon as it was over.

I really recommend "Me and You and Everyone We Know", very quirky. its not a new movie, go down to video ezy for that one.
I saw some really good stuff at MIFF, some highlights were: -The evangelion movie (re-cut of the anime) -Dead-end drive in (80's oz-ploitation movie, awesome) -Surveilance (david lynch's daughter - what you'd expect from a lynch family movie, BUT IT MAKES SENSE)

We got "Me and You and Everyone We Know" from the video store just a few weeks ago. I had just finished reading Miranda July's book "No One Belongs Here More Than You" and really enjoyed it, and we thought her film was great. That little kid with his "back and forth. forever." cracked us up and grossed us out at the same time.

-The evangelion movie (re-cut of the anime) The old movies, or the new, "You Are (Not) Alone" version from the new quadrogy? English dub or subtitled?

new version and subtitled - nice new CG in it... and less shinji whining and more angel fighting!

Hancock
Its everything you think it is. A drunk superhero/bum turns his life/career around with the help of a PR manager. Sweet but nothing overly original.

Hellboy II
It's so funny. I dont read the Hellboy comics, so I cant comment on the comparrison. The thing that gets me though, is that sometimes Abe Sapien is outside of his tank without his breathing apparatus, and sometimes he isnt. Whats the deal?
If you liked the first movie - youll like this one too

Gah! I have an irrational fear of Ron Perlman. He creeps me the fuck out and I can't watch any movie with him in it. Even under all that Hellboy makeup, cos I know he's still there, lurking, waiting to eat me.

were you scared by him in Beauty and the Beast as a small child Vic?
also Definitely Maybe One of the best RomComs ive seen for so so long. Ryan Reynolds is just super awesome (cant wait to see him as Deadpool!) Isla Fisher and the other girls are really cute - and that Breslin girl from Little Miss Sunshine is really sweet as RR's daughter. Great movie!

We hired out 'Be Kind Rewind' last night, it was really good. It wasn't exactly what I expected it to be but I think I enjoyed it more than i was expecting and definitely got a lot more out of it that i thought i would. Michel Gondry is fantastic.
We also have 'Southland Tales' to watch, with Sarah Michelle Gellar in it...it was mentioned it the Kevin Smith book I am reading at the moment as a graphic novel, we put it on earlier while i was assembling a sewing table but we realised it is going to need some focus to follow the plot so we changed to 'Falling Down' and watched Michael Douglas going off his nut, it was entertaining.
And also we started watching last night (wrapping it up this morning) 'Pursuit of Happyness' and I actually really liked it, and liked Will Smith in it.

Yeah - i've heard nothing but bad things about Southland Tales - but from what ive seen in trailers and such - i think id really enjoy it. I'll have to get around to seeing it.
Pursuit of Happyness wasnt bad. I think it was trying to be all sappy and tugging at heartstrings - but i dont think it quite got there.

Also
I tried watching Epic Movie. Theres not much of a story, but there are a sequence of events spoofing movies that sorta segue into each other without it actually having a plot to speak of. Think of it as like watching a sketch show that tries to link the sketches/skits.

Saw Pineapple Express the other night, it was everything I was expecting. It brought the laffs.
Southland Tales is starting on the Foxtel Box Office this month so I might give it a go. At first I was hoping it was about the shopping centre down here in South East Melbourne. But still, it looks like it might be good.

It jumps around a lot, well, not even that, it leaves out lots of info or skims over things and presumes knowledge when you didnt really pick up on things or understand what is going on (kind of like the way i just worded that sentence perhaps?) We both didnt think it was bad, if that is a good thing?

I'm in Carnegie, so about 5 minute away from Chadstone (the fashion capital. And yeah, I much prefer Chadstone (the fashion capital) to Southland.
/off topic.
Kerrie - thanks for the review. I might check it out. We get two free Box Office movies a month so might as well make use of them.
