What have you seen lately? Was it any good? Would you recommend it to your fellow Ozphorians? Or should we steer clear? Let us all know!

The only movie i've checked out this year is Smokin' Aces actually. I guess i don't really have the patience to sit through a movie in a cinema!
Will be checking out The Simpsons movie next week though, although i don't really check out the new ep's, The Simpsons was an obsession for many years i guess - Who isn't going to check out that one!

I went and saw 'Romulus, My Father' with Eric Bana last night, wanst bad, but could've been better. Its adapted from what is essentually the autobiography of a child growing up in the 60's in rural Australia. He's immigrated from romania.. i think romania. Some of it was a little thrown together, bits and pieces that seemed left for assumption that i feel were probably better explained in the book. But other than that it wasnt too bad, the kid did a damn fine job

hahaha, I so wanna see Superbad!
I've seen shitloads lately, guess the last one I saw was "Next"-not bad, although the ending was a bit light on. Still, you get Jessica Biel, which is always a good thing!

I saw Eragon the other night.
Watch it only if you thought Lord of the Rings wasnt 'kiddie' enough, if you thought Star Wars is awesome but should've been set in Medieval England, and if you liked Dragonheart but think it wouldve been better if Sean Connery was a chick.

Oh! I also saw Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift the other day.
It has the EXACT same story as Karate Kid 2, but instead of Karate it has drifing.
LAME!

Stan (to Francine after he sees her watching Fast and Furious 2): "Your watching Fast and the Furious 2?! *gasps* Which means you've already watched the Fast and the Furious 1, how else could you follow the incredibly intricate storyline?!"

Just watched Grindhouse - Death Proof / Planet Terror. Loved them both ... That being said, I love most things Tarantino does, mainly because of the soundtracks.

Went and saw that '1408' movie with some mates last Thursday. Really good movie. My mate's not very big on horror movies and he really enjoyed it. It can be a bit confusing at times, but it's still pretty good. Plus... it's based off a story by Stephen King!
So, yeah... I'd recommend seeing '1408'. The only let down was that Samuel L. Jackson didn't say "I'm sick of all these motherfuckin' ghosts in this motherfuckin' hotel!" >_>
Regardless, the movie was still enjoyable. =D

1408 was great. It was by far one of the best Stephen King adaptations I've ever seen. I don't know what you were expecting if you said it was crap because most of the stuff in King's stories don't really translate to the screen and I think Mikael Håfström did a great job on the direction. ----------------------------------- We signed up to Quickflix a few weeks ago and have movies sent to us as we choose them. The other night we watched Tekkon Kinkreet - a very nice little Japanese anime which is animated by Studio 4°C, who were the dudes who did some Animatrix sequences. A very cute and awesome anime. If you find yourself picking up a copy, please watch the subtitled Japanese version and not an English overdub.

1408 is rubbish.

The Shining ... another Stephen King book. I think calling it rubbish is a bit harsh, its not like it was a Mary Kate and Ashley movie - now thats rubbish.

Hmm... I really thought John Cusack did a really good job in the movie. I am yet to read the original short story, so I can't really make any comparisons. Now that I think of it, I wasn't too crash hot on the ending. The thin line between reality and fantasy seemed to be crossed a fair bit and that made the movie rather confusing at times. Still, I've gotta give praise for Cusack's performance and some of the camera work in the movie. And I'll admit... the spontaneous music blasts from radio made me jump a few times. =P Haven't seen 'The Shining', nor have I read the book. But I'll be sure to check them out once I get the chance. Bee Movie looks kind of interesting. Sort of reminds me of ANTZ, which I haven't seen in eons. (I have it on VHS somewhere, I think...) Haven't seen much Seinfeld... but I like what I have seen. So... I might give it a look-see if I get the opportunity.

When I say rubbish - in this case - I mean that 1408 claimed to be a terrifying legitimate movie - and failed.
The makers of the Olsenesque trite that few people over the age of 12 ever see, never claim the movies to be anything but fluff for kids.
Ceej - how can you not have seen the shining!?!?! A classic! Go now and get it - but make sure its the Kubrick/Nicholson version - not the other Shining tv Mini Series crud version.
That all being said - John Cusack is great in everything he's ever done.

I had to sit through "National Treasure 2" *shudder* but i am really looking forward to the film "I am legend", if you have seen the original "the omega man" you know what you are in for. I loved the original but it was slighlty corny and dated, though I'm hoping Will Smith won't be too annoying.

Oh man! I really enjoyed National Treasure 1. I was expecting this one to be as good. Boy have I watched some flicks over the last few days! Batman Begins Deuce Bigalow Blackhawk Down The Break Up Derailed Office Space Employee of the Month X-Men 3 Thankyou for Smoking Zathura The Family Stone Once Upon a Time in Mexico Plus I continued my Boxing Day tradition of watching all the Band of Brothers episodes (well i got through 7 of them - 3 to go tonight!) Band of Brothers is simply the most brilliant, moving and inspirational production ever.
