MusicMax have been doing an A-Z of 90s bands for the past two weekends, and this weekend was L-Z. I just happened to be watching when the Pumpkins came on and they played the vids for Today, Tonight, Tonight (though they called it just plain Tonight) and Disarm (in that order). So that made me quite happy.

There's a very nice piano and vocals only version of The Crying Tree Of Mercury up on Billy's myspace page that everyone should check out. I think I like it better than the Machina version.

This is a bit of a "who gives a shit?" one, but still. As I was looking up Mercury Rev, I noticed that their band name on their site is in the Siamese Dream font. ...amazing!

hahaha thats pretty funny.
Bree and I found an album by Ed Hardcort (sp?) and he used the MCIS font on his cover. Can't remember the name of the album.

One of the 1979 remixes was played on Super Request on Triple J this evening... I hadn't heard it before, yay!

yeah tell me about it. worst movie ever. I wouldn't go that far. I actually didn't mind it when I saw it a while ago. It doesn't take itself serisouly (like any spoof), and just makes fun of all the typical teen movies. I've now heard Greatest Hits: Rotten Apples played in KMart in the music section.

I heard Today at the Virgin Music part in Myer.
Their music department is poor.

Billy was interviewed on Sunrise (channel 7) this morning. he spoke about what the new album meant to him, and how the big rock star life wasnt for him.
he mentioned how his father couldnt understand that he had all this money, was on the Grammy's and still be depressed.
Billy also gave a quick mention about how the fame and success of the Pumpkins was hard because it was making his friends drug problem harder to break.
it was quite an exciting morning!
"what ever happened to the Smashing Pumpkins?"

I never have the telly on in the mornings but for some reason I put it on this morning and I was getting ready in another room and heard Walking Shade and ran out to see Kochie back announce the interview..
Dont spose anyone taped it?

I was getting ready for work and they were talking bout how they would have a Billy Corgan feature after the news. I was so pissed off because i know i have to leave for work while the news break is on...i had to leave just before it began, hows that for torture?
but yeah, hearing Koshie say "i love smashing pumpkins" was...odd

i thought the interview was good. to the audience it would have reached, he seemed sincere about his music...not just some big rock star cashing in.
the video of BWBW was a complete contrast to the billy sitting on the couch talking.

they were on music max last night
top 50 us rock bands of the 90's
and they came in at number 5!
no 6 was no doubt just a girl no 5 was sp - tonight tonight no 4 was.. yes youve heard it sung terribly at talent comps all over the world - the fugees, killing me softly ( i mean fuck it, how is that even a song worth of beating smashing pumpkins, or no doubt or the other bands that were above that like faith no more, and blink 182, and how is the fugees even considered a rock band?)
no 3 was a well deserved Pearl Jam - Alive no 2 was Under the bridge - Red hot chilli peppers no 1 was predictibly nirvana, with come as you are.

this weeks WHO magazine, out today, has two honourable mentions. 1. A letter to the editor in response to the bad review they gave to thefutureembrace 2. Small snippet in the music section saying that Billy wants to reform the pumpkins.

not sure if anyone has said this,
but Rolling STone magazine have The Future Embrace an absolute canning. about as brutal as anyone could be. the final quote was along the lines of "oh how one of the great song writers of the nineties has fallen"
EDIT: i may have put this in the totally wrong topic... but ah well.
