got a photo pass for these guys at the last minute, the gig was soooo fun! i didn't know that many songs cos i was too lazy to go buy a cd, but what i knew i liked.
they were really good to the fans too, kept saying how it's been 23 years since they've been here, and let a bunch of people up on stage to dance. at the end they were signing stuff for people too, it was pretty cool.
and one of the sax players did a stage dive, it was pretty hilarious.
Snow Patrol @ Palace
good gig, luckily everyone stood up but the show was a bit short, they only did 14 songs. i love them but they're not really a band you leave thinking "wow that gig was so much fun".
when i was leaving some people were waiting to meet the band and it was right near my car so i figured i might as well wait too, and after only half an hour Gary came out and i got my set list signed. some of the fans were a bit crazy....
V Festival
i was front row pretty much centre all day at the blue stage
Howling Bells - were really good, i can't wait until they do more of their own shows around Melbourne. the new stuff was great, i love Treasure Hunt. Juanita is so pretty.
Louis XIV - good performers, i don't really know any of their stuff but saw them supporting the Killers in 2007. i like their music but errr not their lyrics.
Jenny Lewis - so cute! her music was a bit too country-ish for my taste, but she had a great voice, i might get her album anyway. somehow she made a crusty old Lemonheads shirt look fashionable.
Razorlight - i like their music, and they're good when the singer is moving around alot, but he just stares straight out at nothing! it makes him seem boring. he ran down into the crowd though, that was pretty cool.
Kaiser Chiefs - sooooo good! i love these guys, they're so much fun every time. even though the new album isn't that great they chose the right songs to play live from it, it was a really good set. Ricky came down to the crowd at the beginning, and later climbed up on the side of the stage, he's so crazy!
The Killers - fucking. awesome.
they played for 90mins and had a whole set design up like it was a proper tour, including inflatable palm trees, haha. they had three or four extra people playing with them too.
they played all the singles basically, and then the singles off the new album plus Joyride, This Is Your Life (my two faves), Dustland Fairytale... i think that's it.
but yeah, they were so fucking good. apparently they'll be back "sooner rather than later", and there's a gap in their schedule around the time of Splendour.
they had fire/fireworks come out at the end too, pretty crazy. i know Brandon can have a bit of an ego sometimes, but i don't think they'd be as successful as they are if it wasn't for him being like that. he's just so good on stage, and they're all really strong performers.
