so how can i find out what bands are playing over there when i'm there, what sites... hmmm i asked the same on another forum, cos i'd love to go to another gig when i'm in NYC, it'd be cool if a band i like that don't tour here often were doing a show. someone did give me a link but i didn't save it, i'll try and find it again and let you know. three more ND shows have been added, so assuming we get our tix i'll now be going to 7!

that is correct ;D
i've got a bunch of bands all equal at seeing them live four times, the current leader though is Jason Mraz at 5, soon to be 6.

i'm about to buy a new phone, so i really need one that works over there. don't you just get some kind of different card or something...? i think that's what my dad did. i think my group will only have a couple of days in LA which sucks, i'm starting to consider going straight to LA for a few days instead of that extra time i was gonna spend in San Francisco, there much be so much to do! we'll probably be there from sunday july 26th - wednesday 29th, but have concerts on 27th & 28th. perhaps july 29th then...? you guys plan whatever you want and i'll just see if i can make it when the day gets closer.
my concert tix are pretty much going to be the cost of my air fare *faints*

i'm hoping to get to Europe at the end of 2009/start 2010, for around 2 months or however long the funds last. countries i'm planning on visiting include Russia, Iceland, UK, Scotland, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Germany, Norway, Netherlands and France (i was planning on boycotting France but its a compromise for a friend). my European wishlist includes Armenia, Georgia, Romania, Poland, Croatia, Morocco, Denmark, Belgium and Cyprus but trying to keep the no. of countries small at this stage, to get at least 4 - 5 days per country. even that will be incredibly rushed. hopefully there will be some winter festivals happening while i'm there. last time i went overseas (07), SP played Athens a few weeks after i left - the flight home was incredibly depressing

holy shit that is a spread out journey Georgia! and i dont think you'll have much luck finding a big festival in the middle of winter Whats your interest in netherlands? Apart from attempting to get high for three nights, we didnt find much in the country I'm thinking of doing turkey and egypt on my trip in june. opinions anyone?

haha yeah it is rather spread out scotty - it will chew through my limited funds quite nicely! i was hoping for a winter festival so i could dance in muddy snow, but if it doesn't happen i may just have to return to russia to stare at the tsarist propaganda pre-1917, and bolshevik propaganda post-1917 to make me happy the netherlands is another one of the compromise countries - there isn't much luring me there to be honest. what else is there to do apart from the obvious? do you recommend visiting it? i'd be more than happy swapping it with armenia to see the 1915 genocide memorials.. i haven't been to turkey or egypt, but interested in visiting both (and not only because i want authentic hookah in turkey ). what's attracting you to turkey? i'm really interested in the history of the ottoman empire so i was hoping for some self-education.

I took the liberty to gives comments on all your locations (that i've been to) UK - obviously something everyone does, bath is hot, and stonehenge is worth a look, and london to fill some days sight seeing Scotland - glasgow didnt jump out at me, edinburgh was nicer though. Spain - bit like australia, some really nice places, but shit boring inbetween them good nightlife if you want something though in barcelona - and barca also has some amazing gaudi architecture like sagrada familia. Italy - dont really like the people, but cities were kinda cool Greece - athens is cool, but i'm sure you know more than me Germany - awesome - i'm biased Norway - skip oslo, stay in the sexy as fjords - if camping aslong as 300m away from a house or building (or some distance) you can pitch a tent and camp for free.. incredibly awesome! Netherlands - get high, visit the redlight district, otherwise you'll get bored France - i guess you ahve to see paris cos of your friend, but try and visit mont st michel... incredible! if you're camping, you can camp right outside it, and its an incredible thing to wake up to! Denmark - nothing really in copenhagen, but a river tour is a nice and easy way to see everything, and cheap aswell. Belgium - again, nothing really there that jumps out at you. as for turkey, no real reason apart from the history behind it, and i can imagine being like greece, only i hear even better and apparently egypt is just amazing to see in real life. i wanna do some volunteer construction work in africa somewhere, just doing building for a few weeks, but palce want you to pay a few thousand to have the 'priviledge' of volunteering for them! fuck that

hey, thanks! UK - i'm mostly going there to feel closer to the 70's punk scene - hopefully some of the places the clash/the smiths used to frequent are still opened. Scotland - planning on seeing both cities you mentioned, but still unsure of what else to do there. Spain - uber-excited about drinking sangria and eating myself to death!! Italy - hoping to get to some of the villages, preferably down south so I can put my Greek to use. Greece - have seen most major cities/town in the mainland, so hoping to see some more islands this time. i really dislike athens - just another huge polluted city to me. but the coastlines are amazing and i'm a huge fan of most of the villages, so picturesque! well, those that haven't been ravaged by fires, anyway.. germany - just keen to check out some war museums and such. which cities do you recommend? norway - hadn't considered camping but you made it sound so nice! france - i'm leaving this one entirely up to my friend - hopefully catch some arthouse flicks while we're there. denmark - hadn't thought of a river tour, but sounds enjoyable! turkey - i haven't been there yet but i hear it looks pretty similar to greece (if you substitute most of the churches for mosques i guess). so much of the food is identical - i guess that happens after a 400-year occupation the volunteer work in africa (which country were you thinking?) sounds fantastic, only the paying thousands for the 'priviledge' sounds a tad dodge!

i have to get a new one aswell. my last passport i had a photo from year 8 in it.. in prague (6 years after photo was taken) i got my passport checked on the trains crossing from germany, this one smartarse border woman asked 'you arent travelling with mummy and daddy' in a really condescending voice. funny, but harsh

i've got a friend who looks alot younger than she is, and she was on a flight to Perth (she was 19) and the flight attendant seriously thought she was a kid and asked if she wanted some crayons, hahaha.
my photo is okay, could be worse. i don't look like a serial killer which i guess is good.

does anyone have any info about the legal drinking ages in europe? do they differ for each country? i've only ever been to greece and they're real lax on the purchasing/consuming of alcohol in any place, at any time.. (it was thumbs up to heineken on the bus)
