That did look freaking great indeed, sucky scott couldnt do it, we need to find a replacement pretty quickly, so if anyone knows either an acoustic performer who would like to do it, or conversely a band that is able to quickly get up to speed oon some songs, it'd be of great help

Tonite if I get time I will adjust the poster to just be the two bands we have booked, so at least we can get something out there, we can always add the final act later.

Ah cool. Maybe put "more tba" or something on it, just to signify there will be more than 2 acts. I sent out a bulletin on the ozphoria myspace calling bands from adelaide, but im not sure anyone actually reads myspace bulletins anymore.

Ok guys, so here are the details: 9pm $10 The venue is going to take $2.50 p/h, we'll pay the bands $1 p/h. Since it's a saturday night we need to get about 200 people there to make sure they don't charge us extra. Where's the other $4.50 going? Room hire? Also, I think you guys have missed an opportunity by not calling this night something like "Pie-and-peas Dream" or "Pie Floater and the Infinite Tribute"...

Quiet Child: www.myspace.com/quietchildtheband Quiet Child are a four piece alternative rock band from Adelaide who are steadily cementing their place in the local scene and pushing the boundaries of the 'musician's band' notion that has catagorized so much of the up and coming progressive rock sounds. Their music ranges from two minute blasts of furious riff filled rock, to long, grandiose epics propelled by major dynamic shifts and melodic and rhythmic complexities. In October 2007 their first single Was Immer was featured in Australia's BLUNT Magazine as part of the Loud Noises Compilation along with such names as Cog and Atreyu. 'Was Immer' has also received airplay on Triple J's Home and Hosed. In late 2007 and early 2008 their second track Underage and Well Behaved was featured on Triple J Unearthed and JTV Unearthed before earning the band a place on the 2008 Big Day Out by winning Triple J Unearthed. Quiet Child also appeared as a Featured Artist on Unearthed in January 2008 with an exclusive interview from Pete. Quiet Child have shared the stage with some great Aussie heavyweights including The Butterfly Effect, Cog, Dead Letter Circus, Mammal, Bushido, Sleep Parade and Laura. Their debut album Evening Bell is in stores nationally from June 12 through Stomp. "Quiet Child is a force to be reckoned with and if there’s a local band worthy of your support, this is the one." Rob Lyon - Journalist for 'Rip It Up Magazine' - February 2007 "The atmosphere created by the intricate sounds of Quiet Child made me never want to leave the wonderful place in my head they led me to." Talia Lomman - Journalist for 'dB Magazine' - March 2007 "Busy Streets is awesome, exhilarating and an epic beyond all proportions..." Bobby Tyger - 'Faster louder' - May 2007 "A lot of heavy music doesn’t have much else going for it. It’s loud, it’s brutal, but that’s about it. Quiet Child bring something more to the table: killer vocal melodies and catchy guitar parts. There’s a great energy to this track; I’m sure it’ll sound hot when they play it live at the Adelaide Big Day Out." Vijay Khurana - presenter for Triple J Radio- Review of, 'Underage and Well Behaved.' - 10 January 2008 "This is a wild trip. It's got a bit of freaky QOTSA riffing going on in the breakdown, some beefy Soundgarden vocals in the chorus, and a little dose of Maiden metal in the guitar licks." Richard Kingsmill - Music Director for Triple J Radio - Review of, 'Underage and Well Behaved.' - 30 January 2008 Double Handed: www.myspace.com/doublehanded Over the last three years Double Handed have perfected their captivating live show in their hometown of Adelaide, South Australia, and during regular trips to Melbourne and Sydney. Release of their debut EP, Therapist, in September of 2006 has helped boost the band’s fanbase to a new level, helping them pack out premier Adelaide venues such as the Enigma Bar, Fowlers Live, Governer Hindmarsh Hotel, Jade Monkey and Flinders Uni Bar and play alongside acts such as Mammal, the White Room, Rook and Bushido. After a few lineup changes the band have redefined their sound with a new lead vocalist, Nick Russell (Soft White Machine), and have released a new single, 48 Hours, with a full length album soon to follow. Make sure you catch Double Handed in their live element soon. Musical comparisons to Cog, Incubus and the Mars Volta have been drawn by press but the band clearly have an energy and style of their own. “...not only did they engage the crowd and display musical talent beyond their years, but they were also true professionals from start to finish, and their infectious enthusiasm was always appreciated." Elizabeth Reid, MusicSA Project Officer, www.musicsa.com.au “Double Handed display intricate musicianship too rarely seen in their genre. Fox is one of the most remarkable drummers that I’ve seen come out of Adelaide in years!” Vince Contarino & Rob Pippan, Zep Boys “This band is an excellent example of a new breed of professional and talented South Australian acts." Daniel Randell, General Manager, AusMusic SA ”Double Handed are set to become a prominent force in the Adelaide and national music scene.” Fiona Stafford www.fasterlouder.com.au + dB magazine “Double Handed bring a certain energy to the room when they perform. This energy is captured on Therapist so that it can be relived over and over again.” Sarah Pacey, editor Impress Magazine Shiloh: www.myspace.com/shilohadelaideband08 The band's name 'Shiloh' means "place of peace" in Hebrew, and also refers to one of the great battles of the American civil war. This paradox sums up the contrasting forces that are embodied in the music. Shiloh was conceived in Adelaide 2007 when five guys got together and asked the question, "How far can we take this?" One of the main driving forces of the band is to push the boundaries of contemporary rock music by exploring different genres to create in essence, music that combines elements of light and shade, power and subtlety, chaos and reason. The band has spent the last eight months working on tracks and it now intends to spread their message to the masses. Plans are underway to record their debut EP in early 2009, with extensive touring to follow. The battle of Shiloh has begun!

We are working on finances at the moment ... we just dropped a shitload of money on the flights over to the Flaming Lips tour. Also the other thing at the moment that is something we are preparing for is tax time and house rates ... this is our first year of paying council rates, I think they'll be a few grand too ... plus my tax bill will be nasty due to all the freelance stuff I've been doing ... long story ... if we've got the money ... we'll be there. I know ... we suck

OK! So I've mailed everybody about this, I've hit the twitters about it too ... what other plans are there for promotion?
Other forums, communities? Printed signage? Drop offs at music stores? ... I'll *see* if I can get Rosie to mention it on JJJ, perhaps the week before or week leading up to it. Any local radio stations you can contact?
There is a thing called "theguide" here in Perth that gets mentioned on the commercial networks, we contacted them and got it announced there.
Anyway sure you've got it under control, just wanting to help in anyway possible.
