since james and darcy abandoned then band, i think that it is appropriate that all of the pictures on this website be replaced with pictures of jeff and ginger. Can we please have them removed. Yeah, let's just forget they even existed... sounds like a great idea.

Hope that's a bad joke James and D'arcy are half of the band that the majority of us fell in love with. They are a huge part of why we are here to begin with.

Isn't going to happen sorry. Jeff and Ginger have played what 4 shows with the band, at this stage Matt Walker played more gigs than them and we don't have any pictures of him, or Mike Garson, or Jon Melvoin.
We will start to intergrate pictures of the new members, but once they become established memebers and there are actual promotional shots with the band.

even if new members started being represented w/ photos, no way in hell is the original 4, being in SP as those 4 together for 9 years in total, going to be changed.
maybe if the line up stays for 10 years plus, would it be considered. which i doubt will happen.

It would appear that from reading the recent interview with billy and jimmy that ginger and jeff were selected for the long haul.. Stop living in the past!
Darcy and James gave a big fuck you to us fans and to billy and jimmy. I also grew up with them, but whats in the past is in the past, move on, welcome the new members with open arms and acceptance.
It is only appropriate that old photos of darcy and james start to be removed and replaced with photos of the new members.

So I take it you won't be listening to any pre-Zeitgiest material anymore?
D'arcy and James were integral parts in the Pumpkins history, which Ozphoria will continue to honour - regardless of the new line up.

wow, we have someone who actually believes what billy says in interviews!
he said similar things about zwan when they formed.
maybe after i've watched the metro DVD and listened to the official commerical release of machina 2 and the chicago songs and billy's second solo album and watched the adore era vieuphoria 2 we can talk.

I think you're all fighting over nothing.
I'm sure I can speak for sunky when I say that we support Jeff and Ginger and embrace their appointment to the band - yes, it's a pity things went the way they did with James and D'Arcy but hey... what's done is done and we can look to the new album and future material as I'm sure we're gonna hear some awesome stuff. I really hate people making Jeff and Ginger out to be villains or some two-bit session players --- most of us by now have heard them playing live and are aware that these are fantastic musicians in their own right.
Why cricify Billy for being an optimist? He's obviously proud of the lineup he's assembled and wants to tell everyone how things are working out and how he hopes them to work out. That's not wrong. It's awesome to hear an artist backing his bandmates and letting everyone know he is happy with them and has faith in their musical ability.
As for someone suggesting we remove all reference to James and D'Arcy, I think Vic put it best - Ozphoria will continue to honour the involvement and roles they played in the band's rich history because it's a part of the band that has become the Smashing Pumpkins in 2007. It's ludicrous to make such a comment - and I really do hope you're joking, otherwise you might wanna close your eyes while viewing Ozphoria...

my suggestion to take down all darcy and james pics was merely pointed towards creating a debate as to whether or not pictures of ginjer and jeff should begin to appear. I think they should. I respect what dacry and inparticular james did for the pumpkins.
As for people continuaing to bag out billy, i mean please.. Before analysing what billy has not given us, lets analyse what billy has given us. Billy has given us hundreds of wonderfull songs over the past 20 years stop acting as though he owes us something! I stood 5 meters away from billy at his acoustic gig in syd, i hav nothing but love and respect for what he gave us that night. Please keep you thoughts about billy to hatephoria.

my suggestion to take down all darcy and james pics was merely pointed towards creating a debate as to whether or not pictures of ginjer and jeff should begin to appear. We didn't say we wouldn't include Jeff and Ginger in any site images. When there are more band pics we may put them into circulation, but for now - we wait. As for people continuaing to bag out billy, i mean please.. Before analysing what billy has not given us, lets analyse what billy has given us. Discussion of any Smashing Pumpkin related subject is encouraged here at Ozphoria. As long as members respect each other and keep posts on-topic and refrain from personal attacks, all is fine with us. I post occasionally on Netphoria - yes there are a few people who make remarks questioning Billy's decisions and motives but there are some extremely good topics over there and (if you get to the thread before it totally degenerates into a shitfight) there are a lot of members with great opinions and stories. I was standing front row centre at the Marquee gig with Josh (Tarantula), Vic (SPchick) and Simon (sunky) and I agree - Billy gave us all an amazing memory to cherish that night. A fantastic show - everything I could ever have dreamed and more. But there are many who remember rumours of the Metro DVD and other releases and won't forgive him for that. To me that all doesn't matter, but to the people who really were and still are bothered by broken promises and rumours that never eventuated, that's hard to let go and pretend it never happened. I think it's important to be able to see it from both sides - it's hard and I admit I sometimes have a LOT of trouble with some of the more stubborn fans but I'm trying.

i was not really trying to invoke a discussion on netphoria. All i wanted to say was that i am sick of negative comments towards billy and that they belong on netphoria, which i believe they do... I do see both sides of the argument, i have also been dissapointed at times by billy, but please he does not owe us anything.
Back to my original point,,,, i believe pictures should appear in the future of ginger and jeff. Of course james and darcy pictures should remain,, was just trying to stir ;D
Do people not think they should.?

If it's just for the sake of stirring, you're really not going to win any friends here. Passionate discussion is great but stirring and posting silly comments to incite a flame war is just not acceptable.
People were assuming from your first post that you were objecting to James and D'Arcy being represented here and wanted them removed. I already answered your question in my post above but to reiterate, yes images of Jeff and Ginger will appear here in Ozphoria - on the main page etc. but in due time. The band just started playing shows and majority of images are just fan photographs at the moment. So, for the time being - PATIENCE.

Just for the record, I trhink Ginger looks like a cheap whore, id rate her about on par with arising tour D'arcy, early Darcy and Melissa is a tough call... I prefer Melissa, but that just me. Why are we talking about this? Iwant more pics of Kenny Arnoff!!!! Bring on the frogman!

i would hardly call trying to invoke a discussion about the recognition jeff and ginger will get as being silly... I would have thought the the replacement of james by jeff and ginger being appointed as new bassist as very important matters and as a very significant moment for the pumpkins... many people feel passionately about this as do i so please.. no one is trying to incite a flame war.
can we all lighten up a little bit,, its getting a little to serious...

Alright, heres my opinion, Jeff and Ginger will get full credit if and when an album comes out on which they play and make a significant impact on the sound of the pumpkins. OR, their live performances are seen by enough people to validify their position, by imbueing their unique spirits on the music, such as Melissa did.
Despite Billy's obvious dominance, the pumpkins sound has a lot to do with the plasying of James, you could probably argue that D'arcy's influence was felt more in spirit than actual playing, but her definitive mark has been made in many ways.
I think theyll be recognised eventually if they make use of the opportunity, which it seems Jeff at least is already well on his way to doing

Back on topic now. (ginger and jeff)
Do people think that gingers sex and looks had anything to do with her being picked in the band,,, and not just her playing ability?

i still dont understand how people can be bitter about what billy hasnt given them. would people really rather that instead of working on a new pumpkins album billy had been working on the metro dvd instead? it seems so petty.. like you just need something to complain about and be unhappy about..
and jimmy when did james/d'arcy have a significant impact on the sound of the pumpkins?

I think James has always had a significant impact on the sound, and like i said, I think D'arcy's impact was felt in other ways. Obviously it's always been Billys vision, but its shaped by the people he surrounds himself with as well.

fair enough.. i would say the only one apart from billy obviously would be jimmy (...adore) and that the otehrs didnt have a significant influence on the sound.

James definately had an impact, not in every song, but it is there.
Changing subject.... Does anyone wanna tell me about June? Am I right in thinking this was a character of some sort billy created? Or am I imagining things?

anyhow yeah i think James made some a massive impact on SP, his lead parts were so melodic that make songs what they are (the melody over the chorus in rocket for example, the second solo in soma, his ebow on the adore tour) He works in a similar fashion to pajo in zwan. He contributed so many little lead parts and melodies that make songs great (and lets billy do all the shredding solos) but arent major influences on the song structure and whatnot, hence very little writing credits.
