Interpol's new one - I did like it from the start, but it gets better with time in my eyes!

I have heard no interviews with the band about it so i'm not sure what they were trying but it seems deeper than their previous work. No real accessible songs bar the Heinirich Manouver. Even with all the moodiness in their back catalogue, they still had Obsticle 1 and 2, PDA., Angels and then Evil, Slow Hands and C'mere on Antics....

Many people say all Interpol is alike but i see a lot of differences in this one...

it's still probably the weakest of their albums but it isn't the disappointment i first figured it for.. nor is icky thump, i might add - that's grown on me pretty hard.

You Am I frontman Tim Rogers will release new solo album The Luxury Of Hysteria on Saturday 29 September. The LP will be released on his own label, Ruby Q Records, and preceded by first single "When Yer Sad". To launch the album, Rogers will hit the road with members of his other band, The Temperance Union, in October. Tickets go on sale Friday 31 August

If you preorder the album on JB Hifi's website, you will get a personally signed copy by Timmy, and also have the option of a bonus live disk or a digipak copy.

LUCIANO Pavarotti, one of the greatest tenors of his generation, has died at his home in Modena, his manager says.
"Luciano Pavarotti died one hour ago," manager Terri Robson said in a telephone text message to media.
In an email statement to the Associated Press Robson said Pavarotti died at his home in Modena, Italy, at 5am local time (1pm AEST).
"The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterised his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness," the statement said.
Earlier, family and friends had gathered at the home of the Italian opera star as he lay unconscious and battling kidney failure.
The 71-year-old tenor, who helped bring opera to the masses and performed to vast stadium audiences around the world underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer in July 2006.
Pavarotti shot to fame with a stand-in appearance at London's Covent Garden in 1963 and soon had critics gushing about his voluminous voice.

Perhaps his biggest gift to the music world was when he teamed up with Spanish stars Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras at the 1990 soccer World Cup and introduced operatic classics to an estimated 800 million television viewers round the globe.

Sales of opera albums shot up after the gala concert in Rome's Baths of Caracalla and since then Puccini's aria Nessun Dorma from his opera Turandot has been heavily associated with Pavarotti and soccer.

Led Zeppelin to reform for tribute gig

ENGLISH rock band Led Zeppelin are to reunite for a one-off concert later this year.

Frontman Robert Plant confirmed the news by telling a fan he was on his way to meet bandmates Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones to discuss the special show.

The fan, who asked Plant if rumours of a reunion were true, told NME.com:

"He said to me, 'How did you find out about this? Well we've got a band meeting about it later on. There's not a lot to work out as it's only going to be one-off gig.'"

The band will reportedly perform at London's The O2 arena in November for a charity show organised by promoter Harvey Goldsmith.

It has long been rumoured the legendary group, who disbanded in 1980 after drummer John Bonham died, would reform for a concert to honour the memory of late Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun.

The surviving three members have only performed together twice since Bonham's death – at Live Aid in 1985 and when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.

The group's 1971 song Stairway to Heaven has been repeatedly named as the best rock song of all time, despite never actually being released as a single.

However, the ballad is one of the most covered of all time and has been sung by a host of stars, including Dolly Parton and Rolf Harris.

Most recently, it attracted up to 70 per cent of the vote in a poll run by British radio station Planet Rock which asked listeners to name their favourite rock song.

Planet Rock presenter Mark Jeeves said: "The number one may be seen as a rock cliché but the truth is that it's probably the only rock song ever written that fans agree is a classic.

"After all these years, there's still nothing to touch it."

Radiohead have confirmed that they've finished work on their seventh studio album.


But with the band still without a record deal, no release date has been set. Radiohead's EMI contract expired with 2003's 'Hail To The Thief' album.

It's believed that the band are assessing their options – one of them being releasing the album through a worldwide series of independent agreements – and are considering moving away from the traditional promotional paradigm.

Guitarist Jonny Greenwood told 'Paste', "We've just had a meeting about [the album and its release plans] today. We're very relieved to have finished recording, now we have to decide what we should do with it."

As previously reported on Undercover, the album definitely won't be released in 2007.

Producer Nigel Godrich posted a lo-fi clip of audio samples on the band's dot-com in June, which hinted toward an upbeat release featuring lush strings, plaintive piano and even some grimy guitar.

The sampled tracks are listed as 'Open Pick', 'All I Need', '?(New Song?, I Froze Up?, Burn The Witch?)', 'Down Is The New Up', 'Arpeggi' and 'Bangers N' Mash'.
